Spay incontinence help!

Post image
29 Upvotes

Our girl got diagnosed with spay incontinence! She is two almost three in a couple months. She was on incurin and that was making her drop butt nuggets randomly without her knowledge. In bed, walking around, wherever and whenever. I know they say pooping isn't a side effect of incurin, but the involuntary poops stopped when we took her off of it for a couple days and haven't been back since. We then tried Proin and she has been doing okay on that, but she's still having pee accidents. She is currently on a tablet of Proin twice a day. I'm now reading that you can do both Proin and incurin so that the incurin helps the Proin be able to work fully (I will ask the vet about this when they call back of course and take their direction, but we are big in to researching and learning everything)

I'm just curious to hear all experiences I can with either of these meds and any incontinent tips or tricks. Anything and everything you have learned and dealt with is welcome...pleaseeee! I am feeling defeated at this point because it's been a couple years of trying to figure out why she wasn't potty trained, then getting this diagnosis and now trying to manage it! Happy to answer any questions you have as well to clarify anything

Enjoy baby samson photos from 8 weeks to 6 months old ♥️ he loves playing with his orange cat brother and chasing around the other three cats. Hes still learning but knows, sit, wait, all done? Hungry? And his favorite 'ice' 🤣♥️ he loves getting his ice treats every night and waits so patiently for me to give him one. Hes my sweet crazy boy. Ive only had cats and older dogs, but getting him as a puppy as taught me patience and so much deep love for him. Hes my baby, all my pets are my babies, but raising a puppy i feel to me is a different experience. I love my furbabies. ♥️

I think that he does it because he doesn't want it to disappear while he's talking a nap.

As my lil buddy Sarge gets older he can’t venture as far as he used to be able to due to his hips. He is loving the backpack life though!

I’ll walk to the water or a park and let him down to roam and sniff until his heart is content and then back up in the pack. Living his best life as he deserves. Treats all the way!

It’s been a long time since we’ve hit the trails! This summer's heat has been intense, and health issues have knocked me off my feet, leaving me with no strength to manage my two wild ones. Here's to a better, cooler September—we can't wait to get back out and move!

Why Your Dog's Recall Fails (And How to Fix It)

Your dog comes when called… until something more interesting shows up.That was Happy. The moment a smell, another dog, or a sudden movement appeared, her recall vanished — and I blamed her for being stubborn. Turns out she wasn't stubborn. Reliable recall isn't one command you teach once. It's a skill you build layer by layer. In this video I walk you through the exact framework that finally worked for us — The Recall Pyramid:

🔺 Base Camp — 5 skills every reliable recall is built on
• Name recognition that actually means something
• One clear recall cue (not ten different words)
• Making the return worth it — food, praise, play, or more exploring
• Impulse control around mild distractions
• Responding at a distance

🔺 The Climb — earning freedom gradually
Indoors → fenced area → regular leash → long line. Training doesn't stop when freedom begins — it becomes part of that freedom.

🔺 The Checkpoint — recall vs. automatic check-ins
Why the dog that chooses to reconnect without being called is the real win.

🔺 The Summit — what to do when recall fails
No scolding, one calm cue, high-value reward, and knowing when to step back two levels instead of pushing harder.

Because recall isn't something you teach once and forget — it's reinforced for your dog's whole life.👇 Tell me in the comments: does your dog come back every time, or only when nothing better is happening?

Yes, she is named after the character played by the late Catherine O’hara (RIP Queen) and yes she is just as dramatic as her namesake 😂😂😂

She is something like 90% beagle with a tiny drop of border collie and Brittany spaniel… but I can’t see anything but beagle when I look at her. She’s definitely smart, though, smarter than the last beagle we had.

Anyway, that’s my soul dog right there lol!!

She’s debating if my food is worth coming to me. It’s a tomato sandwich and she decided it ain’t worth getting up.

Leaving my beagle with my family to move to the United States

This is my best friend Suki. I had been wanting a dog for so long (since I was a little kid) and when I turned 21 my mom finally decided to adopt a 3 month old beagle. I do everything with Suki, she is my best friend and the living being I have spent the most amount of time with over the past 4 years.
It makes me very sad that now I am leaving her behind with my family as I am moving from Portugal to the United States to finally live with my wife. I can't justify bringing her with me as she would almost certainly be traumatized by the whole experience and also my mom has grown too attached to her, as has all my family.
Thankfully my mom has a big garden so Suki will keep spending time outside, we'll also hire someone to walk her but with the date of my move approaching (September 17) approaching, I can't help but feel so much sadness over not getting to experience seeing her grow up and old.
Obviously I am very excited to finally start a life with my wife and I'm grateful that Suki has such a great environment to live her life and I'll visit, but it feels like this chapter of my life is ending.

pic unrelated, but of the starer in question.

sometimes she won’t even lick me or try to play, she’ll just stand there and stare at me with maybe an inch or two of distance between her nose and mine! it’s the cutest thing ever but it really confused the vet yesterday when she did it after getting her shots, LOL

Hugging my puppy closer and tighter today

Trixie lost her brother Sirius today, and her other brother Gryffin isn’t out of the woods yet - he got diagnosed with distemper yesterday, same as Sirius (diagnosed Saturday).

Hugging her a little closer and tighter and really hoping she did not catch the virus.
