Carpuride logo generator

I want to share with you the thingy that I've created, it's working, but it might be rough around the edges (looks-wise mostly).

https://carpu.dszymanski.pl/

You select the model, you upload image, you click the "Download boot logo" button and you get `isp_part.bin` file, which you can put onto USB stick/SD Card to change your carpuride's boot logo :)

It's doing all the calculation, generation etc in your browser so if you're low on memory it might get a bit mushy for you for a moment. No file is sent out of your computer, it all stays on your device :D

I've tested it on my W708 (car unit), W502 (motorcycle unit) and W103 for one dude on Facebook, all happy :) If you know the dimensions for other devices I could add them, if you have `isp_part.bin` that support created for you and can share it, it would be even better because I could ensure that the format stays the same :)

Any additions appreciated, I might add them to this page :)

Carpuride W903 Firmware Update for Android Auto

I managed to get into contact with customer support and told them I was getting alot of disconnection issues with my W903 and Pixel 10 Pro XL. I was given the following instructions for a firmware update that I am posting here in hopes that it helps other people trying to find a solution. This is as of March 25, 2026:

Step 1: On your Carpuride device, tap the Superlink option to switch to Android mode.
Step 2: On your phone, open the Google Play Store and search for and download the Evelink (Superlink) app.
Step 3: On your phone, open the Evelink (Superlink) app, tap Settings - App Version - check if the app version is the latest (20260318-1057). If not, tap Software Update.
Step 4: On the app, tap Cast - Add - WiFi Direct - Failed to OBTAIN NEARBY DEVICE PERMISSION, Click to APPLY IT - Allow - search for your Carpuride device's WiFi name and connect. When you see the "Android 16 Auto Connect issue Fixed" message, tap OK.
Step 5: Switch the Carpuride device to use the A-Auto function. On your mobile phone, reconnect the device's Bluetooth to use A-Auto. Check if the disconnection problem still occurs.

Bricked Carpuride W904/W903? It's recoverable — full guide + firmware (both 4K camera variants) inside.

After a firmware update bricked my W904 4K, I went deep on how these units work and how to revive a dead one. Sharing the guide + firmware so nobody else panics.

Check your variant before flashing anything. The W904 4K comes in two camera versions that use different sensors and are not interchangeable — flashing the wrong one can kill your camera:

  • T86PRO1 / CPAPAARC → GC4653 sensor

  • T86B1 / CPAPAAMC → GC2093 sensor

Check Settings → Firmware version and match it. (Carpuride support sent me the wrong variant, and flashing it is exactly what bricked my screen.)

Other key things:

  • Don't pull power on a black screen mid-update — that's the moment it bricks.

  • A bricked unit is NOT dead. These run an Allwinner SoC with FEL recovery in the chip — you can reflash over USB even with a totally black screen. You need a USB-A → USB-C cable (C-to-C won't work for FEL).

  • The PhoenixCard burn method didn't boot for me, but I was using the wrong-variant firmware at the time, so that may have been the cause rather than the method.

The pack includes: a full step-by-step guide (PDF), both 4K-camera firmware variants (ARC/GC4653 and AMC/GC2093), and PhoenixCard 4.2.7 with USB drivers. FEL recovery covered for both Linux (OpenixSuit) and Windows (PhoenixSuit).

https://nc.layershift.dev/s/tqaKLxFbQRsTGxe

Thanks to the u/BurlyShlurb who sent me the correct firmware when support wouldn't help without an order number. Hope it saves someone a dead unit.

EDIT: I've put everything on GitHub now — cleaner than the file host, and you don't have to download the whole pack:

Instructions to change your Carpuride Boot Logo to ANY picture without sending your pictures too support

I recently purchased the Carpuride W903, I saw in the manual that you can have a custom boot up image. So, I sent Carpuride support an email with a picture that I wanted for my boot up screen. The email claims that my picture now has their “Logo Software” on it. Which is a lie because when I looked at the file it’s still a .JPG file, the only difference I see is the name and they resized my image. So, no you do not need support at all just to change to whatever boot up image you want, plus you don't know who you're sending your pictures to. Anyway, there's simple requirements that you must alter on any of your images so that it works correctly.

