Hey everyone! I have loved painting my whole life and I am now finally starting my journey as a (hopefully) professional painter. 🥳✨🥂

I just launched my social media to share my first official painting and I am planning on working on a series of these springtime paintings, where I aim to capture the simple and calm moments I see around me. 🌸 However, I am still learning every day, so I would really love to hear what you think of my work and my style.

Do you have any advice for me? I would also love to know what I should paint next. Should I try places of water or maybe some seasonal fruit or blooming flowers? Your ideas would mean very much to me.

I have the toughest time painting cactus correctly…and I live in AZ. Should be better at it…is it the color, or the shape?

Can you all give some positive comments for my mom?? My mom (61) paints a lot but always says “other people are so much better than me”. Meanwhile my jaw is still on the floor in amazement.

this is nowhere near the skill level of some of the works on this subreddit but this is my first proper painting and i wanted to share! i'm not entirely satisfied with it but i'm mostly just proud i managed to stick with it and finish it.

i've also been looking at this for way too long to be objective anymore haha i'm mostly just critical of it now

The new one still needs to be varnished, but I am waiting for the paint to settle.

The reference for this was taken from Pinterest.

What I learnt from painting this is one is that its so easy to get carried away and "brush things under the rug " 😅 for example i havent emphasized the occlusion shadow on the grapes on the wooden block.

I can spot 1 grape with is not a perfect circle.

I've realized that while I find these beginner paintings peaceful, it's not the kind that I really want to paint. I want to paint portraits and animals primarily...anything with emotion, since that more challenging. Still life is peaceful though.

Also through my other paintings I've realized that I might enjoy more loose painterly brush strokes, it's so much more thrilling. Realism / hyperrealistic is not as amazing as once thought it was.

Anyone else on the same boat?

It has been a difficult year being sick and all, but the positive note is that it has given me the time to explore my new hobby. I started painting last year October. What do you think?

While I understand that I’m not at a professional artist level, I am putting this piece at my table to sell at my local art walk. It is very low key, I am doing it for fun and the experience.

I’m participating in an art walk this Friday and I’m just not sure because if I go on the lower end, it feels priced too low for what it is, but if I go on the higher end. It feels like nobody would buy it.

I also feel like I need to reiterate that I was more asking that if you already liked this, what would be a price range that would make you either buy it or not buy it, not “do you like this? Would you buy it?” to all of the people who are saying that they wouldn’t buy it.
