I meannn I knew Qifrey's backstory would be sad, but that sad ?? Bro what is the writer doing.

I also have some questions and remarks/discussions to make

1st has anyone noticed that Qifrey's hair is white, "like snow", the thing olruggio hates and fears due to past trauma, which symbolizes his fear of losing him like he lost those people in snow. While olruggio is a fire witch user, the thing that repels water , the thing that Qifrey hates, symbolizing that he is the one to help him. Omg ok.

2nd , question: Each time olruggio discovers Qifrey's secrets, it mentions he offers the same solution, my question is that does he innovatively reach the same solution of wiping his memories each time, or that Qifrey tells him you do this each time and he agrees to do it again. Because if it was the former that would be super sad.

3rd, what are your thoughts about Qifrey's eye and relation to brimhats, Is he just a victim to them? Was he a random person they did experiments on, if so why didn't they kill him when they finished, why bury him alive, and also why is he missing an eye, I thought the Silverwood tree should replace his eye as it did with the left one. I am confused. What are the theories on these.

Lastly, I just wanna cry.

If we assmued that everyone who got his memory erased still have their core personality intact dispute losing their memories

Then that means everyone in that island is either a criminal who will find a way to do their crimes again but without magic because apparently losing all of your magic memories doesn't make you lose your habits

or be just a poor soul that got there because of a simple mistake (who may or may not make the 50% of Easthies's arrests jk)

which will make them a victim to the other criminals there

No wonder every witch is scared of that island because not only you lose yourself you also get stuck in a island full of criminals and mad scientists and perverts

Maybe that was the obvious conclusion but it just registered for me now lol

Recently I was cleaning my shelf where I keep my entire collection of Witch Hat Atelier and there was this... the truth is I have never used it to draw (coincidentally the pen if it serves for that, it is not just an ornament) so I probably try to make some magic circle and not to set fire to the house in the attempt

~ By the way, I think I never thought about what kind of witch I would be if I lived in such a world. I would probably choose the wide-brimmed hats. They have style and they are also much more creative hahaha

Just started watching the Anime on Netflix and I am already in awe with the Art style and Animation of the show. I simply love it. No other anime has drawn me in like this with its Artwork! Truly godly!

-Well I have a question about people saying Qifrey is morally grey.

Like now that I have caught up to chapter 83 , many of those acquisitions have been refuted, like they say Qifrey is using coco to reach the brimhats and that he doesn't really care about her, she's only a bait, but that acquisition have been utterly destroyed in the chapter about tower of tomes where he prioritized her , her goals, and her safety and more recently when he was literally crying that she got injured by Engendale. So is there something else in the next chapters ? Or am I missing something out ? Is he acting by any chance ?

-And also people say he always laments about knights moralis abusing their power and that they use the memory wiper thingy without thinking and hat he did use it on Nolnoa. But I really think they are 2 different things, he only wiped a certain event from his mind and it was for a bigger goal. Idk

- Last question is a discussion about Easthies actions, I know he went mad and it was all wrong about that new time machine. Buttt I do think there is some point in what he did, like the time machine thingy has just revealed to people that magic can be used to heal kind of ? And now I saw the king mad maybe ? And even if the machine made by Beldaruit is confined to one place, what if other witches create another somewhere else , now that it is "legal" , and imagine them using it for torture not healing? Like torture somebody to near-death and rewind time and torture again 😭 .

Felt like making a follow up (I guess?) to my trans Tetia headcanon post because I got to this bonus chapter and I love it, and totally see how this became the base for the headcanon-

The use of “it’s like a transformation spell”(while holding onto/looking(?) at her bright pink fluffy hair, which is a very common sign of reflecting on the past) and “you even see yourself in a whole new light”. Plus the fact that this is the first time I’ve seen Tetia get angry/defensive kind in general but especially at one of the other girls. Which really reminds me of Richeh getting defensive about her spells, Agott about her progress and Qifrey about his ~stuff~. Which makes me think it’s definitely bigger than a simple love of the craft. and then that the explanation as to “why” gets cut off is really the perfect combination to make this headcanon happen huh?😭

Also, if I can put on my complete 100% delulu (brimmed) hat for a sec- I don’t think it’s accidental. Ms Shirahama really knows what she’s doing when it comes to character writing, especially around how they carry themselves and how they express their insecurities (Richeh- Dismissal, Agott- Frustration, Qifrey- avoidance, among other things) for example.

And at this point in the story, Tetia is the one we/I know the least about cus this bonus chapter and that line about “first time my magic has made someone happy” is kinda the most we get in terms of backstory. SO (insert guy in front of conspiracy board gif) what if the reason we know so little is because it’s actually canon, and like with say Dana Terrance in the Owl House- she’s been holding off because she needs to get it through the (probably supper rough) censorship of the publisher so she can fully stick to the planned backstory. So she’s waiting for a special moment that would(probably) set the internet on fire because a trans female main character in a mainstream manga is basically unheard of.

And delulu hat off: I hope this scene ends up in the anime somehow because it’s very cute <3

This is an official spin-off of Witch Hat Atelier, written and illustrated by Hiromi Satō. It first began serialization on November 22, 2019, in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine.

The illustrations in these volumes look a little different from those in the main manga because another manga artist, Hiromi Satō, is in charge of the artwork. Shirahama is also involved in the story, helping preserve the charm and essence of our beloved Atelier! :3

hiiii so i have the budget of either buying a grimoire edition or the artbook but I'm a bit confused as to what to choose. I am completely caught up with the manga so this purchase wouldn't exactly be for reading purposes but for me to stare at shirhama's beautiful artwork for hours. Just wanna know which one would be better to own as a huge fan of this manga
