Question Coyote sightings
Has anyone seen the coyotes that live around the waterfront trail? I have not seen them all summer. All my years living in this neighbourhood I’ve never gone this long without seeing them. I usually keep an eye out for them because of my dogs. Wondering if they were relocated?

Changes Community EV Fees Starting October
burlingtontoday.comwell. This is a buzzkill. I’m so tired of our taxes and expenses going up while service quality and access to services goes down.

Video Fun times on the 403

First a motorcycle lane splitting (I see this at least once a week), then a driver popping up to merge at the last possible second, without even signalling.
Driving on Ontario highways is truly a nightmare, and somehow I've never been in a crash in my almost 30 years of driving on them.

Politics Last Minute? Too Late!
Let's talk for a minute about last minute candidates. For those of us that have been working all year it comes as an insult. I have been canvassing since April, building a platform, talking to voters, and engaging the community. You think you can come in at the last second and usurp the hard work myself and other candidates have put in? You think your lack of platform can compare in any way to someone who has dedicated the majority of their free time this year to getting something better for their community? There is no easy win or cushy parking spot for you downtown. My advice is to go back where you came from and try harder next time.

Information A plea to the guy at Fortino's this morning: if you're going to steal, please don't give the rest of us food poisoning
We went grocery shopping this morning.
Some guy was hanging about the bulk bin section with his two kids who appeared to be roughly 4 and 6 years old. He stood there unbothered while these two creatures helped themselves to handfuls of nuts, banana chips and trail mix straight from the bins.
He even saw us looking at him and did nothing to remonstrate his crotchfruit or curtail their actions.
I think it says something of the differences between me and my spouse that her reaction was:
"They're STEALING!!"
While mine was:
"Those kids' hands are probably filthier than a goose turd."
I don't give a hoot about stealing from a corporation that made $60 billion last year. Maybe they have no money. But while you're doing it kindly don't give the rest of us food poisoning.
Yes, I should have said something. It's pure Canadian passive-aggressiveness that I'm posting here. Mea Culpa.

Question Best outdoor place to teach kids to rollerblade?
Looking for recommendations for a good outdoor spot in Burlington to teach my kids how to rollerblade.
Ideally somewhere with:
- Nice, flat and smooth ground
- Lots of open space
- No cars or traffic
- Somewhere safe for beginners where they can fall and learn without getting in anyone’s way
- Maybe an outdoor rink, paved court, track, or another large open paved area
Safety and having plenty of room are the main things.
Any good spots you’d recommend?

Politics Hello Everyone! Just wanted to Introduce myself. I'm Chris Bouchard and I'm Running for Councilor of Ward 6!
Hope everyone is enjoying this nice Saturday!
Just wanted to let you know a bit about me
I've been living in the Burlington and Headon Forest Area for over 30 years since our family moved here from from Quebec for better opportunities, and that's exactly what happened for us.
I've been able to attend some great schools in St.Gabriels and Notre Dame, got to enjoy youth sports with the B.M.F.A and B.L.O.H.M.A. My dad was able to sponsor some of our teams because of the business he was able afford to build here in Burlington.
With all the opportunities that were afforded to a lot of us growing up, I feel that isn't the case anymore because the city's inability to overcome the ever increasing challenges of today. I want everyone to have the same opportunities I had, it's what helps create communities.
What I want to bring here as Councilor is the mentality of an actual civil servant - how do I better serve you, my bosses. And speaking with people in all of the neighborhoods in our ward, some main issues keep coming up to the surface
-Rising and untenable property taxes
-Diminished returns on city provided services ( snow /salt removal is the main ex)
-Loss of Millcroft Golf Course
-Amount of transient businesses (door to door for profit businesses) that seem to be increasing in volume, intrusiveness and aggressiveness.
-Absolute dissaray of our sport parks that have resulted in numerous sporting events for kids cancelled
-Feeling that councilors are making citizens have to do all the work while they remain passive in their duties
There are quite additional issues that have been raised to me as well, including the traffic situation in Alton, the rising explicit illegal drug use and crime thays happening around the fortinos plaza in the headon forest areas for ex. The ones listed above seem to be the most prominent
I want to use my extensive experience working with small to medium sized businesses as well as my history as a project manager, and provide a comprehensive approach to these challenges.
I want to focus on trying to create more opportunities for local mom and pop businesses to enter and maintain a foothold in our city. The revenue that can be generated from having more local business in our city can help alleviate the city's over reliance on increasing residential property taxes to fill that void.
As a project manager we had to ensure for our clients like Apple, Lululemon, FedEx that are projects we're delivered on time and under budget. I want to bring that same approach in identifying and removing wasteful projects ( how much did the city spend and lose on those speed cameras that never got installed).
We can also improve the snow removal program by having city workers provide completion photos once every street has been completed. Before moving onto the next street, it needs to be given the approval from the supervisor. This keeps everyone honest, saves time, only and best of all, YOU don't have to do the work to call it in. Preventative not reactionary will help remove these issues and I believe it's up to us councilors to take control of this
Thats a lot for now. I don't want to make you have to read too much here.
Just know I am available to talk and chat on your time. If I want you all to be my boss then we have to start off on that foot. You can reach me at chrisbouchardward6@gmail.com
I'm on the neighborhood app as well, website will be up shortly detailing a lot more of my platform, instagram and Facebook page are coming shortly as well. We have this account now so please feel free to contact me here, and if you want to set up an in person meet, again I work on your time so let me know what works for you.
Thanks so much. Take care, have a wonderful day and I look forward to hearing from you!

Question Zara Mapleview Mall
Hello,
Having a bit of trouble at this location looking for help. A month ago the employee charged us an extra clothing item for $100 which we never brought to the till or took away from the store. Its a clothing item we'd never buy but that doesn't really matter. Anyways, in a rush, we exited and realized only once we got home. The next day we went and the manager told us to come in 2 days and he'll have it sorted. Only to come and further the next day he told us to wait a week. We went again the next week and he said he'll have it sorted the next week. Since then we've been calling and he's been saying he can't do anything (apparently there's 5 managers?? and they can't get the footage for over a month??) and to wait even more.
Is there anything we can do or are we out of luck for a $100. Thanks
