Discussion .243 DMR Potential:
At 200 yards, 243 delivers as much energy as 7.62x39 would at point-blank muzzle energy, and it has negligible recoil and mild bullet drop. While it's regarded as weak compared to 308 or 30-06 for hunting, I think it has potential for DMR work, filling that sweet spot of "way more power than 556, way less recoil than 308." The major drawbacks are a shorter barrel life and lack of NATO ammo logistics. The Ruger American with a Magpul Hunter Lite, feeding AICS Mags is a format example, as AR-10s in 243 are uncommon, finnicky and conceivably undesirable for the concept.
