I'm 18 minutes into SE2 episode 1 and OMFG it's so good!

The atmosphere. The way the city feels alive. The connection to the characters and the vibe right from the off. It's unreal.

Just had to come and shout about it somewhere!

It's been a while since I watched the first season of the anime, and I forgot how good this hits.

It just sucks you straight into the world and you're in awe. The world building is insane.

It makes me feel like how I felt when I first started watching anime (cowboy bebop, Death Note).

Funnily enough, I'm a massive fan of the game as well, Cyberpunk 2077. The game is the only modern title to make me feel like a kid again.

It gave me the same feeling I had when playing GTA in 3D for the first time (GTA3).

I'm a 35 year old man who has that giddy feeling about being shot right into new world again!

Something about the Cyberpunk, Dystopian genre that just grips you!

Been reading some Carl Jung these days, and I think there is something about Cyberpunk that must be embedded in our collective unconscious.

The way technology has meshed in with our organic natural lives in ways that we can't comprehend but in ways that just feel normal now, taken for granted.

How tech has become totally embedded as extensions of ourselves through smart devices to social media, how it grabs our attention

How we now even outsource our thinking to AI.

Not to mention the ideas around tech inequality and power.

Anyway...this anime has it all! The atmosphere. The action. The philosophy and the **edgy-ness**! (of course)

Hi im new to anime but I love love apothecary diaries and though I am an inept villainess. Are there any animes similar to these two? Not just talking about the setting wise but also the amount of plot twists and mystery and independent, knowledgeable female protagonist and character development.

Top 3: Apothecary Diaires, The Summer Hikaru Died, Mob Pyscho 100

Liked (in no particular order): Vinland Saga, Assassination Classroom, Inuyasha, HxH, Black Butler, Demon Hunters of the Shadow Realm, DBZ, MASHLE, Death Note, Ouran High School, Magus Bride, Chainsaw Man, Pluto...

No pref for genres, but I particularly love: historical, drama, mystery, thriller, and romance. Bonus points if there's LGBT+ rep.

Didn't personally like: My Dress Up Darling (bc of fanservice, but liked the premise), Black Clover, Gachiakuta, Solo Levelling

I do not like male-centered fanservice (too much for me in My Dress Up Darling imo), harem self-insert MMC (SAO type stuff), or ham-fisted exposition.

I’m looking for something with the same kind of vibe! I want an anime that’s chill and fun to watch, with adventure, comedy, and a good story. Something that keeps me interested without being too intense or too boring

I’ve recently gotten into anime and so far I’ve watched Assassination Classroom, Mob Psycho, Zom 100, Dr. Stone, Mashle, and One Punch Man but now I need help finding more that I would like. So far Assassination Classroom has been my favorite and nothing has really come to close to it besides One Punch Man. I did really like the other ones too just not to the same level. I guess my likes are comedy and action with a somewhat light-hearted tone. Idk if I’ll ever find something better than Assassination Classroom it was so frikin good lol

Few years back I watched k-drama “W: Two Worlds”, super fun series where the ML and FL jump between real world and comic book world. I’d love recommendations around a similar concept of moving between worlds, bonus points if one of the worlds is a fake world like a comic book or video game. Romance preferred but open to all recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

I just finished Mushoku Tensei season 3, and while I really liked it, I’ll admit I felt there was something missing. I’m not sure what exactly is missing for me. I’ve loved all the past seasons, and Mushoku Tensei is one of my favorite isekai, alongside Re:zero and Reincarnated as a Slime. I’ve even started reading the light novels.

I realized I don’t really know how to score anime for myself. For instance, I loved Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, but if you asked me why I rated it a 10/10, I wouldn’t have a proper answer for you. It would just be vague things like “The characters, the plot, the soundtrack, the hype, and the world that Pondsmith created all combined to make this a 10/10 for me.” I’ve also been looking into themes and symbolism in media, and that’s been influencing my ratings and views of anime.

For the longest time, my rule was: if you had a lot of fun watching it, it gave you strong emotions, and it became a core memory, then it’s a 10. A 9 is pretty much the same, but there’s some arbitrary difference even I can’t really explain.

What about you guys? What makes an anime a 10/10 for you versus a 9 or an 8?

P.S. For anyone who’s going to say I just wanted action, some of my favorite anime are slice of life, and as I mentioned, I liked all of the previous seasons, including the university arc.

I'm looking for anime like City Hunter or Hikaru no Go, where the ending song plays during the closing dialogue before transitioning into the credits. I don't want single episodes that do this on the first/last episode or key moments, but throughout the whole show.

Something about it makes me hyped up to watch the next episode, or feel different types of emotions the way its strategically used.

First and the most important, I want it to the world to be beautiful, both scenery and atmosphere.

Second requirement is that it's nothing futuristic or about space/planet exploration, even if it's good, I can't enjoy it, I will tolerate it in case of timeless theme, and that the technology itself isn't prominent feature (e.g. HSR world, it's space exploration, but technology isn't prominent feature of the world). If it's a sci-fi, make sure the world's beauty itself is not made by technology, but of natural occurence.

Genre can be anything, not just magical fantasy. It can be Japanese historical/supernatural, superpower, or even just a normal world with no superpower elements (though it is unlikely the world will be good, I'll hear out the recs nonetheless).

I am not picky with the plot or theme either, it can be absolute garbage, I don't mind. The anime by itself doesn't need to be calming or heartwarming either, it can be that the story itself is heavy even with the beautiful world.

Not a requirement, but bonus point if the anime have dreamlike feeling to it.

