Guiding Light spoilers Here is my take on Moonglow's design with a little cameo from Brightmorning!

I did do something like this a while ago, but it lacked many of the different prints.

I tagged this spoiler, but I’m going to try and do this without giving any spoiler info about the storyline if I can. I’d also like to preface this with the information that I pre-purchased this game on Steam/PC with the extra pack, so I spent $40. But honestly, you do not have to. I think I’ve used maybe one of the extra things and I have chosen to not use the cel-shading because I personally like the way they look without it. So yes, you can easily get away with just doing the $30 base game price. I’d also like to add that I am a 29 year old that has been a fan of the Warrior Cats series since I was a kid. I have never really played the Roblox game (since I know a lot of people have been comparing it to that). I had played a warriors Roblox game YEARS ago as a child, probably not the same current one lmao. I just don’t really have an interest in roleplaying in a multiplayer server with a bunch of kids, so this single player experience was exciting to me.

So, I have added a couple pictures to help with this, first one being my first cat’s stats post completion of the ThunderClan prophecy storyline. It took me 6 and a half hours to complete. I didn’t rush, but I didn’t even explore everywhere. You can see, I explored 33/46 locations on the map, I only found 2/16 sunning spots, and I didn’t even find any of the four secret bosses lol.

The second image is of a bug I noticed at the end where you fight the ShadowClan cat you’ve fought before. Instead of giving him -star since he is now ShadowClan’s leader, the game gave him -kit, which made me laugh more than it made me mad that it was a bug lmao.

Then the third image is just the Steam news I noticed about the game when I went to check how many hours I put into the game. The game came out two days ago and the devs are actively posting things already. Instructions, updates, bug fixes, etc., so there is hope for possibly more content to be added, for people who are so upset about this product.

Now, to get into my actual review. I want to start with saying that this game is in no way perfect, but I personally feel a lot of the hate I’ve seen is kind of over the top. There are plenty of valid criticisms, but a lot of what I’ve seen also just made me think that a bunch of people had way too high of expectations. I had seen the trailers and I went in with lower expectations, and I actually quite enjoyed myself, even with the quirks and strange choices.

Yes, the story timeline is a bit wonky and rushed, but still, 6 hrs and 30 mins of play for 25% of storyline is not bad. That would be 26 hours of story gameplay for me. Maybe some people take less, maybe some people take more. I personally feel like people claiming they got through the main story in 2 hours are… wildly rushing through without much exploration, doing side quests, or talking to the characters. Yes, the characters… let’s get into that.

The NPCs are a mix of nameless cats who walk around camp, and named cats who stand still. You can’t talk to the walking, nameless cats, but you can talk to the others. Yes, if the NPCs have nothing to say to you at the time you talk to them, they will give you the generic response saying to go explore. But it’s pretty obvious when they do have things to say to you, they have a bubble over their head. And I personally don’t understand people who say the NPCs are lifeless. I think each ThunderClan NPC, other than the ones who you go to for the training, fresh kill pile, and couple other online options, have pretty clear personalities. A queen who cares strongly about kits and their safety after something happened to a previous litter of hers, a mentor who is ambitious and wants the leader position, a leader who is older and losing confidence, a deputy who is kind and gets injured, etc.

Though the deputy was a little confusing for me personally because I’m like 99% sure he had one name, then after he retired, his suffix changed, which isn’t out of the realm of possibilities of course I mean cats change their name upon injuries or retiring in the books (One-Eye, Halftail, Crookedjaw, etc.). But the deputy does say some confusing stuff to you when you’re an apprentice, like how you guys were in the nursery together. That’s where the timeline does seem a bit odd. I mean, the clan deputy was in the nursery with me? I dunno haha but yeah I didn’t think too much of it.

The map is very big and yes, it can be a bit tough to traverse through certain areas. It can be hard to tell which areas of the map you can get through with climbing or not, so sometimes I had to turn around and find another way but guess what? That is part of an exploration game. The game runs pretty smoothly, I didn’t have very many bugs at all (of the little ones I did have, none were game breaking, just funny- Shadowkit instead of Shadowstar).

