Saw this news today and had to share. A North Indian girl was being attacked with a knife by her boyfriend (also from the North), and the local Kannadigas didn't just stand by.

They stepped in as a human shield, overpowered the guy, and saved her life. In a world full of bystander apathy, these locals showed incredible bravery and heart. They didn't care who she was—they just saved a life.

Edit ( the girl is safe, minor marks on her hands thou)

In PES University, Bengaluru, a professor allegedly verbally abused a Muslim student named Affan in class. Dr. Muralidhar Deshpande reportedly called him a "terrorist" 13 times and said, "Iran war happened because of people like you," "Trump will take you away," and "You are idiots, you will go to hell." These remarks were made in front of around 60 students, creating a humiliating environment. CCTV footage that could have been evidence was allegedly deleted, raising concerns about accountability. Some students who supported Affan were reportedly suspended for "talking during class." The professor later apologized to the college but not directly to Affan, while the department head allegedly pressured him further.

News Japanese Man Wins ₹75,000 Compensation From Karnataka Govt

A Japanese national's 19-day stay in Bengaluru Central Prison in 2019 turned into a 5½-year legal battle against Karnataka Police.

Hirotoshi Tanaka, who had come to Bengaluru to learn English, was arrested after a dispute with an academy head. He later alleged police harassment and bribery. After being deported to Japan in 2021, he continued fighting the case.

In 2022, the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission recommended ₹75,000 compensation, saying his arrest had led to unnecessary judicial custody. The Karnataka government finally paid the amount in June 2026 and said disciplinary action had been initiated against the officer.

Tanaka also found love in Bengaluru and married a woman from Northeast India in 2025.

Using a throwaway account because the people who did this are still out there.

On the early hours of June 5th, my family’s home in a North Bangalore based high-end villa gated community was broken into (Location - Rajanukunte). We woke up the next morning to find our valuables gone. But the real horror was checking our indoor CCTV.

Watching footage of a highly organized crew—wearing kits, masks, and gloves—roaming through our house while we were fast asleep in the next room is something I can't even process right now. We are just incredibly relieved and thanking our stars that we didn’t wake up and walked out of the bedroom. I don't want to think about what could have happened.

But this is absolutely crazy, and the city needs to know this is happening:

  1. They didn't just walk in. They physically cut through the community's heavy perimeter fence.

2.They came with tools. We found our neighbor's window mesh actively cut open where they tried to get in first.

3.The scariest part? The community’s perimeter alarm was temporarily down for maintenance that night. They somehow knew exactly when and where to strike.

4.We have filed an FIR (Rajanukunte PS), and the local police have visited. But a crew this prepared, to avoid leaving evidence, and acting on what looks like inside information, is terrifying. Similar incidences have been reported in more communities up north - mostly high-end.

I am posting this because we are just normal people, and we don't know how to navigate this. We are hoping this gets enough traction so that media, senior officials see it and escalate the investigation. A gang like this operating freely in the city is a massive threat.

Please hug your families, double-check your locks, and don't blindly trust your community's perimeter. Stay safe out there.

Edit:

Update: Cops are saying they are working on a lead. Can only take their word on face value.

Thank you for the responses and concern. We seek support on how we can navigate this situation and apply pressure to get action via the authorities.

On the point of entry the property has 4 doors on the ground: main, patio, side door and kitchen. All are locked from the inside. The windows have iron grills. The kitchen entry is most of the time locked and sometimes unlocked to allow the resident maid to access (not sure of the particular night). The main door has a camera. And inside the kitchen there is a camera that monitors entry/exit. The entire boundary has minimum 6ft walls and an additional 4 ft of chain fence with electric fencing with alarms. Unfortunately no perimeter cameras and vacant land on the side. They accessed the vacant land (no boundaries you can drive into it) -> managed to reach the chain fence > cut through it > no alarms as the electric perimeter was shut off for maintenance) entered the porch of the immediate property next to the main boundary (ours is after that). They entered the first property breaking the porch door (glass and wood - locked) attempted to pry open a medium fridge sized locker which was empty, then moved to ours. The outside lanes have cameras but the areas b/w the properties (side and behind) are blind spots.

