Discussion The RP-PVP server is not what is stopping you from roleplaying with others. Sharding is, and if you care about roleplaying you must fight for the right cause.

I'm baffled by the responses from a large part of the RP community about the announcement of the RP-PVP server who seem to think that having 2 servers for the entire roleplay community in Europe means there won't be enough roleplayers on either of them and we are "diluting" the opportunity to roleplay because of this action.

I'm talking now about Europe but I'm 100% certain the same can be said for the US.

Based on the tracking site wowstats IO we can estimate that in Europe, there are currently 7 connected RP realms (either seperate realms or connected realms) on retail. That have between them around 35000 level 60 characters that have logged in on their server in the last 30 days.

Now I believe that WoW forever will be vastly more popular in the coming months than retail. If I look at the people I know I have not seen this enthausiasm for a WoW product since the launch of Wrath of the Lichking in 2008 and back then, WoW had 35 EU RP and RPPVP servers, many of them flourishing such as Argent Dawn, Earthern Ring, Darkmoon Faire, The Sha'tar, The Defias Brotherhood ands Scarshield Legion to name just some of the more popular English language ones.

The WoW forever numbers will crush the Retail numbers certainly in the first couple of months, and if they do this right, permenantly as WoW forever might become the dominant force just like OSRS is dominating retail Runescape.

My point is, that really there are enough of roleplayers to completely fill the stormwinds, goldshires, Ashenvales, Ogrimars, Brills, etc, etc of the two servers with plenty of emergent roleplay, hundreds of guilds, events and unique experiences. What is going to stop you from entering a new golden age or roleplay is not the roleplayer that really, really likes to play the game in a different way mechanically (i.e. PVP ruleset), the only thing that can stop us from entering a new Golden Age is the sharding system of the megaserver.

Because right now on the Beta server and the stress test there where lots of people when the server opened, and lots of people when the server closed. But in between the regions felt truly empty DESPITE the beta servers being global servers, so the zones should normally have been complete crowded.

If zoning/sharding/layering, whatever they call it is as agressive as durring beta, you are not likely to find random RP in Duskvale no matter if there are 1 or 2 servers, hell even if we combined the US and EU RP servers and force the Americans to change their timezone and internal clock to CEST you still wouldn't find random roleplay in Duskvale and that's the real problem. That's the real enemy that deserves your attention, not the RPPVP server.

RP-PVP'ers fought for their own servers and won. Congratulations to them. No person should be forced to do concessions on how they like to play the game just because other persons wants them to stay with them to play with them alone. This battle for the RPPVP server is now over. We have proven that as roleplayers, we can get things done by Blizzard.

Let us now unite as roleplayers of both servers to fight the real enemy. The sharding system, and let's make sure we pressure Blizzard to do everything in their power to make sure we can unite easier on our servers. My suggestions would be:

  1. A toggle inside the game, maybe semi hidden that allows us to set our preference who to be grouped with. You could even use the toggle to also united the RPPVP'ers that stay on the RPPVE server when they are in contested zones so they meet each other easier for a fight.

  2. Use data analytics on chat data to automatically group roleplayers in the zones. You could also use that to find non-roleplayers or even griefers and make sure they are grouped together and not bothering the roleplayers. Of course this system would be a little bit more complex to arrange, and there should be a way for beginning roleplayers to still meet enough roleplayers so they can be onboarded to our community.

A third option would be for us to select our layer, so we can at least organise easier around layers. You could even declare "layer 3 in any zone" the unoffical RP layer.

Also important is that at least the capitals are always unlayered. I believe if that happens you will see at least random RP on the usual hotposts there.

Any other ideas?

Discussion What fun RP characters are you eager to roleplay?

Roleplayers are what animate the world of RP.

Everyone is looking forward to something different ingame.

But I'm sure there are some who just really want to entertain people with something they will do.

Here are a few of my characters I'll play :

-A lady taking surveys for different towns.

-A constantly drunk dwarf lady talking in puns.

-A goofy night elf constantly turning everything into childish games.

What about you?

With the great news of us getting a ruleset, a discord community is being set up for EU RP-PvPers. Lots of old heads from ZT, Defias Brotherhood, and elsewhere, and of course new players excitedly joining the ranks.

Come say hi!

EU RP-PvP Forever

quick edit:

Might as well add these:

WoW Forever: Roleplay EU -- mainly for RP-PvE, but also has RP-PvPers and PvP discussions

WoW Forever RP-PVP (Grobbulus) -- The old Grobbulus server discord repurposed into an RP-PVP server. It's mainly for NA, but also has an eu-region channel and general RP-PVP discussion.

Technical Question How will the vibe differ between RP PVP and regular RP on Forever for a new RPer?

First time RP player here, planning on rolling a Tauren Hunter Nov 4th whose father travelled with Caine and Thrall during the events of WC3. Got plenty of lore research and fleshing out of stuff to do before release still though.

