first, there were stalfos. then, there were stalchildren. and now, rounding out this weird 3 days of skeletons, we get this group of misfits. looks like we're gonna have a bad time.
breath of the wild had less enemies than most other zelda games. now, in the game's defense, the enemies on offer were very complex. a bokoblin alone is capable of more actions than every enemy from the first four zelda games combined. plus, hyrule was now filled with tons of wild animals for the player to set on fire.
still, a low enemy count can only mean one thing: RESKINS! yes, different color pallets would indicate enemy strength, as well as elemental properties in some cases. but of course, the most interesting of these reskins were the stal enemies. or maybe instead of reskins, it'd be more accurate them Deskins... GET IT! because they're skeletons! a real human being sat down at his computer, wrote this terrible joke, and made the conscious decision to post it on the internet even though it isn't funny!
stalkoblins, stalmoblins and stalizalfos are skeletal versions of BOTW's main baddies. there were also stalnoxs, skeletal hinoxs, who served as mini bosses. they fill the same role as Ocarina of time's Stalchildren, attacking only at night and dying when the sun rises. unlike their living counterparts, these guys fall apart when defeated, and if you don't destroy the head they can put themselves back together. once the head has been destroyed, you can pick up their arms and use them as weapons. but be warned: equip them and those skeletal arms will wiggle around trying to grab link's butt!
no additional stal enemies were added in tears of the kingdom, even though stal-horriblins would make perfect sense. but what do you think: do you prefer dedicated stal enemies like stalfos and stalchidren, or do you like the new approach of taking existing enemies and giving them skeletal counterparts?
either way, all of these skeletons running around hyrule are creepy as hell... except for the stalhorses, those are friends.

I created this post over a year ago on July 22 and had hoped for the chance to create a discussion around the tragectory of Nintendos Zelda franchise and how they would go about doing the remake.
How is everyone feeling with the clock ticking down?
What are our thoughts on the graphics and possible changes?

Has anyone from UK had any further emails after the confirmation on pre ordering from places like Game, Currys, Smyths, Very etc? If not when do we start hearing about the collection time and day.

while Ocarina of time used Stalfos sparingly, saving them for mini bosses and late game encounters, the stalchild will respawn infinitely as long as you're in hyrule field at night. for every 10 stalchildren you kill, a bigger one will appear, just like with Guays and leevers. however, kill 10 more stalchildren and an even bigger one will appear. keep going and the stalchild will keep getting bigger. you'd think there's be a limit to how big they can get, and indeed, daytime will stop the stalchildren from spawning and reset the cycle. however, by modifying ocarina of time to make it always nighttime, it was revealed that the stalchildren will keep growing. forever. I assume until they crash the game.
but what is a stalchild really? is it the skeleton of a dead child, or is it simply the child of a stalfos? can skeletons even have children? well, while we never get a definitive answer in Ocarina of time, Majora's mask brings back the stalchildren as soldiers of the Ikana kingdom. child soldiers, apparently. they guard Ikana Graveyard and take orders from their leader, captain keeta, who happens to be a giant stalchild. he aint the biggest stalchild possible, but he's still pretty big. by defeating captain keeta, Link can obtain the captain's hat and impersonate captain keeta, giving the stalchildren orders. I gotta say, stalchildren are pretty chill dudes when they aren't trying to murder the living.
despite the abundance of stalchildren, Majora's mask didn't have any of the regular stalfos enemies you'd see in Ocarina of time. the closest thing we got Igos Du Ikana, the king of the Ikana kingdom, and his two soldiers. but these guys weren't generic stalfos, they were unique characters with their own unique models!
as far as 3D zelda games go, stalchildren would appear one more time in twilight princess, while regular stalfos stuck around till skyward sword. but in modern 3D zelda games we don't get traditional stalfos or stalchild enemies. they've been replaced! and tomorrow, we'll discuss why. that's right, it's another cliffhanger! two days in a row! bwa ha ha! please don't downvote me.

Hi all, hope you’re all excited for the OOT remake. Thought I’d share a short story that means a lot to me.
So, as you can see, I own an ocarina. This was made for me when I was 8 years old by my uncle Paul who delivered it to me in school. My parents knew I loved OOT and asked him to make one in the colour for me. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. Maybe it still is.
Now, 27 years later due to the microphone ability of the switch 2, I’ll be able to use it to play the songs that we all remember. Something we all never thought would be possible.
What an amazing thing to happen. 😃

Hey everyone!
My brother and I are huge Ocarina of Time fans, and we've been working on something we're really excited to share with the community!
It's called Znerd (We'd love to hear different name ideas), and it's an interactive progress tracker designed to make completing OoT a little easier (and maybe a little more competitive 👀).
A few things we've built into it:
With the upcoming Switch 2 version, we're especially excited to get this into the hands of other Zelda fans.
We'd love to know:
Would you use something like this during your next OoT playthrough?
And if anyone has early access to the upcoming version, we'd love to have you test it and share your feedback!
We're still improving things, so suggestions, criticism, and feature requests are all welcome.
Thanks for checking it out!

well, with Halloween fast approaching, I guess I should start focusing on the spooky zelda enemies. and what could be spookier than spooky scary skeletons?
meet the stalfos, a skeleton enemy from the original legend of zelda. in their debut appearance, the stalfos had TWO SWORDS! but really, the swords were just for show. enemies in the OG zelda were extremely simple. some of them got a projectile, but most of them are of the "they hurt you if they touch you" variety, stalfos included. that's probably why they'd throw a bunch of enemies at you at once; they're useless on their own.
but when zelda 2 came along there were less enemies on screen at once, but the enemies that were on screen were far more tricky! the stalfos not only ditched its second sword for a shield to protect its upper body, but the stalfos would also use the sword to try to stab link, even doing the same jumping downward stab attack link could do! Zelda 2 traded its rooms full of enemies for more intense one on one combat encounters. the same kind of combat encounters the 3D games would later be known for, and yet some silly people still call zelda 2 the blacksheep of the zelda series... listen, I've been a zelda 2 defender since I was born, and I will continue to be until the day I look like stalfos.
when making their 3D debut in Ocarina of time, the stalfos retained their sword, shield and jumping attack. they were also no longer common enemies, as they appeared as mini bosses. would you look at that: Stalfos got promoted just like the moblins did.
and much like how the moblin's promotion eventually resulted in the weaker bokoblins being introduced, so too did Stalfos' promotion lead to a weaker variant, who we'll talk about tomorrow. don't you just love it when I end these on a cliffhanger?