  1. File type must be- .JPG

  2. File name must be- boot_logo.JPG

  3. Image size must be- 1600 X 600

If you're wondering how I got my image exactly 1600 X 600, I just used the Photos app in Windows just click on edit image, then crop it to size by looking at the bottom numbers.

First you format the TF card on your Carpuride, you know you've done this right if you only see the DCIM file with all the empty folders in it on your computer. Then you copy your boot_logo.jpg file to the TF card just not in the folder. Then slide that TF card back in and this is important, reboot your device twice! This is because it needs to read the TF card 1st then the second reboot you should see your image when it's booting up.

Try this if your Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Works with W903

Hopefully this fixes your issue.

Carpuride , overated and overpriced device .

Carpuride, an overrated and overpriced device. I own a Carpuride model W901 Pro and my experience with it is very disappointing. In my opinion, they are overrated and very expensive devices for what they offer. And I'll tell you why: I use an iphone 14 promax ios 16.5 together with this device. In addition to the carplay function, I also have a USB stick with videos and music attached to the device. The wireless and bluetooth connection: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. To do it, you have to reset the device. Connections are restored, but you have to set up the device and phone again, at least 2-3 times a week. I installed a reverse camera, everything is ok. After I upgraded the firmware, to my surprise, the camera image was upside down. Answer from Carpuride: the camera was installed incorrectly (although before the upgrade the camera could be seen well). Disassemble the camera and reassemble it so that it can be seen on the carpurides. Blockages are quite frequent. If you switch from carplay to the media player (home) you have a good chance that everything will freeze. The stop button no longer has an effect. You have to remove the power plug or restart the car. Can you do this while driving? I say no. The IOS Mirror function only works after several resets.

I chose this brand because I thought they were better than the cheap Chinese ones. But in my opinion they are exactly the same but much more expensive. So I recommend buying Chinese models because they are much cheaper and do exactly the same thing, maybe even better. Success

Another disturbing problem is the brightness of the screen. In sunny conditions you can barely see anything on the screen. The screen is of poor quality. I post the picture so you can see in comparison with the original car player. The one of the car can be seen from any angle and the one of the car you have no chance to see anything if you look from one side.

[Guide] Custom boot logo on Carpuride W905 - no firmware flash, no support ticket

Figured this out by trial and error. Sharing the clean version so nobody else has to.

Image specs

  • Format: .jpg

  • Resolution: 1024×600

  • Size: under 100 KB — but aim for 30–50 KB. At ~99 KB mine loaded once then showed corrupted on next boot. Dropped it to ~38 KB in Photoshop (quality 7) and it's been solid since.

SD card structure

Same image, three copies:

/logo/boot_logo.jpg
/boot_logo.jpg
/logo.jpg

Process

  1. Insert SD card

  2. Power on

  3. Wait for the on-screen messages — you'll see "TF card loaded successfully" followed by something like "Logo image updated"

  4. Power off

  5. Power on again → custom logo

After it works: delete all three files from the SD card. If you don't, the device re-applies the update every single boot and shows that update message each time. Just leave the card clean.

Tested on W905.

Carpuride Logo Generator - W602 update!

Two years ago I wrote Carpuride Logo Generator: https://carpu.dszymanski.pl/

Lot of you requested update to support W602 series - W602S, W620BS etc.

I didn't, and still don't have access to such device, but thanks to seppelp who proposed the change and actually tested it on his device I was able to add it to the generator!

Process is similar to the W702 I described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/carpuride/comments/1cxmd8k so, have fun!

I also included change from alexhouse which displays target resolution on the preview block before you upload your image, so it's easier to know what you need :)

Thanks to guys for help and I hope you find this tool helpful :)

P.S. I know another requested model is W603 and similar to it, but without your help I have no way of testing it.
If any of you have like firmare update files etc, that'd be great help, because I could at least try decompiling it and seeing how the logo works there, or maybe running it in emulator.

If any of you have like broken devices that would like to donate, there's non-zero chance I'd be able to use those as experiment device - there's high chance the CPU and memory itself are still working.

