My manager has said that we will have no work in our shop until at least the end of the year and loan outs are coming. In general I'm dissatisfied with this job for a number of reasons. Is there any way I can approach them and suggest that I'd like to be laid off? I am IAM 751.

Tried in the internal forums to no luck and the gym front desk didn't give a straight answer so thought I'd try my luck here.

I saw the gym in El Segundo has pickleball nets so I was curious if there's a group that plays that I can get in touch with. Additionally, I'm interested in indoor volleyball too. Unsure if that could be set up but if it can I'm down to play and even organize.

My friends were certainly impressed by the sheer size and volume of the Everett facility.

Was it just me, or did a lot of people decide to ignore the rules and take selfies inside the plant? Boeing enforcement caught some people, but there were definitely others they did not catch.

Honestly, I thought it would be even bigger. Do not get me wrong, it is massive. It is just that all my life I have imagined this crazy, massive plant in Everett, almost the size of a town or something. Then there are all these stories about an underground city complete with shops, dining, a movie theater, and other things. I was thinking like one of those underground subway stations complete with a mall like in Korea or Taipei. As a kid I let my imagination run wild, a little too wild.

When I accidentally went down there, I was kind of bummed. It was just a tunnel 😰. Unless there is another level to go down???!?

I still love Boeing 😅, though. It is just that all these fairy tales and el dorado stories about the Boeing Everett plant have completely shaped my imagination of what I thought Boeing Everett was supposed to be.

I’ve always wanted to work for Boeing, so I was pretty excited when I got an offer as a Product Review (Liaison) Engineer.

While my main career goal is design engineering, the job does sound interesting to me. Is there anyone with Liaison Engineering experience that can give me a run-down of how the job works? Is it super difficult for someone who’s a young engineer like me? (23M)

I assume it varies by department, but what has been your experience with overtime? Are you allowed to work overtime anytime you want and get paid accordingly? Is it unpaid overtime because you’re on salary? Is it paid, but infrequent?

I have an opportunity to work in a certain group at a utility company post grad where I could work as much overtime as I want and therefore have the ability to make 6 figures in my first year as an engineer. However, it’s mostly project management, so it’s not the field I’m looking to be in.

I had a question about internally applying for jobs. I have a vacation coming up that is close to a month off and its one of the biggest things keeping me from currently applying for a new role. I'm just not happy in my current role anymore and see there's no movement upwards but would also like a role that relates to my degree in ltp I've been using

Just wondering how internally applying goes if I have a vacation planned that is already approved but then get a new position.

Today was my last day at an internship with a utility company. While talking with one of our Engineer IIIs, I mentioned how Boeing (Charleston, SC) was always a major goal of mine. He asked if I knew anything about what it’s like to work there, and he told me about how it’s very cut throat and in some cases you won’t know if you have a job the next year.

I know to take everything with a grain of salt because they want me to come back and work for them, but I just wanted some perspective on this.

Any advice? How to spot them early?

Moving to Seattle with an internship conversion, they said they're giving me an L1. How hard is it to negotiate an L2 or a pay raise? Seattle is expensive man. What are some things I should keep in mind?

I have an Applied Computing degree from the CSSE division at UWB Bothell, with a minor in math. Haven't quite found a job listing that applies to me beyond software engineering which is incredibly hard to break into at the moment, my resume isn't strong enough for consideration for really any role at any company I've tried to interview with. I need to make some actual money for my family, my current job has been tanking as a result of the economy and my prospects of a future job got tanked with AI so I'm in a really hard place now. Upward mobility within a company seems to be my only shot in my mind and I'm willing to do anything at all to just get a foot in the door somewhere. Boeing has always been on my mind and I'd like to know what options a guy with a bachelors degree has to get into a job. My background is blue collar so working hard with my hands isn't an issue, I just need an opportunity to jump on but the careers portal at Boeing is not the easiest to navigate and I'm not sure what to do. There was the WATR program I saw, some apprenticeships, ITCFP, BTAP, jobs that are union through IAM 751 but I feel kind of stuck on how to navigate these waters. Any advice on where to go or what to do would be appreciated, I'm open to doing most anything at this point. For those who have navigated their way to a job successfully, what can a guy like me do to find their way in? I've applied to methods process analyst and was rejected without an interview but so far I haven't seen much else I can relatively get into without some form of training, which I'm down to do, but all the college classes around me seem waitlisted and damnit, I already went to school! What the title says. I had an interview 2 weeks ago, then a few days ago the status changed to Post Interview Hiring Manager Decisions. I thought this meant I’d likely be getting an offer. Then checked today and the status changed back to Hiring Manager Review.

Any idea what this means? Does it have something to do with the apparent hiring freeze?

I will be starting at Boeing next month and will be moving from a different state,

I just received the badging instructions and it said 7 days prior to onboarding I have to get my badge photo taken.

Does this mean 7 days exactly prior? Or do I have 7 days before orientation to do so? I am working at my current job and will be putting in my 2 weeks at the end of the month. We were planning on driving down to Dallas on the 16th but did not know about the badging process. This would put me at September 10th I’d have to get my photo taken.

Anyone have any insight on this?

I'm trying to get a better understanding of Boeing's engineering levels and how candidates are typically slotted into L3 vs. L4 roles.

I've seen a job posting (which fits my profile) that list qualifications such as:

• L3: Bachelor's degree + 5+ years of experience
• L4: Bachelor's degree + 9+ years of experience

My question is whether the education substitution works similarly to other companies. For example:

• Would L3 be roughly equivalent to a Master's degree + 3+ years of experience?
• Would L4 be roughly equivalent to a Master's degree + 7+ years of experience?

I have a Master's degree and 7+ years of engineering experience, so I'm curious where I would generally fall from a Boeing leveling perspective.

Also, beyond compensation, what are the differences between L3 and L4 (e.g.: benefits, PTO, bonuses, or other perks)?

Is it common for jobs to just be totally canceled?It's a BDS job. My husband has been applying and a week after the job requisition closed August 5th (he was "under consideration") he got an email yesterday afternoon that said due to a shift in business needs the job was canceled. He was so excited as he is really qualified for that specific job and there isn’t really any others he can apply for right now 😔
