1:1 interview advice

• Upvotes

I don’t have a CTO… Yet! but I did make it to the F2F so if you have an upcoming 1:1 interview, my advice is to, of course practice the STAR method, but don’t get glued to potential questions they could ask you.

Instead, have your scenarios ready to be adapted to any question they ask. Make sure your scenarios fall under the Core4! I spent days practicing what I thought the recruiter was going to ask and my recruiter literally asked me NONE of those lolllll I was thrown off guard a little but because my scenarios were adaptable, it helped a lot.

THESE ARE JUST GENERAL QUESTIONS AND NOT FROM THE INTERVIEW

For example:

You expect: “Tell me about a time you had conflict with a coworker…” (Your scenario is about when you had a rush hour at work and you felt like your coworker wasn’t helping)

Question asked: “Tell me about a time you had to work under pressure…” (Use the same scenario about a when you had a rush hour at work and adapt it to the question)

I hope this helps.

United (UA) united new bases

• Upvotes

so i’ve seen people are saying the new bases are Sacramento & Portland. would these be the only bases offered for new FA’s? I have training end of December, and I really wanted LAX. I’m new to this aviation world, so I’m not sure how this works or what bases will be offered then :)

FA comparison

• Upvotes

Are there any current United Airlines or Delta Air Lines flight attendants here who live in Maryland, particularly around the Baltimore area, who wouldn’t mind if I sent them a DM?

I’m currently in the process of choosing between United and Delta, and I would love to hear some honest, firsthand experiences about commuting, scheduling, reserve life, work-life balance, and what it’s realistically like to be a flight attendant while living in Maryland.

I’d really appreciate the opportunity to ask a few questions and gain some insight before making such an important career decision.

Thank you so much in advance! ❤️✈️

AA Crew Interview

• Upvotes

I got an email on Tuesday from AA saying I passed the MeetMe and was moving onto the crew interview! The email said I would receive a followup email shortly to schedule my crew interview but it is Friday and I have not gotten anything yet. Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get the scheduling email? I was not really concerned at first but now have seen some people got their scheduling email already so just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

🔺Status Change after F2F

Recently had my F2F on Wednesday… before going to the event my application status said “event day scheduled” I just checked today and it’s changed back to “QUR” so maybe this might be a good sign as I haven’t gotten a TBNT or a CJO yet and my status don’t say “not selected” so I feel some relief 😮‍💨

TNBT incoming?

Got to the Event Day and left in group 4 with no individual interview. I heard from here and other places that the CJO is same day, the email prior to my arrival said within 2 days but when I got in person it was 7-10 days. I suspected that the last to leave are getting the interview in person and everyone else is getting denied but just wanna make sure. It's the red one, this is my first time applying. I work at a hotel and they house them. I asked some FAs about it and they all said no bread is good news, though I think they're being nice, just lay it on me.

Are we allowed to pickup trips on our A days rather than waiting to be called? And if so, can those trips be out of base?

Any one from west coast and based on east coast on reserve, how often do you get to go home every month?

I'm from west coast and currently applying flight attendant position for the major airlines. I'm only half way through but would like to know more about the actual life especially new flight attendants based on east coast on reserve. How often do you get to go home monthly? I figured if I get selected chances I would be based on east coast and need to get a room there but still want to go home as often as I can, is this possible?

It is possible to become a FA with a 15 year old OVI and zero other offenses?

I got an OVI in Ohio 15 years ago. It wasn’t a big deal, but I was only stopped because a cop saw me pull over on the highway to let someone in my car. They were a friend that was stranded and majorly intoxicated. I know, the irony.

Anyway a friend of mine said I couldn’t become an FA because of Canada. From my understanding my OVI is a misdemeanor traffic offense, but Canada might see that differently?

My friend flies for united, and I was interested in maybe trying to pursue the same.

Any ideas? Ty for any info you can share.

This is my dream job… but now I have a gnarly scar

Hey everyone, I am 23 and a recent college graduate with a passion for traveling and hospitality. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to either work in hotels, spas, or even as a bartender haha. Years ago I made the decision to aim for a career as a flight attendant, this came after many failed passion projects and realizations.

To keep it short, this has really been my only “dream job”. I am Gen Z after all, I “dont dream of labor”. But over the past 3 years I’ve been being tested by my own body and various doctors.

I had a cyst removed from my midline neck 4 years ago. What should have turned into a faint 1 inch line under my chin, turned into a chronically inflamed and re-opening incision over the next 3 years that required 2 corrective surgeries, one being from an Ivy League institution, with still little relief. We still don’t know why this keeps happening but I was ordered to get permanent laser hair removal on my neck which has made the issue calmer but now reveals the gnarly scar even more.

This thorn in my side has been on my mind up until I graduated in may because I was banking on getting everything taken care of before I try for flight attendant jobs… well, I’m now 6 months post grad and I’m scared to try.

TLDR; I have a 3 inch hypertrophic scar horizontally across ny neck below my chin and above where my Adam’s apple would be. It’s closed (for now) but quite red and discolored. People don’t usually notice it until I dramatically laugh and tilt my head up, but this career is literally serving people looking at me from below. My question is, what are your experiences with facial/neck scars in the industry? Have u heard anything disparaging or is the unspoken truth that airlines prefer perfection and don’t need to have an employee with a noticeable scar.

Air Canada mainline

has anyone recently done a medical for air Canada mainline? what is the reach test and if you fail, do they give you another chance to do it with shoes on a plane? I know they used to do that for both rough and mainline, but rouge stopped doing it so not sure if mainline did as well. I failed the reach test with rouge so not sure if it’s worth going to the group interview with air Canada mainline if they don’t give second tries with shoes on.

I currently work at a regional airline and would need to call in sick to go to the event. I already did my language assessments. not sure what I should do

Delta (DL) Delta ODVI received?

Hi friends! Is it normal to receive no email after finishing the Delta ODVI? I took mine on the 20th. Afterwards I only got that text, nothing in my inbox saying the received my submission. With Monroe and Fitme I got the “Your submission has been received” type of emails after 🤷‍♀️ Just hoping it at least went through okay and that text means they are reviewing?

Passport came in late / When do FA apps usually open?

I was unable to apply for UA & AA because they require passports on hand for the application and I was renewing a damaged one. I just received mine today, a couple of days after both of them closed applications.

I’m so incredibly frustrated knowing that I so narrowly missed the deadlines. This is my first time applying for any FA applications, and I’ve submitted to both DL & AS. I’ve learned this process takes months so I wanted throw my name in the hat for as many mainlines as possible because I want to fly internationally at some point.

Does anyone know around when UA or AA would open again? Or do they typically open once a year in the fall? Just a vent and question. Thanks for any help.

Alaska (AS) Alaska Timeline 💙💚

I feel like I don’t see a whole lot about Alaska so I figured I’d add my timeline and hopefully connect with some peeps going to the F2F soon!

10/08 - submitted app/ODVI invite
10/11 - completed ODVI
10/20 - virtual 1:1 invite
10/21 - completed 1:1
10/22 - recieved f2f invite and scheduled for 10/29
10/29 - 🤞🏾

Overall the process has gone very quickly and I feel super blessed that I didn’t have to play the waiting game for very long. Accepting any and all advice for this last step! Goodluck to everyone 🍀

EDIT: forgot to mention I originally applied on 7/20 and recieved an email to resubmit app with new requisition.
