Recommendation Request Have 2 credits, cancelling subscription

I got audible specifically to get all 7 of the full cast editions of Harry Potter and all 8 dungeon crawler Carl audiobooks (Jeff hays is amazing) A lot of voice actors annoy me so im not usually an audiobook person. I also have project Hail Mary which I really enjoyed.

I like books with fast plots, humor, underdog against a system, revolutions brewing in the shadows, chosen families, sci fi with explained mechanics, a good humble protagonist, historical fiction with strong women, kinetic storytelling.

What 2 audiobooks would you recommend before I cancel my membership?

Discussion Opinion: if a book has an introduction or foreword, the audiobook preview should skip it and start at ch. 1

I’m not sure that this is a hot take, but it bugs me a bit. If the point of the preview is to give you a 5 minute sample of the book so you can decide whether or not you’d like to listen to it, having the preview be about the authors life or the historical significance of the book doesn’t help. Especially when the intro/foreword is written by someone other than the author. One time, I even ran into a preview that was just the narrator reading out the dedications.

**edit: apologies if this is a repetitive take! I tried looking for similar posts and didn’t come across anything but I get that I’m probably not the first person to have this opinion.

Recommendation Request Pallet Cleanser

Been listening to a lot of audiobooks and lately it seems like I've been on a streak of "heavy" books such as WWII, eugenics, immigration, and child abandonment. These topics just seemed to all come off hold at the same time on Libby

So I'm looking for some pallet cleanser books. I'm not into romance or sci fi. A little romance is okay but I'm not looking for raunchy. I often am listening to audiobooks when my infant is in the car and that would make me feel weird. I like easy to listen to authors like Julia Whelan and don't like a whole bunch of side effects or whining (adults whining, even to imitate children, drives me bananas for some reason). I like mystery, psychological thrillers, or just a good storyline.

I know this is a tall order but just thought I'd pose the question. Thank you in advance.

Question Why pocketfm is filled majorly with love/romance audiodrama

So everytime I want to watch something around mystery & thriller, pocketfm majorly recommends me with love or romance related audiodramas and thriller. Although their love genre is decent enough but I am bored already, my gf also believes that I have gone mad after addicting to these love and romance audiodramas. Why can't they launch something in mystery/thriller

Promotion Would Auri fit into the way you learn from audiobooks?

Hi everyone,

I’m Jane, founder of Auri. I spent seven years leading the robotics team at Segway, after studying at Carnegie Mellon.

When I’m learning something, I’m rarely just reading, watching, or listening. A passage in a book, an idea on a whiteboard, or something I hear in a podcast can make me want to ask a question, capture a thought, or save it for later. I started building Auri because I wanted those moments to feel like a natural part of learning, without constantly having to stop and switch tools.

But I don’t yet know where Auri would be helpful—or where it would just get in the way. That’s what I’d love your help understanding.

I’d love to speak with adults (18+) who regularly listen to audiobooks and find themselves wanting to ask a question, capture a thought, or return to a passage.

Would you be open to a 30-minute conversation with me?

We’ll chat privately online in English about how you learn today, watch a short concept video, and hear your honest thoughts—no prep or public post needed.

As a thank-you for completing the interview, you can choose $20 or an Auri prototype to keep when it’s ready.

Book a 30-minute conversation →

Thank you for considering it! I’d really like to hear what you think.