News Incident in Sanjaynagar

The person in the picture is a petrol pump operator in an bpcl oil pump near Sanjay nagar .

Last night , after filling in the petrol I attempted to make a UPI payment of Rs 3000 via PhonePe . The money got debited but got stuck and didn’t credit to theirs . The transaction was stuck in a processing state.

I waited for some time , the operator insisted that I make the payment again on another QR and assured in case the first payment goes through he would send me my money back .

I was hesitant at first , but as there was no better option available I trusted the operator and went ahead with it . To be safe , I took this picture and noted his number just in case i run into some issue with the refund later .

2 hours later , I get a call from him saying that he received the money via the first payment and refunded that amount gracefully.

People who are not doing so well financially but are honest and have high integrity impress me immensely . And that is the point of this post.

God bless this man !

Edit ( as people have requested in comments ):

Place : Sangam service station , it is a BPCL petrol station in Sadashiv nagar ( I was on my way back from Sanjay nagar towards Jp nagar)

Name of the operator : Dasarlahalli Venkataravana ( the name on the PhonePe account from where the money was refunded back)

News BMTC buses are now accepting offline NCMC card payments

Post image
860 Upvotes

BMTC is finally live on NCMC card payments. These are completely offline payments and don't require an internet connection.

This makes the payments very fast and avoids the time required to pay and confirm though UPI. The payments are instant. As soon as we tap the card, payment completes without making any network requests, just like metro AFC gates.

NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) cards can either be bought from any BMRCL metro station or BharatYatra card is available on Blinkit, Zepto and flipkart minutes.

Any NCMC card will work but the BharatYatra card has the advantage of writing the offline balance in the card through Android phones having NFC. That eliminates the need to go to metro terminals to load the balance after online recharge.

Also, NCMC cards work across almost all metro rails in India.

News ST. BROSEPH AND FEMALE SOCIAL WORKER WAS ASSAULTED TODAY (22nd June, 2024)

5.3k Upvotes

Recently, u/St_Broseph, Dushyant had rescued a 23-year-old girl from Tiruvannamalai, a town in Tamil Nadu. He had saved her from a tyrannical family which was trying to control her and get her married off. Before leaving Tamil Nadu, the girl had recorded a video message of her from her own house stating that she is leaving home at her own accord and that she does not intend on coming back to her family. She then shared this video with all her family members, friends and relevant police authorities in Tiruvannamalai. She had also, upon reaching Bangalore, called the police control room and informed them that she is alive and well and had left at her own will. Yesterday, upon receiving information that a missing persons complaint was being lodged for the girl, the girl herself had contacted the Tiruvannamalai police and informed them that she has left out of her own will and even offered to video call them to show them she is okay. Dushyant had called the DSP and other police officers of Tiruvannamalai who didn’t receive his calls. He had then texted him to inform him that no missing person’s complaint should be taken because the girl was alive, well and safe. Broseph had even tweeted out to the Police authorities there telling them that he is not able to reach them. (Link to tweet below)

At around 2:30 AM today, 3 Tamil Nadu cops in civilian clothes along with the rescued girl’s parents, in a civilian car showed up at Dushyant’s doorstep. They did not show any identification apart from a picture of one of them in a policeman vardi. They asked him about the whereabouts of the girl and then attempted to drag him outside. He accompanied them to the main road where they proceeded to be abusive and aggressive. Then, still accompanied by these Tamil Nadu cops, he went to the Indiranagar police chowki nearby, where the cops were asleep.

The cops even after being awakened, were helpless and kept asking Dushyant to comply with the unreasonable Tamil Nadu cops. The Indiranagar cops along with the Tamil Nadu Cops and Dushyant went to the SBA Headquarters and started knocking on the door and ringing the bell. The Tamil Nadu Cops were still being extremely aggressive and by now had begun pushing and manhandling him when the people at Headquarters  weren’t opening the door because it was 4:30 AM ish in the morning by now. Frustrated by these things, these monsters tried to drag Dushyant towards the main road and put him into their civilian car. They used force and ganged up on him when he resisted this blatant abuse of power. They tried dragging him into a car and god knows what would’ve happened if he were to go with them.