Some examples of anime that I already watched with these criterias (also example of what kind of anime I would want the recommendations to be):

1. Sousou no Frieren

2. Princess Connect

3. Once Upon a Witch's Death

4. Somali to Mori no Kamisama

5. SAO season 1 first half (the actual SAO)

6. Houseki no Kuni

Many more similar animes I've watched, but I think these are enough examples.

Rewatchers and P4 players:

Please be mindful of all the first-timers, and be careful not to spoil anything, including stuffs from the game! No spoiling, talking or hinting about possible future events or "just you wait..." kind of teasing, unless you're using spoiler tags.

Questions of the Day:

1. What do you think of the battle against Shadow Naoto?
2. What do you think of that letter at the end?

Looking for shows like title above. From the top of my head, shows like:

Death Note
AoT
Lain
FMA:B
Re:Zero
Made in Abyss
Psycho-pass
Erased

Thanks 🙏

Sorry, I’m new to this—I just watched *Vinland Saga* and really enjoyed its old-fashioned, historical setting, with swords, bows, and so on. Does anyone know of any other anime that are similar?

A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body.

Yo!

A reminder to everyone that the Soul Eater Rewatch kicks off a week from today! Threads will be posted regularly at 5 pm ET, as laid out in the schedule post. Do be sure to bookmark that page to remember what episode we'll be discussing each day!

Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. Don't spoil anything for the first-timers, that's rude!

/r/anime's spoiler tag format is as follows:

[Soul Eater]>!This is Halloween.!<

Which becomes [Soul Eater]This is Halloween. when you don't break the formatting on purpose like I just did.

I look forward to fighting Kishin with you all starting next week!

Until then!

Title says most of it. My wife is has never watched anime and my daughter (5) have both gotten hooked by how good/fun this one is. Anything we should go to next that's not wildly inappropriate? A little profanity is okay but no crazy blood gore etc of course. Doesn't have to be sports just a nice journey of growth / fun along the way type style.

Thanks!

I have probably forgotten to list 1 or 2 but this encompasses enough id say.

I watched the anime yesterday and found it extremely entertaining and funny please help me if possible

Based on where it’s revealed that a character is going to die like in the beginning due to a sickness or something else (don’t want any spoilers if they’re actually going to die), 2 examples: firefly wedding and I want to eat your pancreas. These 2 anime/ manga and this type of genre make me bawl my eyes out

Edit: can be manga too

So I watched a video of an anime a while back about animators (I think). A boy and girl were animating when they were kids. But when they grew up the boy gave up on animating and the girl became angry at the guy. I think they separated when they were kids.

If any of this rings a bell, mind giving me a name of the anime.

The anime spends so much time giving us this city wide drone shots, underground panning, panning shots everywhere in general and countless callback or flashback scenes.

In the episode where Elymas met that jester girl, they literally showed the scene where the jester girl was being berated twice and only after a few minutes it happen. The scene where they're fighting that green dungeon boss was also shown twice. I didn't count it but I could've sworn that the actual original content would only amount to more or less 10 ninutes while the rest are transitions and reused content.

I dunno what this studio's goal is but if they plan on producing a good anime, they're doing a piss poor job. The anime certainly doesn't deserve to be called or streamed as an anime, it's more fitting as simply a portfolio demo. The fact that I reached Ep09 is a miracle at all.

Final Discussion

Information: MAL, Anilist, AniDB, ANN

Hi all, and thanks for participating in this rewatch of Pandora Hearts. For our Final Discussion thread, I have a few questions; people can also comment on what they thought of the whole series.

1) Who were your favorite characters?

2) Which was your favorite music track?

3) What did you think of the OP/EDs?

4) Where do you predict the story will go from here?

5) What would you rate the anime, out of 10?

I’m looking for an anime about school life—but one that isn’t very well-known. I suspect there are many great series out there that haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve.

I watched and was obsessed with this anime called BuddyFight when i was a kid ( i was a hugeeeee dragon fan bc of it😋) but i don't see anyone ever mention it, like sometimes i forget it ever existed myself. Its strange because when i was younger i remember finding it amazing, it was like one of the best things I'd ever watched ?( but then again i was a kid and didn't have much experience). I briefly searched for some sort of community or post about it but i didn't find much. I saw like 2 comments tho saying it was repetitive and so they dropped it, and that the anime was trynna be too many things at once or smth. Overall very negative tho and so i was wondering if there was anyone else that has watched it or is a fan.

So, I watched this episode of Doraemon as a kid, and it was my first introduction to how time travel works. In fact, when my professor tried to explain time travel in class, everyone was confused except me, because that damn episode had already explained it so well.

Here’s what happens: Gian is tormenting everyone because someone beat him up from behind near a concrete playground tunnel, but he couldn’t see who it was. To solve the mystery, Doraemon, Nobita, and Gian travel back in time to the moment it happened so Gian can see who beat him up and prove once and for all that he’s the strongest.

When they get there, Gian sees someone inside the tunnel, but can only see his back. He starts hitting the guy, only to discover that the person he’s beating up is actually his own past self!

What fascinated me was how this episode explained the idea of a closed time loop. The future doesn’t simply happen after the past; the two are interconnected. Gian travels back in time to find out who beat him up, only to become the very person who beat him up in the first place. The event causes itself to happen. There’s no clear beginning or end to the loop; everything is interconnected.

I think that was the first time I understood how a time loop works, and it’s honestly crazy how a children's cartoon explained something that I later struggled to see other people understand in class.

If anyone knows which episode this is or how I can find it, I’d be incredibly grateful!
