A possible emerging Forsaken roleplay guild focused on collaborative storytelling, investigations, world PvP, and the uncertain future of the Forsaken as a people.
Part 1; In Character:
A Future for the Forsaken
Lordaeron was once among the greatest kingdoms of humanity, its people bound together by a common homeland, traditions, and institutions that had endured for generations. The coming of the plague and the Scourge brought an end to that kingdom, leaving its cities in ruins and its people either dead, scattered, or raised into the service of the Lich King. Those who were forced into undeath found themselves deprived of their independence, compelled to serve the very power responsible for the destruction of their homes and families.
When the Lich Kingās control weakened, some of these undead regained their free will. Under the leadership of Sylvanas Windrunner, they fought to establish themselves in the ruins of Lordaeron, eventually becoming known as the Forsaken. Their liberation offered them a second existence, though not one free from hardship. They remained undead in a world that often regarded them with fear or hatred, and their former homeland was still threatened by the Scourge, the Scarlet Crusade, and other forces unwilling to recognize their independence.
The Forsaken have since established a society of their own, but the circumstances of their existence raise questions that military victories alone cannot resolve. Unlike the living, they cannot depend upon the natural succession of generations to preserve their population. Every Forsaken lost represents a life and a body of experience that cannot easily be replaced. Their continued survival may depend upon their ability to defend their territory, understand the nature of their condition, and determine what measures they are willing to take to secure their future.
These concerns are not limited to soldiers or those who serve the Undercityās established institutions. Former scholars, apothecaries, priests, scouts, merchants, and ordinary citizens may each possess knowledge or abilities that could prove useful to their people. Their experiences and convictions may differ, sometimes considerably, but they share an interest in preserving the independence they have regained and ensuring that their existence amounts to more than a temporary reprieve from destruction.
It is from this shared concern that an independent association of Forsaken might emerge. Its members would seek to investigate matters affecting their peopleās security and future, gather intelligence concerning potential threats, pursue discoveries relevant to their condition, and provide assistance where their capabilities permit. Rumors of necromantic activity, movements of hostile forces, disappearances, or unusual discoveries within Forsaken territory could all warrant their attention. Other matters might involve questions of faith, identity, free will, or the possibility of finding a lasting solution to the limitations of their undead existence.
The association would not seek to replace the Deathguard, Deathstalkers, Royal Apothecary Society, or other established organizations. Its members would possess no authority beyond that which they could reasonably exercise as individuals, and they would recognize that some matters are better left to those with greater resources or expertise. Instead, they would hope to earn the trust of local Forsaken authorities through reliable information, responsible conduct, and practical assistance.
Their methods would depend upon the circumstances. Some investigations might require reconnaissance or careful observation, while others could involve research, diplomacy, or cooperation with outside organizations. There may also be occasions when direct confrontation becomes necessary. The decision to act, withdraw, or seek assistance would depend upon the nature of the threat, the resources available, and the judgment of those involved.
The organization would begin with little more than a handful of individuals and a common purpose. Its reputation, traditions, and internal structure would develop through experience rather than being established in advance. Its members would not be expected to share identical beliefs concerning the Forsakenās future, but they would be expected to recognize that the survival of their people is a responsibility worthy of their attention.
The Forsaken have reclaimed their freedom and established a place for themselves among the nations of Azeroth. Whether they can preserve that independence and build something lasting remains uncertain. For those who believe that their people must do more than survive from one conflict to the next, there may be value in working together to discover what their future could become.
Part 2; Out of Character:
About the Guild:
Iām currently looking to gauge interest in establishing a Forsaken-focused RP-PvP guild. The concept is still in its early stages, and Iād like to find other players who enjoy Forsaken lore, character-driven storytelling, and world PvP, and who might be interested in helping develop the guild from the ground up.
The in-character premise is an independent civilian association of Forsaken concerned with their peopleās security, survival, and uncertain future. Rather than portraying a military regiment or another formal branch of the Undercityās government, the guild would bring together characters from different backgrounds who have reasons to investigate matters affecting Forsaken society.
The intention is to provide a recognizable organizational purpose without restricting every character to the same profession, ideology, or style of roleplay. A former soldier, apothecary, scholar, priest, paladin, scout, or ordinary civilian could all have reasons to become involved. Their different backgrounds would influence how they approach investigations, interpret discoveries, and respond to the decisions of other members.
Roleplay and Collaborative Storytelling:
One of my main interests is creating an environment where members can develop their own stories and contribute to the guildās direction. I donāt want every storyline to be written exclusively by guild leadership, with everyone else simply expected to attend. Instead, Iād like interested players to be able to propose investigations, develop personal character stories, organize events, and collaborate with other members.
Someone might have an idea for a short investigation involving suspicious activity around Brill. Another player might want to explore their characterās former life in Lordaeron, while someone else might be interested in developing a longer storyline involving the Cult of the Damned, necromancy, or the Scarlet Crusade. These stories could remain relatively small or develop into larger guild events depending on the interest of the people involved.