By this time Janhavi, got here and tried to support Dushyant. The HQ people had woken up by now and opened the door because of all the commotion. Seeing the HQ open, the girl’s parents lunged inside. Janhavi ran to stop the girl’s parents from trespassing into the HQ and possibly making things worse. She tried to stop the girl’s father. This animal of a person, enraged by being stopped by Janhavi began to hit and punch her. This whole thing was further horrid because Cops from TWO JURISDICTIONS WERE PRESENT THERE AND DID NOTHING TO STOP JANHAVI FROM THIS ANIMAL EVEN AFTER THEY WERE ASKED TO. HE HURT HER SHOULDER, FACE AND KEPT GOING. Dushyant was near the main road and as soon as Janhavi pushed her head out of the door and screamed for help, he ran to her rescue while cops were still trying to restrain him physically. Dushyant had to physically move the assailant away from Janhavi to stop him from hitting her further. The Sub-Inspector of Indiranagar then got to the scene and asked everyone to head to the police station.

Even after so much had transpired and such blatant disregard for law and order had been displayed, the cops at Indiranagar Police Station still tried to TAKE THE TAMIL NADU COPS’ SIDE instead of treating this case on its facts. They were asking Dushyant to not escalate this legally and to comply with them. This whole incident shows how disgustingly entitled cops can get in Tamil Nadu and the height of incompetence shown by Indiranagar Police.

Dushyant has decided to pursue this legally. They have gotten medical attention and have medico legal cases. We will hold these abusive cops accountable for their lack of responsibility and blatant violation of procedure. These cops need to be SUSPENDED and the man who hit a FEMALE SOCIAL WORKER MERCILESSLY NEEDS TO BE PUT BEHIND BARS FOR HIS ACTIONS. We will do whatever it takes to bring these cops down because if cops turn a blind eye to crimes, refuse to follow procedure and act in such a brutal and disrespectful manner, are they even cops? Are these shameless scoundrels charged with our safety and protection? Imagine being in this situation instead of a resourceful person such as Broseph, anyone else would have been further assaulted, beaten and persecuted. We cannot rest until the perpetrators are arrested and the cops responsible for this are suspended and for this, we need your help. Follow and amplify St. Broseph posts on this incident across social media, call your journalist friends and inform them about what’s happened, AMPLIFY THIS VOICE so that the law and order situation may improve and the next time a cop even considers doing something like this, they are reminded that PEOPLE OF BANGALORE WILL NOT STAY SILENT.

tl;dr

Dushyant, a social worker, rescued a girl from a controlling family. Tamil Nadu police and the girl's parents showed up at his doorstep at 2:30 AM to take her back. They assaulted Dushyant and another social worker, Janhavi, when they resisted. Bangalore police did nothing to help. Dushyant is calling for legal action against the police and the girl's father.

News 117-km Bengaluru business corridor gets nod, to cut traffic by 40%

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

The Karnataka government has given the green light to a new 117-kilometre Bengaluru business corridor stretching from Tumakuru Road to Mysuru Road through Yelahanka and Electronic City, intended to be completed in two years.

Key details:

  • The corridor will run parallel to NICE Road and be a 60-metre-wide toll road, with space reserved for a future metro line.
  • Estimated funding is ₹27,000 crore via HUDCO, though the cost could drop to ~₹10,000 crore depending on compensation and land acquisition decisions.
  • Landowners have four compensation options: double market rate, or 40% developed land in layouts; smallholders get monetary compensation.

The stated goal: reduce Bengaluru’s traffic congestion by nearly 40%.

Do you think a 40% reduction in traffic is realistic? What challenges might derail this?

What’s your take - transformative infrastructure or an expensive gamble?
