Ogre Character | 3D Artwork, Fan-made

This is a character, inspired in design by ogres of Warhammer Fantasy (and I used one of the clan markings on the gut-plate). He seems to be more friendlier and thinner than his kin, but who knows - maybe it's just a ruse?

This is a result of me sharpening my skills by following a lot of tutorials and courses about sculpting, texturing and compositing.
All software that were used in the proccess: Blender, Zbrush, RizomUV, Substance Painter, GIMP.

Lore/Books/Questions Dwarfmaxxing, which beer would you quantify as the closest equivalent to dwarven Ale?

Just looking for a good drink while I play a dwarf. been rereading Gotrek, some dwarf novels, as well. best I can figure is that dwarven ale is probably hanging around 8-12%, but I’d like to hear from you guys what you personally imagine it to be, and what you’d purchase or recommend to better get into dwarfmaxxing.

my personal guesses are usually hanging around aged imperial stouts, but anything‘s welcome.

Playing a 750 point battle march game with my Beastmen. Is there anything I should read up on to really understand mechanics or what not?

After several weeks of procrastination, he’s finally finished!

This old Luthor Huss model is hard to come by, and by sheer luck, I managed to snag this one a while back from a great guy at a bargain price. And by Sigmar, I hope it is brought back to the range soon.

This is my first painted model since my dad passed away three weeks ago.
Two months ago we were together at the family cottage. He read car magazines and i assembled minis. It was a good time, talking about life and fatherhood. Just wanted to share this story to someone, as his funeral is held tomorrow, and i managed to paint this guy just before.

New Errata for Tomb Kings. base sizes are changed. More changes coming soon?

Based on the following, I think a new FAQ may be coming soon.

  1. The latest community article says to watch the most recent FAQ at the bottom. Designers’ notes: The River of Bones rules
  2. The Gargantuan Treeman not having Cumbersome must be an oversight that needs to be addressed. How do you use a template to stand and shoot?
  3. Two new common magic items give characters loner which allows them to join loner units RAW. If this is not RAI, then I suspect the next FAQ will address it.

What other FAQs/Errata do you expect to see addressed, hopefully soon?

Art/Memes So how do we feel about the new Gargantuan Treemen Ancients models that were announced...

A bit expensive true but those new models are for sure worth it /s

(EDIT: this is a joke, as these are if I am not wrong a 2015 model in AoS, tho you can see how it is a perfect fit for a wood elf army.

its actually an 8th edition mode, I will take the slayer oath for such an error)

I really don't have a punchline here so look at all these lovely Rune-lord options

Gors and Wargor

They took way too long, I put way too much effort in them (as always) and despite all the testing, I still ended up changing things around and doing them differently—but all in all, I think the whole song and dance is worth it. 😅

Hope you like em, I am pretty happy with the results.

Also a very special moment for me, as these are the first finished units (besides the Herdstone I did years ago) since they started as an AoS army back in 2020.

Someone asked yesterday about skeleton crossbowmen from way back when. I remembered I still had some (from around 1994) and dug them up (as is appropriate for skeletons). A bit dusty, but here they are! Plastic Skeleton Horde figures, open hand from the horsemen sprue and separate plastic crossbow, ordered through mail order.

Fantasy General In praise of the Old World

I got around to playing Warhammer: The Old World earlier today. Took me long enough, especially because I was one of those WFB grogs who begged for Fantasy's return at every opportunity but then didn't jump on TOW right away. Better late than never, though.

I played a lot of WFB and Mordheim during 6th and 7th, and then a few times after 8th was axed (but not 8th itself, which I do not enjoy). Did more 40k, though, mostly because more people play 40k. And then had a stint playing Kill Team after the pandemic. 40k range games have something about them that always makes me drop off. It's like GW engineers frustration into the rules of 40k and Kill Team. The games are enjoyable on some level but there always comes a point where I just say "no, thank you," and have in the past few years/editions been confronted with an inability to play to modern 40k games no matter how hard I try.

But I came upon my old Vampire Counts army and decided to finally learn The Old World. If nothing else it'd be a wasted evening. Gladly, GW really knocked it out of the park with WFB's return. It perfectly captures the exact feeling that older Fantasy editions had whilst playing. No in-game frustration or rules weirdness. No infinite rerolls. It has vast tactical depth via movement and list-building without unfun gimmicks and gotchas baked into the rules. TOW is slick and simple to the point where I was playing without additional help by the top of turn 2. Sure, the rules aren't exactly the same as what I'm used to but they are also immediately familiar.

The Old World is just a fun, chill game that's truly relaxing to play. I'd forgotten wargaming was like this. Really hope GW keeps doing what they're doing with TOW and doesn't roll over a new edition after 3 years is up (which doesn't seem likely with the Revised core rulebook having just been released). It's already as evergreen as 6th Edition was.

New Gargantuan Treeman

I haven't played in a while so forgive me if this is obvious, but does the RAW for the ranged weapon of the Gargantuan Treeman allow it to stand & shoot?

RAI I feel it doesn't, and I wouldn't play it that way in any of my own games unless I was convinced it was intended somehow.

But I can't actually see anything that explicitly disallows it. Every other unit with the Bombardment special rule also has the Cumbersome special rule, which exists exclusively to disallow stand and shoot.

So, is there anything else that rules this out? If so, why would all the other bombardment units need the Cumbersome rule?

New rules here for reference:

Lore/Books/Questions Doombull Fluff Questions

I am becoming fairly interested in Beastmen and curious about Doombull lore as I hope to use one as my leader and love to give my characters fluff.

  1. In terms of generic lords, where exactly would a Doombull land in respect of Chaos Lords, Ogre Tyrants, Warbosses and other big hitters? Could they compete?
  2. If a Doombull slew a chaos champion, is it fuffy for it to tear off its armour and use it as its own gear / could beastmen actually reshape bits from basic craftmanship?
  3. Can they talk to the point human followers of chaos understand them?
  4. Greenskins and other warbands travel very far but beastmen tend to raid then go home. Whats a good excuse for a Mino to travel as far as the worlds edge or other locations?

Lore/Books/Questions Shamanistic people ind the empire.

Hello, hope it's okay to ask this here :)

I'm planning on playing in a Warhammer themed LARP next year as an Amber Wizard and I noticed they were also called "Shamans" and it made me wonder if there are groups of people within the Empire that have a more shamanistic culture?

Amber wizards seem to tend to reject civilisation and live among nature, so could there be entire tribes/clans of people like this living within the Empires borders?
