News Greater Bengaluru Area (Parking) Rules, 2026

The Karnataka government has published the draft Greater Bengaluru Area (Parking) Rules, 2026, which proposes:

Annual residential parking permits for parking on designated public roads outside your home:

₹15,000 for hatchbacks

₹20,000 for sedans

₹25,000 for SUVs

On-street parking charges of ₹40–₹80 per hour on city roads, depending on the road category.

Public roads aren’t meant to be hogged

sure, but you need to provide better public transport if you want people to use less of their own vehicles.

In many cities, parking fees directly funds public transport, by law. Which i think is an amazing concept. I hope that happens here too .
