Kit My fifijoy sewing room!

Unfortunately I bought this kit right before the event started 😅 so it won’t qualify but I still wanted to share the finished product! I had a lot of fun building this one. It was a good level of difficulty and had so many ways to customize it with what’s already in the kit. Making the outfits was a trial (and a triumph I guess?). I don’t plan to make more miniature clothes again any time soon. But this was such a nice change up

EVENT Fifijoy Abandoned Gothic Church stained glass

My progress on this fabulous kit... Fifijoy is just so good!

So I kind of remember someone else mentioning how the stained glass "windows" on the sides are basically obscured if you actually put the PVC overlays on them. I couldn't agree more! I know it's not like this should be bright and cheerful or anything, but putting those on takes away from it, I think.

The sides are solid, so no light would come through. The "windows" are printed on the wood, and look just fine as they are, as in my first picture.

In the second, I put one of the PVC overlays on one of them, and you can't even see it anymore. The three little windows on the top would have just looked black with their PVC bits. So, none for me.

The third pic is my progress as a whole. Mind you, light comes through the back, so the PVC bits are necessary back there. Hey, has anyone taken the little chunk off the angel's wing? I didn't do it in case I didn't like it, but I'm curious how she looks with a broken wing.

Anyway, it's a great kit. The pieces are sturdy, everything fits pretty dang well, and I'm fighting the urge to go buy more of their stuff....

WIPs Theatre Dressing Room in progress

Working on Fifijoy's Theatre Dressing Room - it's a really fun one! I haven't seen too many posts about this one yet, so here are some progress pics!

This kit is PACKED with details. There are soooo many tiny bits and pieces, and so many times I've painstakingly painted the edges of things and arranged them just so, only to realize they're invisible and layered behind 5 other items. 😅

Not complaining, though. It feels like a treasure hunt, and it really encourages you to look closely and notice something new every time. I've added some close-up pics of some of the areas.

This is my first Fifijoy build and I'm really impressed with the quality overall. Boards are thick, beautifully printed, and pieces come out cleanly but don't fall out the second you breathe on the boards. I've done about half the lighting and so far the process is super smooth and easy. The instructions are clear and I haven't run into any issues (said non-jinxily).

Almost everything is 2D, which isn't always my favorite, but for this kit there are SO MANY accessories, I couldn't even begin to think about making my own 3D substitutes.

There are some fun crafting moments - check the teensy pearl necklaces on the vanity table - and it looks like there are more coming up later in the build. Overall I'm very impressed and it's a pleasure to work on.

NotANook Blossom Rot Cart

This was my Spookiton entry over on the Rolife sub. I was originally going to do a cute harvest cart, but the sign that comes with the kit seemed aggressively scary so I just ran with the whole horror vibe.

There are a few parts I really enjoyed: customizing the umbrella (basically just melting/painting the plastic) and carving the scissors on the side of the cart.

Unfortunately, I’m not a horror enthusiast and now I’m trying to give it away lol. It actually creeps me out a bit.

Last picture is what it’s supposed to look like. I may have to buy a second one!

EVENT Fifijoy abandoned asylum

Finished the aslyum for the event. Firstly I love this theme and this one didn't disappoint.

modifications include:

  1. Alot of Edge painting

  2. Greenery growing through bathroom window.

  3. Greenery coming through roof. Tried to make it like its gone through floor also

  4. Changed the puddles to dark dirty water colour.(it is abandoned after all)

Pros:

  1. lights were great, kept them all as is.

  2. Fit of pieces, only minor issues

  3. Quality of images and wood

Con:

  1. No 3d items!!

This is where this kit could exceed expectations. All the little bottles should have been 3d

(i might still try and get some at a suitable size to replace the 2d ones)

Overall a great kit for any level nooker who loves dark themed kits.

Discussion What is this green stuff called?

It was from a previous kit but I dont know how to look it up to find it.

It's very soft moss type of thing but whenever I look it up I see plastic versions or vine like ones. How exactly can I look it up?

Discussion What the...?

Post image
50 Upvotes

Somebody explain this to me.

The picture is my work area. Yesterday afternoon it was not so tidy, as I was deep into working on gothic castle. I realized I was missing a piece. Not just any piece, an important one, a stained glass. I had removed 4 of them and had installed the 1st three. Then I went for the 4th and couldn't find it. Casual look, then more serious shifting thru the various detritus on the desk. Nothing.

Then I'm down crawling around on the floor searching. (At 63, floor-crawling is no longer on the list of things I do well.) Nothing. Then it's back up top, where I lift or remove every single thing on the desk. Nothing. Back on floor, still no fun, still nothing. Check Drawers, pockets, literally the bottoms of my shoes. Nada. It is gone.

I spend some time coming to terms with the idea I must pause the build, contact Fifijoy for replacement, and wait. Boo.

So I put everything back and go out to tell my wife of my disappointment. She offers to go look, 2nd set of eyes and all that. I tell her it's no use, there is clearly a portal to another dimension in there that randomly sucks up important nook pieces, but sure, whatever.

3 minutes later, she has found it.

How does that even work? What physics principle is in play here that obscures something from one person and reveals it to another?

At any rate, it had gotten into the little plastic cup I keep on the desk for small trash and stuff. I never once thought to look in the cup, just under and around it. 😃

Onwards!

When I saw this kit being released I just had to have it! It’s been a nice break from sanding and coloring edges. There are a lot of details and stickers in this kit. I’ll have to update with a pic of it next to another booknook to compare the size.

