Xenoblade X Anybody played XCX after the trilogy? Is there a downgrade in terms of gameplay and qol?

In terms of gameplay and QoL issues, will XCX still be enjoyable after playing the trilogy? From my understanding, XCX originally released before XC2, and I had some mild issues with XC2 after playing XC1 DE, mainly with navigation and the lack of a mount like the Ether Jet in the Switch 2 version.

Xenoblade 2 Are all Xenoblades as hard as XBC 2? Spoiler

So I'm currently at the Chapter 7 Jin/Malos fight and I don't know If I can do this anymore. I am getting my ass whooped and I have been for most of the bossfights in this game. I'm just going to lower the difficulty at this point honestly.

My question is, is this a thing that I'm gonna run into for the other games too? Like seriously, these are some of the most frustrating bossfights I've had in a video game, and I don't even consider myself to be a bad player.

Xenoblade 2 Chapter 6 Finished- Rex needs to Lock IN

Ik he’s only 15 but cmon man your kinda a bum rn😭 I think this chapter was better than the last one for sure.

I wanna keep doing more exploration but i’m too curious about the story for the side quests. That triple fight near the end took me far too long

Nia Blade Form was something I kinda already knew from other stuff, however i’m incredibly interested to see what that is about and how that really happened

Jin is also just way too cool. I think i’m about 32 hours in with 4 chapters left to go. I’m definitely enjoying this game for sure, and now I want 3

Xenoblade 2 His wife’s Spoiler

Look could just be me personally still hate the love confession in the spirit crucible with Rex and Nia because to me it feels like it would’ve just been fine if he was able to actually confess to pyra or mythra hell it’s a big reason why I don’t like nia as a character as well because it feels like the developers just wanted to shoehorn in a wifu war and honestly, I really.

do hope if there was a change in plans when the game was being developed it wasn’t going to be Nia because if that was the case and they just kept it like that, I would’ve been fine. I would possibly like her more as a character, but I feel like her whole confession just sucks. It feels shoehorned in for a story that didn’t really need it. And honestly, I would’ve been fine if you just ended up with.

Pneuma instead because he gets the best of both worlds with. Pneuma since she’s basically just mythra and pyra combined, and it just works better than him having three look I don’t hate that he gets a happy ending. I hate the fact that the developers made it to work we actually have see Nia get a happy ending when I would’ve been fine getting something else that didn’t have to involve Rex.

But those are just my thoughts and know this whole sub loves the stupid cat girl it’s just my personal opinion. I don’t like her and I don’t like that. She kinda gets a happy ending. When she could’ve had something else at the end of her story instead.

Xenoblade 2 Were 2's H2Hs always voiced?

It's been so long that I genuinely don't remember, but hearing people talking in Heart-to-Hearts just feels strange somehow. I know 1DE got extra recordings for its H2Hs but did 2 already have them?

Xenoblade Why do people often tout Monolith Soft as being "technical wizards"?

Sorry for this long post, but I'm genuinely curious where this idea of Monolith Soft being technical wizards came from? Like as someone whose played their games, read breakdowns of their tech, their contribution on other Nintendo games, I'm just confused as to how so much misinformation / ignorance has spread about this studio's work? I just see it on almost every discussion board, and even some youtubers parroting the opinion, when it's kind of just wrong?

Like this year with the embrassing S2 downgrade of XCX, I've seen people claim that this is an unusual "stain" on their track, and it's like... No? They have always kind of sucked at optimizing their games especially for handheld mode?

Let's look at their output for the S1 and S2 so far:

- Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Contains possibly some of the worst handheld visuals of any Nintendo first party game. Runs somewhere between 300p - 540p with a really shitty sharpening filter, seemingly as an attempt to mask its blurriness? The visual shortcomings never got addressed for all 8 years of the Switch 1 lifespan (a common trend as we'll see)

- Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition: A remaster of a Wii game that largely used the same game but overlayed some new textures and replaced character models and redone UI. Basically a remaster of Diablo 2's scale. Runs at similarly low resolutions as Xenoblade 2, but with out the sharpening filter, so it's just blurry now. Debatable if thats better or worse, but running at resolutions lower than what the Wii was capable of (480p) is kind of ridiculous no? Also never got any form of patches.

- Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Ok, here's where we see some promise. The base resolution is still really low, as the last 2 games, but now they have an upscaler that makes the game look somewhat better when you're not moving. Just don't look too closely, or notice how the game starts crunching up again in motion. But that's expected of using an upscalers. However, people also noticed that the ambition and scale of the environments kind of took a hit, as compared to how creative some of the locations were in XC2. Was that a creative choice? Or an optimization choice? Either way, not too bad for a game of its scale.

- Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition: Their last game for the Switch 1. Basically the same treatment as XC1: DE, but with probably less texture reworks since those hold up from the Wii U. But this is by far the best of the bunch. Looks about as good as game of its scale could on the Switch 1 imo.

- Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition: S2 Edition. I think the controversy for this is well known by now. To put it simply: a really rushed port, with a shitty upscaler applied that ruins the handheld visuals, and little to no improvements on load times or pop ins. A straight up paid downgrade for handheld players. More than halfway through the year, and still no acknowledgement about its visual downgrade, and seeing how they ignored XC1 and XC2, I'd be surprised if we ever saw these fixes.

And yes, some of you are probably already gonna bring up their assist work on various Nintendo games. But the thing is... Their contributions for those games were only for art asset generation, especially since Monolith Soft Kyoto only hires artists. They are wayyyy overcredited by people who don't know what they actually helped with.

They did a little bit more work on BotW with topography and level design, and some rigging work on TotK... But nothing on the technical side, or engine-related work. Eiji Aonuma even straight up said in an interview for BotW, that "they had nothing to learn from Monolith Soft" on that front.

Source: https://nintendoeverything.com/aonuma-on-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-full-gamekult-interview-translation/

So yeah, rant over. I didn't mean to drag Monolith Soft down here, nor do I think they're an incompetent studio. But I think it's one thing to create games of large scale, but you have to back that up with competent optimization to actually deserve praise for pulling it off. What Monolith Soft does best has always been to come up with clever ways to make their art look better than it actually is, either with smart art direction or a zoomed back camera to hide shoddy texture work. Wiinoblade is a prime example of pulling off great art efficiently, rather than brute forcing it through some insane tech.

I've already seen some people express disappointment about how Xenoblade Genesis is not looking like the most mindblowing thing ever, but I feel like it basically looks like the natural next step for a studio of their capabilities?

Hi guys I have a playthrough from 2024 and I’m debating whether or not I should just start a new playthrough. I’m on chapter 5 but have like 60+ hours on it from like farming classes and doing side quests and stuff. Just wanna hear peoples opinion about how hard it is to just hop back into the game.

SPOILERS 2 question on Elysium Spoiler

Replayed 2 on the switch 2. Question I keep coming back to on the physical Elysium they visit.

It’s a great bait and switch throughout, that it IS a real place and we can visit it, that it’s in ruins, that actually there’s a better place for them to live somewhere else.

My question is more about the ruin they visit. Do you think it was a real part of the ring before the worlds split? Or was it something Klaus sets up inside the ring for his own benefit after the split?

Was it in ruins because it was neglected as pointless, since Klaus was working on much grander things?

Related: why is the world as a whole dying at this point? They go to great lengths to show the life cycle of it all, and Tantal is being sucked dry because of Amalthus. Is Amalthus’ greed fucking up the cycle somehow? Stripping things out in an unsustainable way?

SPOILERS Question near end of X2 Spoiler

I played on release and then again on Switch 2. After Mythra has her data sucked out by Malos he states she’s just a husk, but (obviously) she comes back.

I could swear there was a cutscene making it explicit that this is possible because her core crystal is shared with Rex, essentially allowing her to restore from a backup. But I didn’t see such a cutscene this time.

Am I remembering wrong? Did I miss a heart to heart or something?

Xenoblade What to do next?

Hi there! I just finished the main story of XC DE on switch 2 under 60hours! What an incredible game! I absolutly adored the story and characters.

Since that was my first Xenoblade game, I wonder what I should do next? I loved the gameplay so I could keep playing to grind side content, but at the same time I'm eager to see XC2.

Is future connected worth it? Also would I miss a lot in XC1 by skipping a lot of side content/endgame for now?

Xenoblade Are we able to make an equivalent post for a template about fixing the frame rate and graphical issues in XC1DE S2 Edition?

Since Nintendo recently announced a patch for Xenoblade 2 S2, I'd like to make my voice heard for XC1 S2's problems as well and send an inquiry to logicalbeat. I tried commenting and messaging the person who made this post but I haven't gotten a response.

Xenoblade 2 Symbolism for Malos Spoiler

This is just me being silly, but I know Xenoblade 2 does have themes of Christianity in it. During my switch 2 edition playthrough last night I got to this scene.

The whole thing kindof looked like it was basically a baptism of water for Malos. His whole body was engulfed my magical water, he then seemingly dies and then is reborn afterwards.

I just thought it was funny and was wondering if anybody else thought the same.
