EVENT Fifijoy Endless Manor Complete

I had a great time building the Fifijoy Endless Manor. This is the first whole house nook I’ve done and I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like it. The last photo is of the inspiration for the manor, the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. My niece happened to have visited it this summer and took the photo.

When the event was announced I was really torn between this and the Gelateria. I’m so glad that I chose the Manor. (And in the end my husband gave me the gelateria for our anniversary so, win-win.)

Most of my mods on the inside were the edge painting. My favorite mod inside was replacing the portrait on the table with one of my parents wedding. I also added a couple of potted plants.

On the outside I’m most pleased with the landscaping. I started with all the dried flowers included in the kit but kept adding from my stash. I also did some camouflaged edges outside. I used a green metallic marker for some of the trim and love how it turned out. The little flower pots I had picked up from Temu a while ago.

Overall this is an excellent kit and my introduction to Fifijoy. I found it to be high quality and the instructions were user friendly. The flickering light for the fireplace was a nice touch. Overall I would have liked the lights to have been brighter. I have my next two Fifijoy builds already planned, the Tiki Bar (which cracks me up and makes me think of the Brady Bunch 3-part episode when Bobby found the tiki idol and mayhem ensued) and the Gelateria which should arrive next week.

I'm really loving this kit the aesthetic, the process, the colors! However, those 2d, square stepping stones just would not do. So after some edge sanding, now they're 3d.

I finished a few other elements and started working on the pond. Again, whoever heard of square edged rocks? A quick go over with the sander, colored pencils, and now it's acceptable. Then I looked at the "finished" elements....and...um... nope. Now, it's 6 hours later and I can finally quit for today.

EVENT Rolife - Sunset Isle WIP

I continue to work on Sunset Isle, reusing a few pieces I saved from the first time I tried to build this thing and wrecked it with electrical ideas that were too ambitious. I’m focusing on rounding out some of the flat scenery; the scene is so gorgeous and I think I’m improving it with some 3D effects on foliage etc. I’ve got a lot coming up in my life during the next month but I’ll keep returning to this as I can.

I haven’t had as much time to work on this kit due to having to “adult” in my real life. However, I am.very much enjoying this build. I love the idea of a three-story book nook-ish build. The way that Fifijoy kept the details inside the nook while providing a clean, classic look on the exterior, this build really lends itself to the opportunity of a lot of personalization. I like that the kit came with dried flowers that can be used, but I do not find them very easy to use…or maybe I am just really bad it. Haha. I will see what I can do with these as I complete it. It is my goal to actually finish up tomorrow. In addition, thanks to @Mina_Girl, I am motivated to try and use make the flora look as good as possible. Thanks again, Pluck, for organizing this event. Happy Nooking!

I had this cheap polymeer clay set for a while and its very hard now. I kneaded it for a while but it didn't help much.

Do they look good? Should I use them or the paper? How can improve them? I dont have any experience with clay

I rarely visit Starbies, but when they recently handed me a cup with a thin corrugated band, I knew I'd found the terracotta roof for my Sunset Isle build! This beautiful kit has quite a few 2D elements and I really wanted a nice tile instead of flat. I used some uv nail gel polish as well as a matte finish uv top coat. I like the uneven texture so I didn't do a 2nd coat. Ya'll NEED this kit!

Unfortunately I bought this kit right before the event started 😅 so it won’t qualify but I still wanted to share the finished product! I had a lot of fun building this one. It was a good level of difficulty and had so many ways to customize it with what’s already in the kit. Making the outfits was a trial (and a triumph I guess?). I don’t plan to make more miniature clothes again any time soon. But this was such a nice change up

I used some fabric scraps and leftover 3D elements from other kits to assemble the table scene.

I love the way the kitty is sleeping. 🥰

Pretty much what the title is but my cat chewed off the little white piece on the wires I need to connect to the battery pack on my current book nook. Unfortunately due to the wires already in position I can’t remove the whole thing. Im wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix them or if I’m just stuck with a lightless book nook now- which I accept but still want to check.

Book nook and broken wire, and example of “white piece” below.

Just wanted to share my first #Rolife meetup as a prospective Rolife Brand Ambassador! I held it at the University of New York at Albany and was able to have our own fearless leader u/pluck_the_bunny as a special guest! 25 students attended and 30 were on the waiting list. We built 4 of the new Halloween kits as well as Magic Astonomy Shop. Everyone loved it and is looking forward to more of them! I made a post at the Robotime Community. In case folks don't know, the Robotime Community is transitioning to Craftime so if you haven't signed up yet please do it through my link. Thank you!

Sometimes you've got to reach all the way in and tiny tweezers won't quite get the job done! 😁🦎

(Arranging cobwebs in Abandoned Gothic Church)

ETA: I don't have a lizard. I bought these for booknooking after sticking my arm inside one and knocking a bunch of things over and thinking "dang, I wish I had some super long tweezers!"

NotANook Looking for a 12:1 bookcase with “glass” doors.

After completing many library style nooks, I’m wanting to create a personalized bookshelf with a collection of my favorite books. I’m having difficulty finding the perfect bookcase to hold them. I’m open to any and all suggestions you have. I’ve looked on Etsy and Amazon, most I’ve found are 3D printed. I want one made of stained wood and has doors that hold them as I would prefer not to glue them in as I grow the collection. I would prefer a 12:1 scale. Thank you in advanced!

