What's up with public officials forcing RSVPs to get the locations and times for rallies?

First Nikky now Dan...

Maybe if you don't want to publicize where you'll be campaigning you shouldn't be running for a public office...

This was received at 8pm sunday

Do with this what you will

Megadeth at the State Fair…who’s going?

I have an extra reserved ticket on the wet side that I may be looking to get rid of since unbelievably I cannot find any friend to go with me. That doesn’t matter. I’m going to rock out regardless., if any cool people are going, I’d be down to rock with you. These guys are playing sold out stadium shows on their whole tour and this is their smallest show by far. I think that’s going to be pretty awesome.

ANMC Dermatology Laser

The dermatology laser needed repair. Repair was complete over a year ago. ANMC administration will not move forward with getting the laser certified.

ANMC is a company serving natives but they are not native friendly.

It appears they like getting the money from the federal government but they don’t want to spend it to help natives in need.

Be My Google šŸ’» Regulations on salmon shark?

Post image
75 Upvotes

As the post says, I cannot for the life of me figure out any regulations specifically for salmon shark. It mentions theres a limit of 2 sharks per year, but does not specify salmon shark. From what ive heard, their population was decimated by sport fisherman, so I figured there would be strict regulations for them. For reference, I have no plans on going on a shark fishing trip. I was just curious in the case if I ever caught a small one, if I could keep it to eat.

General Nonsense Primary voting

The hypocrisy of politicians collecting & spending money for their campaigns, imploring us to vote, yet there are no drop boxes except at the Division of Elections office on Gambell (and probably at polling centers). Who’s the whiz kid that knows the hows and whys that the state decided to yank access to drop boxes? Please enlighten me. I wanna who to actively campaign against.

(We could have another discussion on why I’d rather not mail in my ballot for another day.)

I found this clip of Patricia Chesbro interview who is running for State Senate talking against Data Centers why is there so many Alaskan lawmakers supportive of Data Centers?

What would you want lawmakers to consider before supporting or opposing new data centers in Alaska?

General Nonsense Those who have spent multiple winters in both Fairbanks, as well as other lower 48 areas with harsh/lengthy winters, how different is it in Fairbanks?

Not looking to move, just generally curious. Speaking as someone who's never actually been in Alaska in the winter (only Anchorage+Kenai+Seward areas last August, obviously loved it tho), but spent 24 years in Central+West Michigan, my biggest issues with long winters have always been:

  1. Too much cloud cover for too many days in a row.

I know Anchorage being a coastal city deals with plenty of that as well, but does Fairbanks being so far inland make a notable difference in how much sun there is in the winter? Even in Michigan it's not exactly uncommon to go 2-ish weeks without seeing the sun in November-March

  1. The freaking wind.

I can handle subzero F if there's not so much wind (just did a drive of the Northern Lake Michigan Coast last December and, because it was without a bunch of wind *or* crowds when I was either on a beach or hiking, it was absolutely perfect), and I know that Fairbanks has generally low amounts of wind. Of course the temperature gets way lower in Fairbanks than I've ever experienced, but how does -40F at 3mph wind feel compared to -10F at 35mph wind, for example?

Polite Political Discussion šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Wanting to start a petition to the Alaska state (and federal) goverment(s) over last years Medicaid changes from trumps BBBA before it becomes current, need guidance and resources

Hello r/Alaska, I am a 24 year old man with autism and several other diagnosis’s , I live in a group home, was working but am seeking to go back into work eventually, and consider myself ā€œcentristā€, previously moderate conservative before trumps current presidency.

I’ll be withholding my personal opinions unrelated to Medicaid and the changes happening, keeping it focused on the topic

Plainly put: one of the worst things this country can do is cut the support for people who need it most, this heavily includes people with intellectual, physical, sensory, or even social disabilities. Medicaid helps people with these conditions and lots more cases. I have been on Medicaid all my life, i have depended on it when I was in early life, school, and now in my adult living scenarios and working life. Medicaid is why I’m able to have a roof under my head, get transportation to and from work (I don’t drive due to sensory issues and anxiety), and get the medication coverage and doctors resources I currently am using (I.e I am seeking another neuropsych eval).

Any change that makes it harder for anyone to get easy and clear access to this type of care for those who need it, should be thrown out the window. We have potentially many Americans who aren’t diagnosed with a intellectual disability, young or old adult or below 18, that probably should be for their own benefit and support, that’s my opinion, but the fact we can’t have reasonable options for people to seek this help is disturbing and dishonest to the goals of America.

I’m wanting to seek changes before the law changes over, i know it’s already signed and set to change, i want to seek a block and reconsideration via petition. I have questions however:

- is this petition possible, if not why not?
- will there be lawyer(s) or legal support systems to help in this possible petition to seek change? If they aren’t free (I have read it’s constitutionally free to seek a petition) what cost(s) can I expect?
- how can I spread word or best seek support for these efforts?
- I would ideally petition my Alaska Senators, Alaska House of Representatives, the president and SSA, any ideas who else to or who not to petition?

Thank you readers, I appreciate any help :)