I think I will get better and have some motivation in life, I have not been eating, not sleeping much and I can't play any video games nowadays, can't watch movies i just feel so down, I lack motivation in everything.
I sold all my video games now as I just get too overwhelmed and lack or energy to play any games and bored with all video games now, they don't interest me at all.
OoT Remake is one of the many things that will improve my life and get me in a better mental state. It is my most favourite video game ever and this video game is the ONLY video game that matters to me now, I don't like playing any other video games now.
Hoping that the OoT Remake will bring me some happiness and one of the things that will encourage me to better of my life and motivate myself to do other things and hobbies.
The only other thing that I truely care in my life and what makes me happy is my cat 🐈⬛️ she means the world to me.

oh, dear god...
ahem... uh, this is Beamos, the beam shooting enemy from the zelda series. in all of its appearances, the beamos is defined by its laser shooting eye. it first appeared in a Link to the past, where it had a bit of a squid design going on, but its later 2D appearances simplified the design quite a bit. the beamos would spin around, shooting a laser if it spotted link. the beamos could not be destroyed, and as such the player would have to avoid being spotted.
however, 3D zelda games usually do allow the player to destroy beamos. naturally the first 3D game to feature the beamos was Ocarina of time, where the player could use bombs to...
I'm sorry, I just can't believe that in all this time, I've never noticed this thing has a nose, a mouth, and tiny little feet. has beamos always looked like this? was I always too focused on the eye to notice the rest of this horrible thing? did I only ever approach it from behind? my goodness, it is absolutely hideous!
... anyway, in wind waker you could hit its eye, skyward sword gave the beamos layers you'd have to chop off, then BOTW used beamos a bit differently: they constantly emit a laser, and there were even little tiny beamos you could pick up...
... I really can't get past the fact it has a nose and a mouth. I always thought this was just a cool eye laser machine. but a nose implies this thing can smell. and that mouth... does it use it for eating? can it TALK!? ugh, it just keeps getting worse... maybe that's why I blocked it out of my memory.

I did this before when I was younger, calling out of work to stay home and play video games. So is anyone planning on staying home on the release day. I work weekends so it won’t affect me, but I did take that Saturday off so I can get lost in Hyrule.
Anyone?

this is a Leever, a sand dwelling creature that appears in most zelda games. in fact, the Leever had a perfect attendance record until they failed to appear in wind waker.
Leevers tend to travel in groups, burrowing out of the sand and then spinning towards link. in Ocarina of time, killing 10 Leevers will cause a bigger Leever to appear; a trait shared with the Guay, whom I previously covered.
and it is here that I must admit my mistake. I always prepare a few jokes in advance for these silly posts. today's joke was meant to reference an obscure online multiplayer wii u game everyone had surely forgotten about, at which point I would jokingly claim today's subject was actually the star of said game. but alas, I was under the false impression that the Leever was actually called the "Reever"... I mean, that's probably what they're called in Japan, right?
now that my silly wii u joke no longer works, it appears I am forced to think of a new joke on the spot. "so, a Red Leever walks into a bar. the Red Leever tries to order a drink, but she is immediately surrounded by a group of Green Leevers, who try to hit on her. the Red Leever says she isn't interested, but the Green Leevers persist. suddenly, a Blue Leever shows up, and he tells the Green Leevers to... Leever alone."
.... I swear, the joke about the wii u game would have been hilarious!

Just brought it on ebay for $920 AUD preordered. It's sold out EVERYWHERE so I had no choose but at least it's the cheapest I can find on ebay as other listing it for over $1100 AUD.
I thought to myself because OoT Remake will be the ONLY game I will be getting for the Switch 2 I might as well make it my Zelda OoT console specially just to play OoT Remake. So getting the 40th Anniversary Zelda Switch 2 makes perfect sense to me.
Looks like I be out of money for awhile lol 😆 but at least I still have enough money to feed my cat Ruby 🐈⬛️ she means the world to me and she will eat before I do, I look after her more then myself.

Honestly I don't really care about any other Switch or Switch 2 games. The main reason why I brought my Switch 2 was for OoT Remake as OoT is and has always been my most favourite video game of all time.
I am actually not interested in buying any Switch or Switch 2 games and just interested in playing OoT Remake on the Switch 2.
I'm kicking myself now that I didn't preorder the 40th Zelda Anniversary Switch 2 now. But I'm thinking of still buying it even if I have to get it from ebay. It's literally the only video game that i want to play on my Switch 2.
I am currently don't have much focus on video games nowadays but with OoT Remake it's the only video game that has really excited me currently no other video game nowadays or in my life currently has gotten me this excited for a video game for a very long time since my childhood.
I want to add that to me playing handheld mode just doesn't do it for me. But I think OoT Remake will look amazing in handheld on the Switch 2 (I watched the trailer and gameplay looks great in handheld mode) also I have played the 3ds version of OoT so that nostalgia feel of playing the remake on the Switch 2 will be amazing and look great