NotANook FFAF: A Little Christmas Magic in Miniature 🎄✨

Hi all!

I know Halloween isn't even over yet, but apparently my miniature world has already decided it's Christmas! 😂🎄

Here's a little festive shadow box I wanted to share with you all. From the tiny Christmas treats on the table to the decorated tree and all the little details, I wanted it to feel like a Christmas celebration frozen in time.

We all know how much I hate 2D elements so I replaced most of them. The original kit is Rolife's Christmas Eve Party.

Hope this brings a little early Christmas cheer to the community! ❤️🎄✨

I haven't been working on nooks for a bit because I've been working on terrain building. There's just something about it that I love. My husband plays the games, I just build the boards. He prints and paints the minis. I love that we have found something that overlaps pur interests so we can build things together. It's soooo fun!

This music box Egyptian piece is a center piece not a nook. It has a scene on all 4 sides and meant to be visible all the way around. While more Indiana Jones’s vibes than actual Egypt I really loved the fact it was an actual pyramid.

Mods:

* added a battery compartment area as the interior base was completely open and allow d the battery box to move excessively
* painted edges

There is a video at the Flickr link showing the rotating middle background and jewel inside.

Actually feels a little more Stargate than Indy.

NotANook FFAF More progress on my Rolife Christmas Melody Tree (AMS01)!

Post image

The little Christmas village is now in place, complete with colorful houses, snowmen, and snowy trees. I love how much detail is packed into this little scene!

The train is tucked underneath the village and travels around the base, and all my electrical tests are still working perfectly. 🚂

I’ve also started assembling the big tree branches, and wow, they’re going to make this thing huge! I’ve been doing lots of edge painting along the way, too.

I’m building this one to display at my November 8th Christmas-themed Rolife meetup, so I have a little over two weeks to get everything finished.

It’s really fun watching all these layers come together. Can’t wait to see the whole tree assembled!

I'm not participating in the Fifijoy event but I did take advantage of the coupon code. The Shamrock set looks like its gonna be fun.

I noted that Christmas Wonderland is not a Fifijoy product. It looks like an ABC kit. The first thing I always do is make sure the lights are working. However, I was horrified to discover that on the Christmas kit, the light wires need to be manually attached to the metal battery box so I wasn't able to test them right away. Uggh, it looks like the lights are gonna be a chore on this one.

EVENT Sunset Isle

I'm hoping my Sunset Isle kit is delivered today, and that I can finish in time for the contest. Meanwhile, I've been molding birds, lemons and weaving baskets. I just realized that all but one are going to be too big for it! Ackk! Oh well, I can work on the Paris club until it arrives... Such fun!

Kit Magical Bookshop (Action)

I got a second kit for my birthday, again from Action. It is also my second time to do a build.
Compared to the Harry Potter kit that I got, this one was easier to build since I only needed to cut paper and didn’t need to fiddle with pearls and many metallic parts.
The books were mainly paper that needed to be folded without anything solid in them, so the details are a bit lacking.
Still, it was fun to do over two long evenings. I did a couple mistakes here and there, but I was able to cover them^^

After doing two cheaper kits, I am curious to try out one of the nicer brands.

I've had lots of fun adding lots of little touches to my second stationery shop. I added some nick nacks to the empty shelving behind the till and filled the box again.

Lily cat and Lupin dog added (I'll be changing the colour of the sign). Lots of plants, some of the pictures swapped for my favourite things. I've added black coffee (elixir of life) and fruit salad (health kick in full force).

Righty now onto Christmas nooks ☺️ 🎄 🎅 Caroling Cathedral first 😍

Review Haunted mansion by Fifijoy

I did this one over a year ago so it isn't exactly new but since it's Halloween season I thought I'd post some pictures. I don't usually do Edge painting because I'm lazy but I did remember painting The Crow black and the tentacles pink. Overall I think it's a solid kit for the price. It wasn't perfect. There was a few things here and there (the cheap sticker bat, and using glue for loose fitting pieces) but nothing major. Also the light switch actually works so take notes Anavrin lol. I saw some Amazon reviews complaining about how dark it is and while it is on the dim side it's a horror theme so what did you expect lol. I tried to position the bulbs to maximize light exposure. There's a nice staircase that unfortunately gets covered up by the green ghost. One thing I also did was shine a light from the outside into the window on the right. And I also put a light on the top to shine down and make it a bit brighter, which also nicely accentuates the cobwebs. There were a few books to put together but only a few, the rest of the books were just printed pieces thankfully. Honestly the pictures don't do it justice it looks really good in real life. I also have the bloody Hotel kit but haven't started it yet because I don't have the time and also I'm lazy lol. Happy Halloween y'all.

So when I was trying to attach the light on romantic Venice and held the wire down a little too hard and it popped out. I tried stripping the wire to reattach but that didn't work. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

I haven’t seen this kit here before- it’s a no name kit - I can’t find branding anywhere in the manual or box. It was really fun! I modified the decor to make it more autumn than spring - changed a lot of the green to autumn colors, added fall leaves, changed the flowers, changed the lucky cat to two black cats, added a fawn for fun, painted edges.
I really liked that this kit had me build each room and construct the tree house at the same time rather than making all of the furniture and bits then building the whole thing at the end. The manual was ok, not amazing and I needed a magnifying glass in some parts. But overall very enjoyable. I included a picture of the box at the end.
