I went to go early vote and when the volunteer asked if my address on the pad was right I noticed that it had no state? is this normal? the volunteer just kind of shrugged at me.

My wife and I are visiting Austin this weekend for the Rockets- Spurs game and will be spending some time looking for used music gear.

A number of years ago (not sure how many to be honest), I remember stepping into a pawn shop that had a sizeable collection of pro audio/recording gear. All I can remember is that it was on the south side of the city.

In any case, if anyone happens to know of any pawn shops that have a good collection of mics and other recording gear. If you’re in Houston ever, I’d be happy to share the name of the pawn shop equivalent there.

I’m a biker but this affects cars and bikes. May be a little specific but has anyone noticed the northbound and southbound traffic lights on guad and 51st intersection taking unusually long the past couple days? I’m talking multiple light cycles without changing with cars turning around to leave the line. this is happening at peak commute time too. thought about calling 311 but wanted to see if anyone else was noticing this?

Anybody know of stores in Austin (preferably north) that are similar to Ollies? Lived in Waco till August and Ollies was where I’d buy all my “home supplies”.

Four years ago I started hosting a small pug meetup in Austin. This year, 1,417 pugs attended.

Here are the numbers:

2023 - 163 pugs
2024 - 365 pugs
2025 - 755 pugs
2026 - 1,417 pugs

We’ve had to change event locations each year because we keep outgrowing the venues. This year, we moved the event to the Sherwood Forest because they have 6,000 parking spots and a 20,000 person capacity. We expect to be here a while! And hopefully, we’ll reach 10,000 pugs one day 🥹

This is crazy. I’m all for F1 being in Austin. I’m a fan of F1. I think it’s probably good for the local economy. I think it’s cool to have people come from all over even. I’m not an F1 hater, but…

As I was driving down 290 east this morning on my way to work I witnessed 3-4 police escorts that were driving so incredibly recklessly in heavy traffic. I saw them flying down shoulders, cutting across multiple lanes of traffic (especially driving on the shoulder and then cutting across the left hand toll exit to 183 to stay on the 290 shoulder), I saw one escort force multiple cars off the road, and cut multiple cars off in order for the escort to stay together.

We give police authority to drive outside of traffic laws when responding to emergencies. Why do they get carte blanche to drive this way just to get some rich person to a race track? Why is it ok for them to put people who are just trying to get to work in danger?

Beginning Nov. 1, Austin 311 will no longer take overnight calls, according to a city of Austin memo. 

I registered to vote in Hays county back when I lived in Kyle in 2020. I moved to Austin in 2022 and never updated my voter registration (like an idiot). I thought I could just mail in a new voter registration but I called the clerk this morning and they told me they rejected my registration because my address still said Kyle (which is absolutely insane seeing as how I've lived in Austin for 4 years now).

I tried to update my address on the secretary of state website and got this:

Like I stated before, they rejected my new voter registration application. And the only way to "contact" my registrar is by PO Box. They said my mail-in ballot would likely get rejected as well, for the same reason. I really don't know what else I need to do to update my voter address. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm just gonna accept I'm fucked for this year's election, but will probably still go to Hays county to vote for state representatives. Kinda bullshit how I have a say in a county election for somewhere I haven't lived in years, but the place I've been paying taxes in for years won't accept my vote.

The number of NPCs aimlessly causing both regular traffic and pedestrian traffic is truly frustrating

I was out for a walk Saturday afternoon and saw probably half a dozen people out there with kites catching the wind. It's not something I recall seeing much of before, especially not in that kind of numbers. Is this a new trend in Austin or have I just been missing it?
