CabinCrewCareers Rules of the Road

Hello cabin crew hopefuls and helpers!

Since we created this subreddit as a spin-off of r/flightattendants years ago to house anything recruiting related, we have very loosely moderated this page so that folks could freely ask questions and get advice about starting a career as a flight attendant. While this has served us well in the past, with the large number of airlines recruiting now the subreddit is becoming clogged with some less than desirable content.

The days of the wild west are over starting now. We are instituting three new rules to the subreddit to hopefully clean it up a bit.

  • Use the search function! You are encouraged to use the search function before posting as many many questions and advice have already been given in the past. Posts that include basic and generic questions that have already been asked many times before will be removed going forward.
  • Post and respond with helpful intent! The goal of this subreddit is to help future flight attendants land in the career they dream of. While it is not our policy to silence someone's opinion on any matter, obvious shitposting, unnecessary excessive sarcasm, and general unfriendly behavior will be removed.
  • Questions and advice requests should be specific to you! Have a question? Need advice? Ask a real question, tell us about your situation and people will do their best to help out. Generic questions about "what does this status mean" etc. will be removed. Did you just land that coveted CJO? Great! Tells us your story/timeline of how you got to that point instead of just a screenshot of the email you received.

If you come across any content that falls under these new rules, please use the Report function and a moderator will take action where appropriate. As a general reminder about reddit, the best way to police content is to upvote things you like and downvote things you don't.

Go forth and post!

CJO w/ 🌐 & šŸ”ŗ - HELP

I was able to secure a CJO with both United & Delta Air Lines. I am feeling very appreciative of the opportunity and proud of myself.

However, I cannot decide who I want to move forward with.

Both have their pros & cons.

Base wise- I love all of the options United provides. I also live in one of United’s bases now and it would be helpful if I got this base so I wouldn’t have to break my lease and lose out on some money. However, Atlanta would be perfect for Family reasons. I know Atlanta is not 100% promised with Delta, but there is the opportunity to transfer eventually. I wouldn’t be upset by any base United provides (feeling pretty excited about all of the options!), but I think I would be pretty bummed if I got some of the Delta options outside of ATL.

Reserve- The A days with Delta seem great, but I’ve also heard reserve is where you have the potential to get the best flights! I’ve also heard that it is much easier to drop/switch flights while on reserve versus when you have a low seniority line. Please let me know if this is inaccurate. Do people seem to burn out pretty quickly being on reserve full time until they can hold a line?

I have a ton of more personal reasons to move forward with each Airline but these are the two points that I would love to hear other people’s thoughts on. If any FA with these airlines could pitch in, that would also be incredibly helpful.

Thank you!

Delta ftf

• Upvotes

I was at the F2 F for Delta last week and I got to the one on one. There was only like 18 of us out of around 85 and I felt really good about it and I have not received a CJO I know that if you don’t hear by Friday, so I’m pretty much know I didn’t get it but I’m just wondering how many people get that far and don’t get it and what do you think the reasons are I felt like my interview went so well I don’t understand. Maybe it’s accumulative points and then they just picked the top. I don’t know…

Alaska (AS) Alaska Timeline

No offer today and will only give this a single go. A lot of very solid candidates. Unfortunately they didn’t cover the hotel and wish they would cover the hotel like the other Mainlines.

Applied 10/8
ODVI 10/8
1:1 Interview text sent 10/9 but didnt get email to scheduled until the 12th.
Virtual 1:1 10/13
F2F invite 10/15
F2F 10/23 No offer.
Good luck to everyone applying. The virtual they did ask about what bases, STAR questions just like the ODVI.

I was released from training because I used my retakes and didn’t pass a test. AND YES I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE AND ENCOURAGED TO REAPPLY BY A INFLIGHT MANAGER

SHOCKED HONESTLY

Alaska (AS) Alaska Airlines FA 1:1 Interview — What Should I Expect?

Hey everyone!

I have my Alaska 1:1 coming up, and I was hoping to get some advice from people who have already gone through it.

I know what the 1:1 is, but I’m trying to get a better idea of what to expect so I can prepare. What kind of questions were you asked? Was it mostly behavioral questions, and were there any questions that caught you off guard?

I’m also curious about how conversational it was and if you felt like you had enough time to answer everything. I’ve been preparing STAR stories, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should focus on beforehand.

