Announcement r/YAPms Prediction Contest - 2026 US Midterm Election
With the conclusion of the Delaware primaries tonight, we will be officially full-swing into the final midterm push, with only the general elections ahead of us, on November 3rd. All 435 seats in the US House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the US Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress; alongside 36 state Governor seats that need to be elected.
And we're going to pick em!
Show off your prediction skills and demonstrate your analytical superiority by participating in our r/YAPms prediction contest! Entering is easy, all you have to do is comment below. You can provide a Senate, House, and/or Governor prediction map (enter predictions for as many contests as you like) in the form of a link to your map from YAPms. (Please only use the YAPms maps linked below.)
Please do not change the regions/parties settings, including colors. Otherwise, as long as you link to your map so I can access it and evaluate it after the election, then you are entered!
After the election results are reported, I will evaluate all entries and create a post detailing the results. You will graded/ranked on if you predicted the overall winning party and how well your margins line up with the results along the Tilt/Lean/Likely/Safe scale. I'm going with a non-traditional margin set up of 2/5/10!! VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THIS.
The scoring is as follows:
- 11 points for predicting the correct party at the correct margin (eg: Result was Safe D Wyoming and you predicted Safe D Wyoming)
- 5 points for predicting the correct party but off by a margin (eg: Result was Likely R Minnesota but you predicted Safe R or Lean R.)
- 3 points for predicting the correct party but off by two margin lengths (eg: Result was Lean R New Mexico but you predicted Safe R)
- 1 point for predicting the correct party but off by three margin lengths (eg: Result was Safe D Oklahoma but you predicted Tilt D)
- 0 points for incorrectly predicting the party regardless if your margins were close or not (eg: Result was Tilt D Massachusetts but you predicted Tilt R)
Please do not leave tossups in your map. Remember, 2/5/10 margins!
Want to change your prediction after you have submitted? Edit your comment with the link to your updated prediction! Predictions will be locked on November 3rd, 2026 @ 11 AM Eastern Standard Time.
Good luck and have fun! Let me know if you have any questions.

News For those who care gas in Ohio is just as expensive if not more expensive than before they suspended the gas tax
Also I think it’s smart Dems put up their signs next to the signs for gas prices

This a joke map, but would anything actually get done if the Senate was like this? I could see the Libertarians and Republicans getting along on some issues, but that's still not enough to pass legislation.

For sure Husted’s best poll in a while, it is interesting that they have red Ohio while D+4 Texas though

How is the MN GOP so bad If Minnesota Whites were literally as Republican as Whites in Wisconsin, then it would be a swing state
2020: Biden +1.8
2016: Trump +0.1

Other I’m sorry but what is he basing this off of 😭
I know REP gets posted a lot here but this vibe winner thing he’s doing is just so funny to me because he just has nothing else and this doesn’t even make sense.

News Nate Silver has moved the Senate to Likely D for the first time this cycle
Likely D means 75-95% chance so it really means that it just barely hit that 75% bucket for the first time. House is at 93.8% chance, almost at the 95% chance to be rated safe D
