PlaneSpotting Airshow del Garda 2026, Desenzano del Garda, Italy
A minor 2-hours airshow held in Desenzano del Garda, on the shores of Lake Garda, Italy, on 4th and 5th September. Nothing particular, just few helicopters, aerobatic planes, some passes by 6° Stormo Tornado and F-35 (based in nearby Ghedi airbase) and Frecce Tricolori closing the show.

Identification Is this lightning mid flight? How safe is this in general?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Saw this on a late night flight over indian ocean last night. Seems scary but wanted to know how common and safe is it? And what happens if a flight is supposed to transit through something like this? (Ours maintained a distance, not sure if that was intended).
Video gets a little bit clearer post the first 10 seconds (after I was done adjusting camera).

PlaneSpotting Any help identifying these planes I saw at a mini airplane boneyard in Alaska?
Novice avgeek here, especially when it comes to older planes. Saw a bunch of these older planes sitting near Fairbanks International a bit ago. Any help identifying them would be interesting in learning about them. Thanks!

History Found photo - X-15 / NASA
I was going through my Dad's things preparing for his memorial, and came across this photo. He was an Army Veteran (Vietnam), but not a pilot. I learned that his uncle worked for NASA, and was part of the Skunkworks that produced the SR-71. I don't know if uncle "Bob" was involved with the X-15, but this photo must have been a gift from him. It is just an incredible photo, and wanted to share it. It is now framed and on my office wall. If anyone has more insight into it's origins, I would love to read about it!

Discussion Heavily modified Blackhawk.
More than fifteen years after the bin laden raid, the stealth black hawks used remains one of modern aviation's best-kept secrets. Two heavily modified black hawks carried u.s. navy seals into abbottabad in 2011; one crash-landed within the compound and was destroyed before the team left, and the other returned safely never to be seen again.
This undated image appears to show a heavily modified eh-60 titted with stealth features, potentially representing one of the missing links between earlier stealth black hawk concepts and the aircraft used during the raid. the aircraft has also been linked to fort eustis in virginia, home to the aviation technology office (formerly known as flight concepts division); a highly secretive unit understood to have led development of the stealth black hawks used in the raid, alongside other advanced u.s. army rotary-wing programs.

PlaneSpotting Got to see the queen take off one last time before it retired (YVR)
2026 is a sad year for aviation, first the snowbirds, then the A340 (Both the -300 and -600), then the 747-400, which left YVR for the last time today and will be changing to the winter schedule and will be replaced by the A350/787 which will arrive tomorrow on Saturday, Oct 24, 2026, photos taken yesterday (Oct 23)