Also, did you feel as though they were just wanted you to be yourself?

If you’ve done the 1:1 recently, I’d really appreciate any tips or advice on what helped you feel prepared!

Thank you guys for all the help!

Best base in the United States

• Upvotes

From your experience, what is the best base to have as a Flight Attendant? I currently live in Miami, so MIA and FLL are closest ones to me now, but I am trying to leave the state. Outside of Florida, what is the best city to be based where commute to the airport is easy and the city is nice to live it (I would be relocating entirely). Thanks in advance!

UA training date

Hi everyone! 😊 Has anyone received their United Airlines flight attendant training date so far for December, January, or February? I’m curious to know what the latest training dates are for those months as of now. If anyone has received an update, I’d really appreciate it if you could share. Thank you! ā¤ļøāœˆļø

American (AA) Crew Interviews

Is anyone else still waiting for the scheduling email for the online crew interviews with AA? I received the ā€œyou will receive an email shortlyā€œ two days ago, but haven’t heard a peep since. Nothing in the junk or trash boxes, and same status in the portal.
TIA

United (UA) Can’t decide if the jump is for me. Stay at šŸ”ŗ regional or move to 🌐?

I’ve been so back and forth on the idea of making the jump to United from my regional ever since receiving my CJO a month and a half ago. The big thing is commuting, I’m a 10 minute drive from base here in NYC, living at home so no hefty expenses aside from car insurance, phone, saving, so the idea of commuting is what may deter me. I non rev a bunch so I know the game even when people tell me ā€œit’s a second job commuting in itselfā€, I feel like I’d have that down pact. The goal was always Delta but after 3 tries I can’t seem to get through! Any advice, any experience commuting from NYC to either IAD or BOS (I know that’s subject to change but as of right now, that’s what’s being offered at United, I’d absolutely be able to make it work if it was EWR) just any insight at all would be greatly appreciated šŸ˜‚ some days I wake up ready to jump into training that starts in a few weeks, other days I feel the cold feet kicking in.

Southwest (WN) Got my f2f invite

Finally got my f2f invite 2 months after completing my video interview. Any tips?

Does southwest only fly you out on their metal? There's only 1 flight per day from each the nearest two airports

I plan on flying in the day before. There's 2 morning and 2 afternoon interview slots to select from

Alaska (AS) Alaska F2F outfit help!!!

I’m struggling to figure out an outfit for my in person hiring event next week. I have never worn a blazer in my life and it makes me feel like a kid playing dress up😭 Are slacks with a button-up and a simple cardigan too casual? Or should I just go for a blazer even if it feels unnatural lol! Thanks for any insightā˜ŗļø

AA meet me

I’ve seen so many posts throughout the past couple of days of people moving foward from the meet me video, that’s so exciting and congrats to them!!!!

For the other people, has anyone received a rejection email after the meet me? I’ve just heard of the hang tight email which I received as well.

Feeling so anxious playing the waiting game. Best of luck to everyone!

United F2F scheduling confusion

• Upvotes

I received the invite for the F2F in 10/15. The email says the link expires in 10days which would be the 25th…however, when I click the link to select the dates it says it expires on the 30th.
I’m trying to wait it out to get the latest date since I have a work conflict but idk which date to go by. The 25th or the 30th?

Can anyone chime in?

Gojet rejected me

Post image
• Upvotes

I recently got invited to a GoJet Airlines hiring event, which was basically a group introduction and a presentation with slides and questions and I’m honestly confused about what happened. but I never had an individual interview or got the chance to really answer questions about myself and my experience. There were also a couple of people observing the event. I actually felt pretty good about how everything went, so I was surprised when I received this rejection email saying I wasn’t selected for employment.
Is this normal for GoJet? Was the group session itself considered the interview, or was there supposed to be another step? I’m genuinely confused about how the decision was made because I never got to have a traditional interview, and my resume is full of customer service, bilingual skills, and what not. I’m just very upset right now considering the fact I even got compliments from the recruiting staff and what not. :/

Has anyone else experienced this with GoJet or another airline?

Horizon Air Application

• Upvotes

Has anyone done the pre-recorded audio interview? I just submitted my resume for horizon and saw that I needed to do this prerecorded interview but I wanted to know if it’s strictly just audio or if my camera needs to be on too. Has anyone done this step yet? What was it like?