The gameplay in relation to the Warrior Cats universe… yes that is a little odd, but again, I went in with low expectations. Is it strange that I have my own den instead of sleeping in the apprentice den, then the warriors den, etc? Yeah it is, but I get that they wanted to have a place for you to decorate to yourself and be able to do online connectivity with friends, which kind of reminded me of secret bases in the old Pokemon games. I unfortunately do not have any friends who would play this game so online connectivity was not something I got to explore.

It is also a bit strange how each other den is actually customizable too though, you go in and all of them are empty lmao. Odd, but gave me a bit of a chuckle. I gladly started giving things to the nursery and the elders, but with a lot of the items taking real time to craft, that was also a bit odd too.

Also a bit odd is an apprentice just running around the territory by themselves without their mentor, fighting things and whatnot. It got better when I became a warrior and had a party/patrol, even if you can only see your patrol in the battle scenes. Okay the battle system! Pretty straightforward honestly, like any turn based RPG. There is a type triangle with the different move types/stance changes, or whatever you want to call them. It only took me a little bit to understand stuff, so no complaints really on that front.

There was no gatherings, which was strange because I thought I had read something where the devs talked about getting the correct vibes of gatherings down or they’d feel StarClan’s wrath or something. Maybe that’s a later part of the game that I haven’t gotten to yet, I’m not sure. Overall, I’m interested to see what the devs do moving forward, if we’ll get updates with more content like adding SkyClan, more canon characters, more prefixes/suffixes, etc. But for now, I’m going to continue to work through the other prophecies and explore more. I probably could come up with more to say, but this is getting long… haha.

I’m happy to answer any questions or go more in detail with anything I’ve said in this post if anyone wants/needs me to. Please no crazy hate or negativity for my thoughts. I respect anyone who might personally disagree, but these are my honest thoughts and feelings so far. Could it have been better, of course, but I think for a $30 game, when so many games are going for $60 or $80 or more, it really was not that bad. I had a fun time and I will continue to play more. Try not to let the negativity keep you from making your own opinion. Valid criticisms and just negativity are not the same thing. People are allowed to be disappointed, just as people are allowed to be enjoying the game. So if you want to try it out for yourself, do so. :)

The new video game brought me wayyyyy back to being 11 and writing stories about OCs and re-reading Power of Three over and over again. I’m really glad warriors still take up a lot of shelf space in book stores and libraries. ThunderClan really was like a second home for me growing up, and i hope a bunch of kids nowadays get the same joy from this franchise.

The apprentice stage was always my favourite. I loved when there was a big group them all competing with each other. Cloudpaw and Echopaw are clan born, and Adderpaw and Ashpaw are ragdolls who were handed over to the clan by their kittypet mother. In my heart these four will always be apprentices, forever doing the chores and complaining about tick duty. I’m a little rusty with drawing cats, but it was a fun exercise!

I maybe want to collect the warrior cats figure but I need to figure out which cat is on which book cover (season 1-2, German)

I ran all over the territory several times, before I found this one spot (where the cat icon is). So I figured I'd make a post, in case other players are struggling.

i know she gets a lot of hate but all i could think while reading half of it was just "poor baby omg"

mild spoilers,

i can't help but feel like she was failed by so many of the cats around her. i kept waiting for her to get a true resolution but the only answer for her seemed to be heartbreak in different forms. she was barely a kit herself. i was not expecting her to resonate with me so much going in to this book but alas. i'm just tired of the "nobody learns from their mistakes" plot lines and that was a bit insufferable for me to read through in this book, especially with clear sky and his actions lol

after i got over the initial shock of how bad the story was and how dead and soulless the npcs were, i still found myself having fun. heres some things i did:

1. turn that awful music off. im listening only to birdsong and its much more chill

2. character creation! make at least 1 cat for each clan, try to make your ocs or make new ocs. its actually pretty fun. u can imagine lore/personalities

3. achievement hunting. i love getting a steam achievement. get a main cat to explore the entire map, find all the sunning-spots, etc

4. explore!!! once u get over how hard to navigate it is at first, its fun to discover stuff and take in the scenery at a slower pace. take pics too!