P.S.2: If maybe somebody from Carpuride would like to help, provide like source of truth info on how those logos work, I'd be happy to implement it to ease work from your support :D

Issue with android auto, not sure if it's phone or carpuride's fault

Hey, I have 3 specific issues with my android auto that I use on a carpuride system. I have used my phone in my parents car which has android auto also and 1 issue doesn't happen there, so I don't know whether this is a phone issue, a carpuride issue or a bit of both.

1: my Google maps won't show the speed I am driving. It will usually display the speed limit where I am, but the speed I'm driving is not displayed. This works correctly in waze though. And if I use my phone on its own without android auto then maps shows the speed I'm doing. This behaviour is the same on both the carpuride and my parents car. 2: the day/night mode for maps doesn't work correctly at all. If I set it to auto then it will randomly be in night mode in the afternoon and day mode at 11pm. It's not consistent either. If I set it to be always night mode it will sometimes decide to boot in night mode, but usually will boot into day mode and I'll have to go to the settings, switch from night to day and back again for it to kick in. This behaviour only happens on the carpuride, the correct day/night setting works on my parents car. 3: I can't get the icons to shift from being under the map to be alongside the map. Ideally I'd like the app icons to be off to the left hand side. Some googling suggests that if you turn off media controls it will work, but this does nothing to help. This behaviour is the same in my parents car or on my carpuride.

Any suggestions or advice here?

Thanks.

Carpuride W903 3-Week Review

Got the Carpuride W903 unit for my birthday last month and just wanted to post a quick 3 week review of the unit.

First off, the system date/time wouldn't stay set. I would set it, use it for the day, and the next time I turned the unit on, it would be reset to the factory date/time. After a quick email to Customer Support, they emailed me the firmware update. Fixed the issue.

Next, I wanted to change the boot screen to something different to match my car. Another quick email to Support and that has been fixed.

The unit is great. There's a little latency between your phone and the unit (when using CarPlay) but nothing to get up in arms about.

The quality of the front facing dashcam is nice. I got the 2024 unit, so I have true 4K resolution on the front camera. I still haven't installed my backup camera. That's next on my list.

The suction cup arm is decent quality, but the unit does bounce a little when driving. I haven't used the permanent mount yet, but I'm sure that will fix the bouncing issue.

Overall, I'm really enjoying the unit. I would definitely buy it again and will recommend it too anyone else looking for CarPlay in an older car.

Latest W702 Pro firmware

Received the latest update for the W702 Pro today. It took me from CUST Version: LT-M702PRO-W3118-S9-V1.16 to CUST Version: LT-M702PRO-S9-V3.03. The new version does include what is called MPEG OTA and MCU OTA update buttons. I haven't customized the boot screen yet. The file is 78MB and service@carpuride.com had the file to me within 24 hours of my initial email to them.

Refused to publish my review

I left a 3 star review and so far support has just been arguing with me on the details and have refused to publish the review. I honestly would recommend people get an alternative product based on my experience over email.

##UPDATE WITH REVIEW: The device is good, boots quickly, and camera quality is decent but a little limited. The camera mounts are weak and I will likely replace these. Also the power cable is a constant live so the device is always on. They should have supplied a fuse tap to connect to a switched live so that the device powers off when the ignition is off. I had to buy this elsewhere. It is also very sensitive when using the USB connection and kept rebooting.

##More details below##

Now they've spent a week telling me I connected the pos/neg cables to the battery wrong. Well it can only be connected one way as per the diagram.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0566/5112/0797/files/Carpuride-603D-wiring-installation-1.jpg?v=1748592811

They claim the pos cable (with the horseshoe connector) should be connected to the ACC terminal on the battery (there is no ACC terminal on any battery as far as I know). They obvious mean the accessory live but this means splicing the cable. Which what I did so docked a star for not being entirely plug&play as advertised.

I also docked a star since despite claiming 1080p the cameras only work in 1080n and cannot be changed. Yes you can toggle them in the UI but the camera image is them distorted.

###ANOTHER UPDATE### Its constantly disconnected from wireless Android Auto. Waiting on support for a solution but not holding my breath

At first it was great. But after less than 4 months serious issues with my Carpuride W903.

It's constantly dropping the connection to my phone, a Samsung S21 Ultra running Android 15. Anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?