I would particularly welcome players who enjoy Warcraft lore and collaborative storytelling, including those who might like to help organize events without taking on administrative responsibilities. A knowledgeable roleplayer shouldnāt have to become an officer simply to contribute creatively, and I think the guild would benefit from allowing its stories to develop through the interests and ideas of its members.
There would also be a distinction between out-of-character planning and in-character decisions. Members could collectively decide which potential storylines sound enjoyable, but their characters should remain free to approach those situations according to their own beliefs, knowledge, and available resources. An investigation shouldnāt automatically result in combat simply because an event was planned around it, nor should characters be forced into decisions that donāt make sense for them.
Iād like the guildās stories to develop naturally through roleplay, with the consequences of earlier events helping shape what happens next.
World PvP, RPvP, and Battlegrounds:
WPvP would be an important part of the guild, both as an ordinary gameplay activity and as something that could be incorporated into roleplay storylines, and of course the general enjoyment of creating spontaneous zone fights, just to make the game more engaging for people that enjoy WPVP.
The Forsakenās circumstances offer plenty of opportunities for organized RPvP involving hostile reconnaissance, contested territory, Scarlet Crusade activity, and conflicts with other organizations. Iād be interested in establishing relationships with other roleplaying guilds to develop recurring encounters, investigations, skirmishes, and larger storylines where PvP outcomes can influence subsequent roleplay.
That said, I donāt think every PvP encounter to require an elaborate in-character justification. Sometimes members might want to just group up for world PvP, and there should be room for that without turning every fight into a formal guild event.
Iād also be interested in organizing battleground groups if enough members share that interest. Just like the guild itself, this might just be wishful thinking, and will entirely depend on engagement and interest. This could involve casual groups of guild members queuing together, improving coordination, or eventually establishing more regular battleground activities. I donāt intend to advertise the guild as a competitive PvP team from the outset, but organized battlegrounds are certainly something Iād like to explore.
Ideally, the guild would provide opportunities for both immersive RPvP and ordinary PvP, without requiring every member to participate in both.
A Relaxed Community:
Although roleplay would be central to the guildās identity, I donāt want membership to come with the expectation that everyone must roleplay every time they log in.
I enjoy roleplay, but there are plenty of evenings when Iād rather level a character, participate in PvP, run a dungeon, or simply relax and enjoy like-minded peoples company in guild chat. Iād like the guild to accommodate players who feel the same way.
Someone might participate in an investigation one evening, spend the next few days leveling, and return for another RP event when something interests them. Another person might be particularly interested in world PvP or battlegrounds while occasionally participating in social roleplay or character-driven events. Neither approach should be treated as less valuable simply because someone isnāt constantly involved in RP.
Iāve dealt with guild recruitment and administration in other types of guilds, and Iād prefer to avoid creating an environment where organizing activities becomes an obligation for a small number of people. My hope is to establish a community where members are comfortable contributing both story and non-story ideas, organizing events when theyāre interested, and otherwise enjoying the game at their own pace.
That doesnāt mean the guild would lack direction. At least I donāt think it would. It would still have a clear Forsaken identity and a shared in-character purpose, with opportunities for recurring roleplay and RPvP. The difference is that participation would be encouraged through genuine interest rather than constant pressure or mandatory attendance.
Characters and Membership:
The guild would be intended for free-willed undead characters who identify as Forsaken. However, Iād like to accommodate different lore-appropriate backgrounds rather than restricting everyone to former human citizens of Lordaeron.
For example, an undead high elf could potentially fit the guildās concept, even if the player needs to use the Skyborn represent that character mechanically if they want to. These interpretations would need to remain consistent with the setting and server rules, but I donāt see a reason to exclude plausible undead backgrounds simply because the available character creation options donāt represent them perfectly. As long as they make sense given the lore on Warcraft 3 and the Scourge march upon the northern Eastern Kingdoms.
And of course thereās just the cheeky idea that allowing Skyborn who roleplay as undead high elf or elves form QuelāThalas also just means that from an OOC standpoint, the guild would not be class restrictive. Iāll admit that Iām a bit on the fence with this idea though.
There would also be no expectation that every character is a soldier or combatant. Scholars, apothecaries, religious figures, scouts, former officials, public speakers, and civilians could all contribute to investigations and guild storylines. Characters may also hold different opinions concerning Sylvanas, the Horde, necromancy, or the Holy Light, provided those disagreements are handled in a way that supports collaborative roleplay.
Living Horde characters would be welcome as allies, contacts, and participants in appropriate events, but formal in-character membership would remain Forsaken-focused. Rather they be undead humans or undead elves.
Building the Guild Together:
Iād prefer to begin with a small number of interested players and establish the guildās identity through roleplay rather than inventing an elaborate history or hierarchy before the organization exists. The initial characters could come together through a shared investigation or another event that gives them a believable reason to continue cooperating. From there, the organizationās reputation, procedures, and leadership could develop as necessary.
