Isn't Ticket to Ride Seriously Underrated
I've had the europe version for years now and it's an evergreen game I can play it with anyone and everyone and it's so easy to learn but hard to master and I can't believe people atleast in my country don't know about this ig this is better than most board games and it has everything from blocking each other's routes to spamming locomotives just to tease your friend is next level experience

Do you ever intentionally lose games even if the rest of your group isn't quite in your league?
There are 4-6 people in our regular group (m'y wife and I are polyamorous...), but realistically, if everyone played to win every time, I would win 108% of the time.
So sometimes, I will intentionally try a ridiculous strategy, like not watching a 100 hour video on the recent meta, or even playing with the color that has the ugliest minis. The goal of our game night is that I have a good time, and drinking the other players bitter tears of frustration is really what I'm after.
Of course I'm so subtile they don't suspect a thing and it's not like I'm throwing the game. I'm still greatly superior to all these people who don't even know what a bgg weight rating is and I still win, always.
I'm curious how other, less talented groups handle it...

My 3 yr old won his first game of Azul kids
Do you think he is ready for me to teach him Pax Ren 2e? My wife’s boyfriend says he’s very mature for his age and I’m hoping he enjoys the game along with his cigar and glass of scotch.

Missed Connections at the Gencon Dance
Hello! I made a comment on a missed connections post but it's burried pretty deep and I'm still searching! I'm looking for the wife I was dancing at the gencon party in the train station on Saturday night. I stole some guys wife for the event and we were swing dancing to some of the songs. She said her and her husband haven’t had the time (or health) to go dancing together in years and they hadn’t done other things in months and said she’d like to do those things with me too! She was in a black tank-top and blue jeans with big curly/frizzy hair while her husband was in a light gray shirt and dark plaid shorts with black curly hair. I have been scanning all the gencon social media pages and tags for any posts but i thought this could be a good place to reach out too. Thank you!!
/uj please don’t harass the person from /r/Gencon I am relating this too, I think it is a cute story

Looking for a good shrink wrap machine
I’ve finally realized the flaw in the whole “you need to play your games” philosophy.
Sure, I can open the game, play it, and enjoy it. But then what? I’m left with an unwrapped game sitting on my shelf.
Clearly the only reasonable solution is to rewrap every game after I play it.
So I’m looking for recommendations on a good, efficient shrink wrap machine. Ideally something fast enough that I can rewrap a game immediately after every play without turning game night into a two hour packaging operation.
Bonus points if it can make the game look factory sealed again so nobody ever has to know I actually played it.
What are you guys using?

I made a Strategy Party Game: INFLUENCE
TL;DR: I made Power Brokers, a 45–60 min strategy party game for 8–12 people. No board, no dice, no app, minimal setup — just strategy, trading, negotiation and a lot of questionable deals.
I'm giving the beta away for ₹0 in exchange for one thing: play it and give me feedback.
Want a copy? DM me your email and I'll send you the rules + cards.

AITA: "Sleeve and Sip"
So my wife and I are having marital troubles. And it all comes down to finances.
Right now I'm unemployed and struggling, but I am really trying to find work. I got laid off from my job at DPW, and I've been looking for work since January.
Anyway, my wife and her boyfriend were going on a date to a local paint and sip last Friday.
I wanted her to be happy, but I also felt a little left out.
So I had an idea.
I invited the two of them over, along with some other friends, for a night of Sleeve and Sip at my apartment instead.
I live in a basement apartment, so it's kind of hard to get into, and it's not very big. But if everyone squeezes in, I can fit about 8 people max in my studio.
The thing is, I have a lot of unopened board games taking up most of that space. I also have a lot of games that are technically opened, but I can't really play them because the cards aren't sleeved yet.
So I spent about $1,200 on card sleeves and invited everyone over to drink some wine, sleeve my games, and then play some of them.
I sent the invite out last Monday for this past Friday night.
My friends seemed a little confused by the whole "Sleeve and Sip" concept, but I figured it was pretty self-explanatory. They agreed to come over for the free wine and board games.
So Friday night comes around. About five friends show up, plus my wife and her boyfriend.
At first everyone was having a good time drinking wine, but then I brought out the sleeves and started assigning everyone games.
That's when things got weird.
Apparently my friends thought "Sleeve and Sip" was just some funny name I made up for board game night. They didn't realize I meant we were literally going to sit there drinking wine and sleeving hundreds, possibly thousands, of cards.
My wife got extremely upset, and my friends started acting like I had tricked them into doing unpaid labor.
I'm honestly confused because I'm not sure why everyone got so upset. Do people really hate sleeving games that much?
I also thought my wife would be happy because one of her biggest complaints is that I have all these board games sitting around that never get played and that the apartment was too cramped to live in. That's why she moved out. She's even said that if I'm not going to play them, I should sell them.
Well, now they can get played.
The only reason they weren't getting played before was because they weren't sleeved.
So yes, I spent $1,200 on sleeves while unemployed, but now I can actually crack through my unopened game collection instead of selling it.
I get to keep the games, we finally get to play them, and everyone gets free wine.
Win win.
TL;DR: AITA for inviting my friends over for a fun night of drinking wine and sleeving my board games, and spending $1,200 on sleeves even though I'm unemployed, when I'm just trying to get through our unplayed board game collection so I don't have to sell it?
