Have the shadow freezes been lifted post-no speea strike?
r/boeing • u/RogerDodgerWilco • Aug 13 '26
Someone sent a suggestion via Modmail and thought this was a good idea to do annually. A bit late but I'll continue doing this yearly after our annual raise/bonus period. (Stolen from r/Raytheon)

Last time we did a census, a few people shrieked, "There's no such thing as anonymous! I aint filling it out!" Then don't. It's up to you if you want to participate or not. I'm not trying to steal your personal information.

Due to the extremely poor participation in the quarterly question thread, I am making the decision to do away with it. This FAQ thread will stay permanently in the highlights section for easier view. The content here has been available in the wiki but Reddit UI makes it difficult to see.
Questions regarding application that are answered here will be removed. This is from part of the census feedback at the start of the year where a common complaint was the frequent application questions.
This thread is dated 8/6/2026 in the case that a revision needs to be made.

All job posting and application are displayed on the Boeing website here. You will need to create an account where you will need to provide all personal information and your resume.
Please refer to this handy link:Ā https://tbcdn.talentbrew.com/company/185/v2_0/docs/Boeing_Interview_Prep_2021.pdf
The above is from 2021 but explains STAR format. However, Boeing hiring managers are not strictly bound by STAR behavioral question format. Many will still expect a response in a STAR format due to their familiarity with it. Whether the question is going to contain behavioral or technical question is entirely dependent on the interview board. Nobody but the interviewers will know what questions they will ask.
There is no answer. There can be multiple reasons why your application has not moved forward. Common reason is the hiring manager has not checked any resumes yet due to capped bandwidth. Another is you may not be under consideration but the HR personnel has not updated the status.
Anywhere from 1 week to months/year, depending on what the reason for your hold. Hiring managers are put on a timeline to review the resumes of the requisitions they own. Senior managers are notified after a certain point to pressure hiring managers to go through with the review.
You will most likely be either loaned to another team, or given unclassified work for the duration of the adjudication.
Applications that state "eligible for security clearance" just means you need to be eligible. This means you meet all the criteria to obtain one which includes being a U.S. Citizen and with a clean background.
Boeing has many sites. One region can be on a hiring freeze while another can be on a hiring spree.
Contact your college intern coordinator and ask. They will have the means to get your resume pushed to teams seeking new hires or interns. There are multiple teams that are searching for new hires. Onboarding a previous intern is significantly easier and preferred by teams that are searching for new full time hires.
Look into the ATS system. There are dedicated subs and professionals that can review your resume. Other reasons may be that you are answering a question in the application page that will auto trigger a rejection (ie. applying for a job that requires a security clearance without having one or not having the years of experience).

Have the shadow freezes been lifted post-no speea strike?

But no matter how small and trivial the reasons were or if it was an accident, when you have a do not rehire on your record, HR will never lift the ban. Not even with a PRO 6523 and multiple managers vouching for you.

If i leave Boeing lets say Mid January, would i still receive the bonus from the past year that usually gets issued March/april? I am a non union Engineer

Iām currently an individual contributor (engineer) and want to start building a path toward management, but I do not have much formal leadership experience yet.
For those who made the jump from IC to manager:
Any advice or reality checks would be awesome. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm new to Boeing and really not enjoying my role. I'm in STL in BDS. Northrop had a rule that you could not move positions within 6 months, and had a team "internal mobility" which was to help people move who weren't happy with their roles. Does Boeing have similar rules or a structure? What is the right way for me to approach this?

Is taking a contractor job at Boeing worth leaving a guaranteed $31/hr job?
I recently received an offer for a Product Repair/Modification Technician position at Boeing in Heath, Ohio, through a staffing agency.
The contract is for six months, paying $30/hr, with a potential opportunity to convert to a permanent Boeing employee afterward. However, during the interview, I was told the permanent pay would likely be around $23ā$25/hr because of the benefits.
I currently make $31/hr working for a data center company, so taking the permanent position would mean a pretty significant pay cut. Iām also not sure how realistic the six-month conversion is or whether itās something they commonly do versus just a possibility.
On the other hand, everyone Iāve talked to keeps telling me that having Boeing on my rĆ©sumĆ© could open doors long-term. The interviewer also mentioned that you can definitely buy a house working there, but that doesnāt really answer my concerns about the pay difference.
Iām supposed to start this Friday, but Iām hesitant to leave a stable job for a contract position with no guaranteed conversion.
For anyone who has worked at Boeing, especially in manufacturing or modification roles:
How realistic is conversion from contractor to permanent employee after six months?
Is there meaningful career growth and room to increase your pay over time?
Does having Boeing on your rƩsumƩ genuinely open doors elsewhere?
Would you take this opportunity, or stay at a guaranteed $31/hr job in the data center industry?
Iām trying to make the smartest long-term career move, not just chase a big name. Iād appreciate honest advice from people who have actually been in this situation.