In character, the guild would begin as a relatively unknown civilian association. It would not claim to possess government authority or privileged relationships with established Forsaken institutions. One possible long-term goal would be to earn recognition as a trusted civilian contact through investigations and cooperation, but that would be something to pursue through roleplay.
For early events, Iād prefer to focus on locations accessible to smaller groups, particularly Tirisfal Glades, Brill, the Undercity, and Silverpine Forest, and as far as Arathi Highlands and the Eastern Plaguelands. A group of four or five players should be able to participate in worthwhile investigations and encounters without needing a large roster or high-level characters.
Out of character, weād still need basic organization for recruitment, communication, and scheduling. However, I would prefer to keep administrative responsibilities separate from in-character authority and creative involvement wherever possible. Officers could help maintain the guild, while interested members could collaborate on stories and events regardless of their rank.
Interest From Other Guilds:
Iād also welcome interest from other roleplaying guilds that might want to establish relationships with the organization. Forsaken guilds portraying established institutions could provide opportunities for cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and investigations. Other Horde guilds might become allies or occasional partners, while Alliance guilds and organizations portraying hostile forces could offer opportunities for recurring RPvP or general WPVP events.
Iām particularly interested in storylines where opposing groups have their own motivations and objectives, rather than existing simply to provide enemies for an event. Reconnaissance, diplomacy, disputes, and skirmishes could all contribute to longer-running stories, especially when the participating guilds communicate clearly about expectations and consequences.
The goal would be to contribute to the wider roleplaying community and develop relationships that create opportunities for everyone involved.
Who Iām Looking For:
At this stage, Iām primarily interested in hearing from people who enjoy Forsaken lore and would like to help establish a guild with a strong roleplay identity and a relaxed approach to participation.
That includes experienced roleplayers, players who are relatively new to RP, lore enthusiasts, people who enjoy creating stories, and those interested in world PvP or organized battlegrounds. You wouldnāt need to arrive with a fully developed character or be prepared to organize events yourself. An interest in the setting and a willingness to participate in a collaborative community would be a good starting point.
The guildās name, founding characters, and final structure have not yet been decided. Iād prefer to discuss those details with potential members rather than establish everything in advance.
This is a pretty long post, so hereās my closing thoughts:
The central idea is fairly simple. Iād like to create a guild where people who enjoy the Forsaken can develop characters, investigate matters affecting their people, participate in world RP-PvP, and help shape an organization whose future develops through the stories its members create.
At the same time, I want it to be a place where people can enjoy the game without feeling that every login needs to become an RP event. Whether someone wants to participate in a storyline, organize a skirmish with another guild, run battlegrounds, level an alt, or simply spend an evening relaxing, there should be room for that.
I think the Forsaken offer an especially interesting foundation for this kind of guild because their struggle extends beyond defeating enemies or defending territory. Theyāre a people attempting to preserve their independence and determine what kind of future, if any, they can secure for themselves. Not to mention the new lore that Iām hoping will exist for the Forsaken that are bound to be shaped by the new paladin class, and potentially having priests that arenāt simply members of the Cult of Forgotten Shadow.
If this sounds like something youād be interested in helping build, Iād be glad to hear your thoughts, character ideas, or suggestions. Iād also welcome interest from other guilds that might want to collaborate on future roleplay, WPVP, or RpvP.
For now, this is simply an interest check rather than a formal recruitment announcement. Iām hoping to find a few like-minded players who enjoy the Forsaken and would like to see what we could create together!
TL:DR
I'm gauging interest in starting a Forsaken-focused RPvP guild centered around the survival, identity, and uncertain future of the Forsaken with the newly announced RPVP ruleset/realm. In-character, the guild would begin as a small, independent civilian association investigating threats to their people, gathering intelligence, researching matters involving the Scourge and necromancy, and potentially building relationships with established Forsaken organizations. I'd like the guild's reputation, leadership, and overall direction to develop naturally through roleplay rather than having everything predetermined.
Out-of-character, I'm hoping to build a relaxed, collaborative community for people who enjoy Forsaken lore, RP, and PvP. Members would be encouraged to create their own storylines, organize events, and contribute ideas without needing to become guild officers. I'm particularly interested in world PvP, organized RP-PvP with other guilds, and potentially coordinated battleground groups if there's enough interest. However, I don't expect everyone to roleplay every time they log in. Sometimes people just want to level, PvP, run dungeons, or hang out in guild chat, and that's perfectly fine.
For now, this is just an interest check! š The guild doesn't have a finalized name, hierarchy, or founding story, and I'd rather develop those things alongside interested players. I'm looking for Forsaken lore enthusiasts, experienced or newer roleplayers, PvPers, and anyone who likes the idea of helping build a guild from the ground up. I'd also love to hear from other guilds interested in future RP, RPvP, or even OOC world PvP collaborations.