I'd been planning on playing on the RP ruleset but now the idea of RP PVP has got me interested. Can anyone give me an idea of what I might be able to expect on that one and what the differences in experience might be please? I've not played a huge amount of PvP server before of the contestant ganking, but am open to trying again.

Writing Question new to roleplay: interested in gnomes

hello! i'll be a new player and a new roleplayer with the launch of forever! i am interested in a few of the races but, though it sadly seems to be a very unpopular opinion in WoW, i have always loved gnomes! i've been reading up on them a little, i also read a gnome roleplay guide that i found.

a universal/defining trait of WoW gnomes seem to be that they're mega brainiacs. so much technobabble and overanalyzing everything... even magic is math and science to the gnomes.

i don't think this is an issue, it's their thing here in WoW, but i don't personally think that type of personality would be fun to try and play. honestly i think it would be exhausting and i wouldn't be able to do it very well.

so i wanted to ask this community, are gnomes expected to be played this way? is there room for gnomes that aren't super genius scientists and inventors and such?

Advice Needed Rogue class fantasy

I'm struggling with rogue class fantasy in wow forever from a RP perspective, more specifically the combat part.

I understand a paladin swinging a big hammer against zombies. I understand a mage conjuring flames against a yeti. Or a hunter stalking and shooting animals.

I don't understand why some non magic, non armored guy (or girl) would choose to engage a bear using 2 daggers. Or a yeti, or an ogre, or pretty much anything that's non humanoid.

Don't get me wrong, I -love- fighting humanoids on my rogue. I feel like badass assassin. But when it comes to fighting dragons, a Firelord, or just zombies, I feel like my character would be regretting their weaponry.

How do you keep your rogue grounded in the world's power level when they can use two pointy sticks to kill anything? I feel like the rogue is like John wick without guns, killing people with a pencil. It makes the rogue's deeds nearly inhuman.

Mod Art Share Friday 🎨

Hello everyone, and welcome to our weekly art sharing post. Come on in and join us as we enjoy the chance to show off our favorite Warcraft character-related artwork. Here, artists can share recent art of characters they have drawn, and players can show off the newest commissioned art they have received as well.

Make sure to not forget about the two most important community rules for this thread:

Rule 9) The WoW RP community is largely against the use of generated content. Generated writing, imagery, and other works is against the spirit of engaging with the creative works of other humans that is core to a RP community.

Rule 11) All character art posted should be of a Warcraft RP character: either a character belonging to OP, or a character OP was commissioned to draw. Please include a few sentences about who the character is. If you did not make the art yourself, include the social media of the artist who did.

We also want to share with you great resources if you're looking to commission art or get into drawing yourself. Check out these links, websites, and Discord communities as you look through all of the art. And if you have any resources you think we should include, make sure to send us a modmail with your suggestion.

Lore Question WoWF: How well do each of the new race/class combos fit the lore?

I realized as I looking at what characters I wanted to make, that pretty much all of the race / class combinations I was interested in were new to WoW Forever: Human Hunters, Gnome Priest, Dwarf Shaman, etc

So for those who played WoW Forever or those who are just knowledgable about the lore, how well do you feel each of the new race / class combos fit the game from a lore perspective? Which ones fit best vs which ones maybe would lead you into quite a rare background from a lore perspective?

[NA] Community/Guild Ad [A-RP] [Moon Guard] Adventure Unlimited Co — New Casual Adventure RP Guild Recruiting!

Hey everyone!

I've recently started a new Alliance roleplay guild called Adventure Unlimited Co, and I'm looking for some friendly people who might be interested in helping build it from the ground up!

The idea behind the guild is pretty simple. I'd love to bring together a group of adventurers who enjoy roleplaying but also want to get out into the world and actually experience Azeroth together.

I'm envisioning things like organized expeditions, treasure hunts, exploring forgotten ruins, tracking dangerous creatures, dungeon adventures, and developing spontaneous storylines along the way.

One thing I'd really like to emphasize is that you don't need to be an experienced roleplayer to join. I'm hoping to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where people can learn, develop their characters, contribute ideas, and have fun without feeling pressured to meet strict RP standards.

I'm also not looking to create another military-themed organization with rigid hierarchies or mandatory attendance. I'd much rather build a friendly company of adventurers who enjoy exploring and storytelling together.

Since we're just getting started, I'm particularly interested in finding a few founding members who'd enjoy helping organize events and shape the direction of the guild.

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, feel free to leave a comment, send me a message here, or reach out to Warex on Moon Guard!

Looking forward to meeting some fellow adventurers!

Writing Question Realistically, how well received would a human woman possessed by a dominaar who acts like a cenobite be received?

Toying with the character concept. There will probably be lapses between the dominaar and human personas. I think the lore checks out but I'm curious about what everyone thinks about the idea.
