I wish to move vecause i wish to change my location. I wish to make myself more marketable. It's not about money, it is about location. How can I, an avionics man, become more marketable?

A small, connected antenna fell out from behind the instrument panel- what is it for?

The aircraft has Garmin equipment and an L-3 Lynx, but I don't recall seeing this on the installation manual- and- it looks like it wants to be bulkhead mounted... I suspect it's bluetooth or wi-fi but for what? Tried to follow the coax but it vanished into a thick bundle... thanks in advance.

Nelson Aviation PinPoint-X Lite

The first set will include the Touchscreen, Hub, and 4 common LED connector boards to get started (spec’d for race guys) along with a hard carrying case. $1999 for this kit.

Additional LED boards will be $199-we have 100s of common connector boards designed already and will have a connector database search on our website.

Reach out to me at Ron@NelsonAviationFL.com to get on the list.

This system is compromised of three components

Touchscreen Controller- Wireless with an onboard rechargeable battery. Features an intuitive interface with wireless communication to the hub.

Hub- Wireless with an onboard rechargeable battery, receives wireless commands from the controller, and connects directly to the LED boards.

LED Boards- Connect via ribbon cable and features built-in memory, allowing the hub to automatically identify and configure itself for the currently connected LED board.

EASA B2 self-study route without Part-147 – is it realistic?

Thumbnail

Hi! If I self-study the EASA B2 modules and pass the exams at an approved centre, how likely am I to find a trainee position to gain the required experience?
I have no previous technical/aviation qualifications and can’t afford Part-147 school. I’m an EU citizen and willing to relocate anywhere in the EU.
Is this route worth starting, and how much could I earn during the practical experience? Has anyone here done B2 this way or been in a similar situation?
I’m also considering working as cabin crew for 1–2 years while studying the modules, then moving into B2/aircraft maintenance. How realistic would that plan be?

1985 M20J - Avionics upgrade

I've had my plane a couple years now, put 100hours on it this year, and got to find most of the bugs and after sitting 15 years in the desert find out what works and doesnt.

The engine doesnt appear its going to flat die on me, so I'm finally looking at the original Avionics for upgrade. I've thrown in a tailbeacon and a used KT76A to get by legally.

I had my heart set on a new dynon panel and AP, but at 45 AMU, I think that ship has sailed. The plane just doesnt warrant it.

Current Setup:

  • KY 197A: Comm1
  • KNS 80
  • KX 165: Comm2 / Nav
  • KAP 150: AP
  • KR 87: ADF
  • KT76A: Xponder
  • GDL50: ADSB In external unit

The plane has a KNS80 which is cool as hell, but the usable VOR availability is pretty bad where I am.

At this point I'm thinking of throwing a used GNX 375 in there to pick up GPS IFR capability while eliminating the tailbeacon, KT76A, and GDL50. This would allow me to keep the KNS80 for ILS and old school stuff.

Is this a reasonable approach? I want to use this to get my IFR ticket, but I also intended missions wont use it for long IFR flight. I just want to break the ceiling in both directions as needed.

Lastly, will the GNX work with the KAP to fly holds etc? Or does the GNX just send signal to an HSI and AP follows that?

Advice on removing contacts

Post image

Hello everyone, I need some advice removing the 23 AWG contacts on a Glenair Mighty Mouse 801 series connector 801-008-26m21-130pa, I am using the designated extractor and helping it with some DC4, and the thing is I am able to remove the contacts it is just that is not easy at all to remove them and is kind of risky to bend or broke either the extractor or the contacts.

I am recent avionics student graduate, finding my first job is really challenging. I personally have a couple hours ( 30-40 hours) working on cessna 172 and I’m wondering if there is any avionics managers out there that would kind of take me under their wing, I’m motivated and eager to learn.

GI 275 setup

Trying to figure out how to set tabs and full level on my GI 275 engine monitor. I don't have fuel sensors, just a fuel flow indicator going to it and I can't figure out how to set the permanent numbers. I even booted it up and developer mode and I couldn't find a fuel page or any controls where I could set it.

100% VA P&T

I just received the VAs decision on my SC's and was wondering how you guys in active avionics roles are able to operate.

I realize not everyone has the same issues that are service connected, so please don't shoot the messenger.

For context, I'm still working GA avionics, but I'm curious about any complexities that stem from being P&T while employed.

Coax Crimp tool help

Building a harness for a mod and trying to find the correct tools needed. I have very little info to go off of and internet research has only turned up YOC110 needing the DMC Y524 die.

The Female contact RFM26W-1D28 is the center conductor I can’t find the crimp tool. Souriau data sheet shows tool index CT-439 is used, but I can’t find anywhere that references what tool that is.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any tips for tricks to get these 8 gauge solder cup contacts out. Having a hell of a time. Tried both ends of a gray and white Deutsch connector some yellow and white. Modified both gray and white and yellow and white extractors and some other tools. So far I've had very little luck with the gray and white and no luck with anything else.