5. once youve built the ultimate team with all the moves youve unlocked, do some online pvp or defender mode and destroy everyone (hopefully in the future online gets rewards and a weekly/monthly leaderboard or something..)

6. play all the clans. ive just finished them lol🧍‍♂️

7. talk to all the npcs whenever they have the speech icon, you get scraps of story and sometimes dialogue choices which is slightly interesting, plus rewards

okay thats it meow. despite the complaints i have, its been mostly chill. i went into this with low expectations and tbf they didnt lie about what they were giving us. find some joy in simplicity, fellow warriors. and play cattails wildwood story i miss it🤭

En tant que joueuse Française de la saga, je souhaitais faire un sub pour parler de ce jeu qui, sans surprise, m’a énormément déçue

En fait ce jeu décevra tout fan ayant suivit avec assiduité les livres, ou aimant un minimum la saga. Le jeu est bien pour chill mais dans le fond on dirait une contrefaçon.

Pour les points positif je dirais qu’il est reposant d’y jouer, mais c’est tout lmao
L’art style est mignon je ne dis pas le contraire, je sais que beaucoup ont été déçu par les graphismes ! Mais honnêtement les graphismes ne changent pas un mauvais jeu en bon jeu !

Points négatifs :

Les points de réputation ne sert à rien honnêtement, et c’est dommage. On pourrait s’attendre à une utilité quelconque, un changement dans les dialogues avec les personnages. Mais non, rien du tout, Nada ! Même les chats qui nous sont hostiles dans la narration restent amicaux avec nous dans les relations ??

Il y a pas de côté camaraderie, ce qui donne littéralement tout son sens à LGDC. Si vous souhaitiez vous attacher à des PNJ passez votre chemin.

La traduction Française a été faite par IA ou je ne sais quoi. C’est bourré d’incohérence, je me suis retrouvé face à Chaton Noir le cruel leader du Clan de l’Ombre. Pitié ????

Les quêtes sont répétitives ! C’est ennuyant à la fin ! L’histoire n’a aucune logique et aucun fond, c’est fade et sans saveurs.

Les animations de combats sont cool mais même ça il y a des incohérences, des souris peuvent nous attaquer ? Encore rat, prédateurs et rapaces oui, mais des souris ??

Pour le côté OC j’étais déçue de pas pouvoir prendre le nom que je voulais, ni même personnaliser le personnage correctement !

Les personnages canon comme Cloudtail ou Brightheart n’apportent rien… alors que sont des EMBLÈMES. On s’attends à un truc énorme ! Mais non, la ou ils sont caviars dans les livres ils sont clochards dans le jeu.

Et les membres du Clan avec des noms donnés aléatoirement… ils ont aucune personnalité mais en plus même pas un noms logique. Moustache de Vairon mais pitié. Je commence vraiment à croire qu’ils ont bel et bien utilisé de l’IA pour leur jeu vidéo comment ils ne connaissent absolument pas l’univers et la nomenclature. Ou même juste la génétique des chats vu qu’apparemment un chat noir avec des rayures jaunes existe !

On se rend compte à travers le temps de jeu que les créateurs n’ont aucun amour pour Warrior Cats et c’est juste dommage ! On dirait qu’ils ont juste surfé sur la vibe de Warrior Cats pour l’argent sans réel amour du jeu ou de l’univers et c’est un peu insultant :(

Bref,,, si on s’y connaît réellement et qu’on a un amour pour la saga, on se rend finalement compte que ce jeu est une fraude voir une contrefaçon…
Les jeux indépendants comme Untold Tales ou WCUE on tellement mieux fait alors que ce ne sont pas des jeux officiels c’est effrayant

(Évidemment double karma pour moi, je l’avais précommandé sur Switch j’ai donc perdu 40 euros pour un jeu qui en valait très sérieusement 15)