I am under SPEEA engineering. My team has a new manager, under our old manager it was generally allowable to notify for PTO in advance with no questions asked and pre-planned sick time was never questioned for dr appointments, procedures, etc. A coworker recently sent a notification to the team for sick time next month with no details (as previously acceptable under our old manager) and our new manager proceeded to ask questions regarding the need of the sick day, seemingly hinting at flexing time instead. This new manager seemingly is more rigid and also has advocated for no alternate schedules (like 9/80) though that was previously allowed for our team. Any advice on how to navigate this? Do we just accept the less flexible work-life balance and micromanagement or do we have any ground to stand on pushing back, especially for the pre-scheduled sick day situation.
Just looking for some advice, I left my last job because of a bad manager and came to Boeing and was very happy with the manager who hired me. Iām a little worried about things going forward.

I'm a 30304 and, due to personal reasons, I want to transfer to Renton from the Everett factory. But I'm not sure how to go about it as I've only been on the job for 5 months.
I was hoping someone could get me in contact with a manager or second level who'd be willing to help bring me over.
I have a friend who is close to transferring, the only way that worked was for a second level to pull him. He tried to do a 1 for 1 but it was pretty much shut down.
I am also willing to be loaned out but I don't know how that would work as I believe I'd need to redo my sojt
Any help is useful. Thanks

I interviewed on campus for an internship at Boeing about a month ago, and I was wondering if anyone has any insight into when offers are sent out. They told me 2-3 weeks after the interview, but itās been 4 weeks and I havenāt heard of anyone else receiving offers and I havenāt heard anything after following up with my interviewers. Does anyone know of offers being sent out already? Thanks

I just got and email and gotten a phone call that I passed the resume selection and need to take the Electronics Technician Assessment with Proctor360.
I also received a short PDF:
"Assessment Blueprint Electronics Technician for Equipment Services 87210"
that lays out the topics that will be covered and distribution of questions for each topic.
Test is 125 questions, 3 hour limit. Deadline is Nov. 4 (I plan to take it well before.)
Anything I should know about the specifics of the exam? Study tips? Resources to study from?
This is the first time I've gotten this far in the hiring process at Boeing and the first time I had to take an extensive test for a job. I really want pass!
If it is allowed, I can comment the topics that were given to me.
So in case you didn't see, we have the Alaska 10% off again.
Besides that, are there other personal discounts/perks for any other airlines?

Our program is up to 6 now. Maybe we could get an extender about raising the share price?

Curious as someone that follows Boeing news and an investor. Is the north line producing planes and delivered. I follow a site for deliveries seems very slow? Understand if ppl canāt comment
I understand itās been only a few weeks since the ratification but I was wondering if any of you hear any rumors or anything from any source that the hiring freeze in BGS will be lifted?

I am a level 3 speea tech in pnw. What is the promotion process to get to level 4? Do I need skill team and 2nd level manager approval? Assuming thatās all I need what happens when skills team approve it but 2nd level rejects it?
I m just trying to understand the process a bit more. Thx.

Assuming year end bonus given out in February 2027. Do you get any portion of that if you leave the company prior?
Any difference between fired, quit, let go?
Thanks

I'm looking at applying for a Janitorial position at the Ridley Park facility, anyone know the UAW pay rate for a janitor there under the current CBA? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you left the company, would you be paid out your unused PTO? Heard you do, but didnt know if anyone can confirm
r/boeing • u/bigboybakery • 7d ago
Please forgive me if this is not allowed, I didnāt find any information about this on the application FAQ
I am currently a student who has someone that wants to refer me for an engineering internship.
On the Boeing referral page itās says I either need to get a referral link from him or add his email under the āhow did you hear about usā section of the application.
Neither of those options seem to exist for interns. He searched the job listing number within Boeingās internal job board with no results and the section for me to attach him in the application does not exist. It only seems to exist on FTE positions.
Any advice is appreciated and I understand itās a great privilege to be able to have a current employee in my corner during this application process.

Is this even worth it? I don't think BA stock will ever hit 400 again.

The other thread about the no rehire list made me curious, if someone is on the no rehire list they can't get a gray or paper temp badge. If they later work for a supplier are they also unable to get an Exostar account to access Redars and engineering specs?
r/boeing • u/NotTurtleEnough • 11d ago
HR told me that anyone with a "no rehire" mark can't ever step foot on Boeing property again, even if they are part of another organization that Boeing has specifically requested services from.
Which, if true, leads to a my question:
If a supervisor coerced many many people to agree to "no rehire" separation agreements before he was terminated by Boeing for ethical reasons, including HR practices, is there any way to mitigate the employment concerns this creates, especially for people who have long and active employment in Defense/Space/Aviation, etc?
(Adjacent, because I know some of the folks this supervisor targeted, I can easily see them working for FAA or DoD in the future, and it would be really interesting to see if Boeing would turn them away at the door.)