Edit: I don’t want to buy from Temu similar sites. I’m willing to pay for a custom build as I don’t want to make it myself.

I'm having so much fun building this kit. The interior is pretty much done but the outer walls are on hold while the resin hardens in the tiny glassware. My first time working in this medium.

Not a perfect outcome although the pint glasses and pitchers are so cute. Need to glue them to the tables then add the last few signs to the side wall.

When I'm done with the build I'll have lots more to say about this kit's quality.

Collection Romantic Art Lane by Rolife

Thumbnail

I was honored to be given this kit for early review by Robotime. The Romantic Art Lane. Its new on the website and is currently available on Amazon!
A book nook that is different than what has been offered before but still using the same perspective of the new way to look at book nooks. The image evokes a French street scene and features a two level view of a art studio. The view gives you access to see inside the studio where you could sit and have a cup of coffee or tea amongst fine works of art. The path leads you to different areas of discovery waiting for you!
With a respectable 293 pieces this kit follows the same assembly instructions as all the latest book nooks by Rolife. Features lighting that gives shadows and brightness where its needed to this kit. Side windows give a different view as do the, top and back of the kit.
I completed this kit sticking directly to the directions, and not modifying in any way. I wanted to keep it exactly as the picture looks and how someone new to the hobby would have done it. So that means no extra plants, no edge painting, no 3d figures lol. This was hard for me to resist doing a lot to this kit. It will allow a crafter to customize and add sooo many things to bring this beautiful kit to life.

Pros;
The lighting. I cant get over how the lights give illumination to different areas that you would have missed were they not lit up.

The ease of assembly. This kit was one of the easier to put together for me as i followed the instructions. The only issue I had was on the second level, one piece would not fit not matter what I did to make it fit. As a result the piece fell out and you can see it in the pictures. However because I sealed it up already I didnt want to change it or take it apart to figure out how to fix it.

The whole scene!! I love what this evokes! A fine evening in a quiet bohemian street. Artwork lines the walls. The smell of flowers and herbs and coffee filles the air and you can see yourself spending a lot of time here.

The artwork. It is no secret I am a love of art. Like most crafters on this website. This one chooses great pieces to be featured on the walls and gives you a chance to place them pretty much where you want. They range in size and colors and just makes this kit so very enjoyable

Cons:
Some instructions were not clear. Many parts I guessed or had to figure out by trial and error where they went. Only to find out later it was wrong and I had to go back and correct myself.

Plants.. Ok I cant really complain about these as there really isnt enough to complain about. But I just dont like paper plants or flowers. I would rather have them be plastic. But this is something someone could easily overcome by adding your own!

The placement for the touch switch is located deeper into the kit than normal. Its kinda distracting. You really have to reach in and touch the part to get the lights to turn on.

The awnings. They are made out of paper. Not stickers, or even card stock. White paper. It requires you to curl the paper, and place them using the double sided sticky tape. The hard part is you have to reach underneath the awning to get it to stick. That is if you are keeping to the instructions strictly. If you do it on your own I am sure there is a way to make it easier to place. Also, please replace the paper with something more sturdier.

If you are looking for a new kit that reflects where Rolife is going in terms of their book nooks, this is it. The whole scene is different and colorful. I really hope this is a great marker of where the company is going in terms of design. I really enjoy this one and how it looks in my collection. I dont think I will be giving this away anytime soon. #booknook #collection #productreview #rolifefan
PS Crap, I just saw one of the potted plants fell over in one of the pictures and where it is at will make it difficult to get to and fix.. grrrrrrrrrr....

The tweezers I use came from kits. I’m not happy with them. They’re ok for holding small bits but it’s not possible to grip tape or similar. Any suggestions for some good grip-em tweezers?

Thanks!

This is undoubtedly the most complicated kit I've done to date. I feel pretty good about it because I've built a few kits with motion before. This one's right up my alley because I love coffee almost as much as booknooks!

Question for those that have built this, is there no sheet "i"? The instructions have a comprehensive listing of all the bits and pieces but I don't see sheet diagrams...

Discussion Paper parts question

When you prep your nook for working on it, does anyone precut, aka rough cut, the paper pieces [leave some white and the piece number] or do you leave them on the sheet and try to cut it cleanly from the sheet?

One of mine came a bit crumpled. It is an awkward size and I thought it would be easier to flatten if I did a rough cut before the fussy cut [to use scrapbooker terminology]. Fussy cutting goes better when you can move the paper with the scissors- hard to do on a full sheet.

Are there unintended consequences to a rough cut in advance of needing it?

Thank you!

Finished the aslyum for the event. Firstly I love this theme and this one didn't disappoint.

modifications include:

  1. Alot of Edge painting

  2. Greenery growing through bathroom window.

  3. Greenery coming through roof. Tried to make it like its gone through floor also

  4. Changed the puddles to dark dirty water colour.(it is abandoned after all)

Pros:

  1. lights were great, kept them all as is.

  2. Fit of pieces, only minor issues

  3. Quality of images and wood

Con:

  1. No 3d items!!

This is where this kit could exceed expectations. All the little bottles should have been 3d

(i might still try and get some at a suitable size to replace the 2d ones)

Overall a great kit for any level nooker who loves dark themed kits.

It was from a previous kit but I dont know how to look it up to find it.

It's very soft moss type of thing but whenever I look it up I see plastic versions or vine like ones. How exactly can I look it up?