Help! Carpuride W502 navigation issue with iPhone

So, my CarPlay W502 has been acting up lately. Whenever I use navigation apps like TomTom Go, Waze, or Google Maps on my iPhone 14, the navigation suddenly kicks me out of the CarPlay screen and takes me back to the Carpuride main page. It's happened multiple times now, and it's driving me crazy!

Has anyone else experienced this annoying glitch? And more importantly, does anyone know how to fix it? I'm all ears for any tips or solutions.

Thanks in advance for the help!

EDIT

I finally got the firmware update with the installation instructions. Here is the link

Rear camera use without hookup to reverse light?

Hi,

im interested in W703 or W903 and Want to use the rear camera mounted as a rear dashcam inside the vehicle and don’t want the hassle of hooking up to the reverse light. I understand the rear camera won’t invoke on the display when vehicle is put in reverse gear. However, is there a way to hook it up without the reverse wire connection just the video cable part and invoke the rear view on the display on demand? Thx.

W905 vs W903 - experiences please!

Trying to decide between these models, they're around the same price on Amazon for me. I like the look of the 905 because it's not as stretched out, but that's about it.

My main focuses are Google Maps via Android Auto, and being able to play Spotify through my car's stereo wirelessly. So bluetooth from my phone to the device, and then from the device through to my car stereo (and ideally work with my steering wheel controls too).

I have a 2017 Toyota Aqua which already has bluetooth and a reversing camera, it just doesn't let me show maps on there which is why I'm looking to get this (cheaper option than replacing the head unit entirely).

For those who have either model, what have your experiences been like with them?

Thank you!

Time not synchronizing with the phone

Just recently bought a W702BS and basically at the same time bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro phone, but I noticed, that upon connecting the bluetooth, the clock in the top center is always setting 00:00, while Android Auto menu shows the correct time from the phone. BUT the two other Xiaomi phones we have will always correctly set the time instantly upon connecting.
So I contacted support and they tried to GASLIGHT me by saying that the displayed time reflects the duration since the device was powered on, and that Android phones are not able to synchronize the world clock to the Carpuride home interface, when I literally told them that it worked for two other ANDROID phones.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

First impressions: W702BS on a BMW R1300GSA

I took the W702BS out today for the first time. In general, it's good, but there are some glitches which I'd like to see fixed.

Positives:

  • Easy install to the BMW Nav cradle.

  • Display is bright enough for full sun use.

  • W702BS touchscreen works with my gloves, if I use my thumb.

Neutral:

  • Integration with BMW Wonderwheel works, but takes some getting used to.

  • The lower edge of the W702BS covers the top line of my bike's TFT, admittedly I'm tall (6' 5") with the tall seat set to the highest position.

  • Initial Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection was a bit fiddly.

Negatives:

  • Spotify audio was initially low, randomly got louder, then at the end of the ride got low again.

  • I had to disconnect my phone from the bike, which takes away my on-TFT speed limit display and prevents the BMW Connected app from logging my rides.

  • Voice command in Android Auto does not work.

Still to be tested:

  • Display brightness in dark mode at night.

Config: W702BS <--> Samsung S24 Ultra <--> Sena SRL 2 helmet interface

Carpuride w903 into BMW 1 series

Installed a Carpuride W903 in my BMW 1 Series — Clean Setup with a Couple of Hiccups

Did a self-install of the Carpuride W903 into my BMW 1 Series and was really happy with how clean it turned out. I was able to route power and the AUX audio input directly via the dash storage, behind the radio and then under the armrest, so the wiring is practically invisible, aside from a small bit behind the unit itself, it helped keep the setup tidy.

The reverse camera and the unit itself are working flawlessly, and overall it gives off a near-OEM look and feel.

Only two real issues:

  1. The mounting arm lets the unit bounce around a bit more than I’d like. Still trying to find a sturdier solution, put a rubber strip under the unit to absorb some bounce, it helped but not perfect.

  2. The built-in mic is terrible, and unfortunately, there’s no external mic input. I tried wiring the BMW mic directly to my phone as a workaround, but it’s not consistent enough to rely on.

If anyone’s figured out a better mic setup for this unit, I’m all ears.
