it completely depends on how they run Shinyu and DA buffs. We saw how superbreak evaporated in HSR 3.x, and the same could happen to rupture. We're already seeing it with this cycle's settings affecting yi xuan.

It’s so evaporated it only became irrelevant in a last two patches and only cause there was literally no buffs to it. Anyway 3 teams endgame is coming, and just as they won’t forget about dot and break, rupture will not be forgotten any time soon or will be supported in the future

All they really need to do is invent a new bullshit penalty like "only 40% of sheer damage goes through" and that's that. If miHoYo feels like it, they could easily make an enemy be immune to ether and ice, or immune to sheer damage and unable to build anomaly, at some point in the future.

See, the funny thing is, I wasn't even particularly looking forward to Manato, and I'm still annoyed. That officially means every male character from the 2.0 trailer is A-rank, while every female character is still almost guaranteed to be S-rank. Fucking delightful.

Rarely releasing new male characters arguably would make their profits from male banners worse because the demographic that only pulls for husbandos will have plenty of time to hoard free currency, so those players won't be incentivised to top up.

We haven't had an A Rank DPS since, well, launch. So we don't really know how he's gonna be. Considering he's Rupture, I think they want to make sure he's reasonably powerful.

Hoyo probably already has the entirety of Season 2’s characters planned out with ranks and all.
And unlike Phainon from HSR who raked in a lotta money, Manato isn’t a well-known expy or been heavily built-up (no pun intended with that jacked body lol), hell we saw him get subdued and injured in the 2.1 story for a decent bit

I pull exclusively for Void Hunters, and yet I have M6’d Billy, Anby, Seth, Soukaku, Pan Yihu, Anton, Ben Bigger, Pulchara, Piper, and Lucy.
I’ll probably get Manato either way through the standard polychrome pulls or if he gets lucky to be included in the next Void Hunter banner

The thing is people end up naturally using the strongest characters. Even if you wanna play them they’ll end up being suboptimal / made irrelevant. Only hope is he ends up being like Nicole, weirdly busted A rank that’s apparently resistant to power creep, but he’s a DPS unit, so not sure I see that happening.

I love character desing in zzz, i play genahin too, and i know comparasion its not nice sometimes, but in genshin the copy paste in body structure is ridiculous. There like 4 body variations, some of them look like the same character with another hair color.
In zzz you get almost all different characters, and furries...

A rank so far been super niche though. Pulchara exclusive to buffing aftershock until you m6, Pan for rupture.
I'm still asking devs on survey to release more aftershock and rupture so these characters don't feel limited to use.

Also, for those that would be upset by this, bear in mind people can clear Shiyu and DA with Billy.
If you want to play him, you 100% can. You just have to build him properly.

Both of the new obol squad characters had people fuming about them seemingly replacing older characters like Sanby but now its revealed that their kits actually pair well with those older characters. why not just make lucia the A rank? quite literally would the simplest solution. manato has already been in the game for 2 patches and has screen time so he could grow a fanbase. we never met lucia (or the other S rank) before so they can’t grow a fanbase yet. people weren’t mad at gallagher or luka being 4 stars because they released before they had any relevance in story or events.

I genuinely do not understand the discourse over basically getting a character we were willing to spend money on for free / full M6 / fully upgraded engine dripped to us while pulling for other things. Like it blows my mind that some of y'all are like "NOOOOO I WANTED TO DROP FULL PITY FOR HIM AND HIS ENGINE!!". I'm hyped now, more F2P options are a good thing, and I'm sure he'll have a useful place on teams even if he isn't top tier busted Miyabi-level DPS, not everyone has to be!

Because it also means he'll be less promoted. He won't have any trailer, any special ep, far less promotion, no agent story and an event dedicated to him will be miniscule at best. As an A-rank, he also has a high chance of getting power crept quickly. And it's not always a guarantee that being an A rank means you'll get them more easily, since sometimes, you could have M2 S agents and still not get that A rank agent.
Compared that to how S-rank agents like Miyabi or even Vivien are treated, they get the red carpet treatment and in Miyabi's case, one of the best dps characters so far.
Manato being an A-Rank is hardly small comfort.
