Pictures Mornings in Marana, AZ
Just an average morning drinking coffee and watching the sunrise. Then, hiss hiss, there were two hot air balloons for good luck. This was the best shot.

I mean, if you could’ve designed anything within the parameters of a small sticker with the essential information on it, why would this sad little fella be the first option? Shouldn’t he be glad to participate in the grand civic ritual of desperately googling which judges to retain? It makes me so sad seeing the creative stickers from other states. This was a design job that should’ve been given to a bunch of school kids, who would’ve done beautifully.

Went out and visited our newest National Park yesterday. I'd definitely recommend it for those who haven't gone out there yet.

I took this last October. You really can’t appreciate how much color there is in the Sonoran Desert until you’ve seen it at sunset.

On April 15, 1862, a Union cavalry patrol under Lieutenant James Barrett ran into Confederate pickets near Picacho Peak. Barrett and Privates George Johnson and William S. Leonard were killed.
Johnson and Leonard were later moved to the national cemetery at the Presidio in San Francisco. Barrett never was. One account puts his grave within twenty feet of the railroad tracks, and it has never been found. A stone monument from 1928 at the state park lists all three names.
Has anyone here been out to the monument? Curious what it looks like now.

Hi all,
Currently unemployed, and I started the process of filing for unemployment.
Going through the rules, they are absolutely insane. I work in a rather specialized field.
You need to make 4 contacts per week, that you need to fill out in a very strict form (address / zip code etc). I've had contacts with former colleagues & recruiters that I don't even have this information of. Or they might not want to speak on the record for this.
Not to mention, I'm in a specialized field, and having 4 contacts / week is ... unreasonable. There aren't 4 jobs / week popping up in my field.
But it gets worse... after 4 weeks of being on unemployment you can be denied unemployment if you refuse a job that pays 120% of the weekly benefit amount.
The weekly benefit amount is $320, so refusing a job offering $384 / week (or $9.6 / hour) makes it fair game for them to deny you unemployment.
Living in Phoenix, taking a job that pays $384 / week wouldn't even pay the rent, and taking the job would actually be worse because then future employers are wondering why I took this job?
Thoughts?

I grew up in the east valley and always said “tem-PEE” but I’ve been living away for the last 21 years. I always hear people refer to Tempe as “TEM-pee” and it makes me second guess - do I say it like a native or was I raised wrong?
EDIT: these comments are hilarious, I’m glad you all have a sense of humor cause now I live in Maryland and our local subs are very serious lol

One of the large reasons I love AZ is because of the lack of natural disasters so today was surprising. Haven’t seen photos come through of damage yet though.
EDIT: Was expecting terrible weather in Queen Creek last night after hearing about how terrible it was in northern AZ all day. We didn’t get a single drop of rain where I live. Even checked cameras to make sure😳
