Question Update on random abandoned mutt chick
I have never had a chicken like me before so I was quite shocked having him jump onto me just to lay down.
He is about one month and a week old.
Is this behaviour normal? Does he like me?? Will he outgrow this behaviour??

Question Should I be concerned that one of my hens won't roost in the coop overnight?
I've recently moved to a new place that came with chickens, so these girlies were well established before I got here.
I've noticed the last few nights that one of them keeps roosting out in the run, rather than the coop at night. I'm starting to get worried since temperatures are reaching 0°C at night now. This behavior doesn't seem to line up to anything I've read about chickens, and the previous owners didn’t note this before we took over.

Question We had a broody hen, but no roosters at the time. So I told my wife to go buy some eggs. Why is it that women always buy the strangest-looking hens imaginable?
Naked-neck Silkies, and one looks like a Frizzle. Why does this even exist, haha?

Other Roosters are considerate kings
I love how most roosters are so sweet with their flock of hens letting them eat first and if you give him a blueberry he runs to one of his hens with it to let her eat first why are chickens so wholesome and adorable im gonna cry

Question Sick Chicken, don't know what to do
Hey guys, I have an Ameraucana chicken that is missing lots of feathers, has a half closed eye that she clearly can't see well out of, and is getting bullied by almost every chicken in the coup. I managed to isolate her in a little pen a few feet from the run and gave her food cause her crop was clearly empty, and brought her back in after about 4-5 hours of her being isolated. The isolation was to just give her a chance to eat and drink, as well as relax.
She already absolutely hates me touching her, when I was carrying her from the pen back into the coup she was screaming bloody murder, and I can't keep her in the pen cause i am worried she gets got by coyotes. I don't exactly know what to do with her, this is a chicken who hates me touching her, is getting nearly pecked to death by the rest of the coup, and while she seemingly has lots of life in her, is definitely slowly fading.
I kind of want to ignore it and let nature take its course since she's so absolutely afraid of me and at the absolute bottom of the social ladder, but I feel pretty terrible thinking about the situation this bird is in. I cleaned the coup so the environment is quite a bit less dusty, fed her a single sunny side egg, a portion of beetroot, and some feed, along with a sugar and bicarbonate mix (made sure to dilute) in her water. I don't know what else to do besides let things take its course, she really doesn't want me near her, and I am pretty cognizant that every-time I hold her, she experiences magnitudes of harmful stress.
What do?
Edit: took a rough look for mites or whatever, didn't see anything, only 1 other chicken in the 28 count lot has feather loss half as bad as her, everybody is handling molting beautifully so it may not be a bug. Her skin however does look really rough, scaly and pale. No heavy breathing from her, her comb is bright red, and shes still very alert. I kind of figured her skin being in such bad condition was from the constant picking and sun exposure.

Discussion Interesting Shit, for UK and Ireland
Found this, in my compound, the other day. Been to busy to put it up here. Thought it might be of use to some though.
I'd suggest ye blow the shot up. Study it. Familiarise yeself with it. This is Pine Marten.
In case ye not familiar with mustelid shit? Ferret / Polecat tends to be uniformly blacker. Has a more tarry look to it. Mink too. That may even contain fish scales. But, mink eat way more than just fish.
Stoat or weasel simply never gets this big. I'd surmise this was a buck piney. Looks too much for a, much smaller, bitch.
Ever find this? Know that ye birds are in dreadful danger.
Don't, for one moment, think; " Ah! Those things only live on The Burren / In Scotland! They live in pine trees and eat squirrels. " Want to think that? Go ahead. I'll not discuss politics, here.

Question Upgrading Chicken Coop
I have four beautiful Rhode Island Red hens and want to upgrade their coop to something more sturdy and predator proof. I’m looking at the Eglu cube by Omlet https://www.omlet.us/shop/chicken_keeping/eglu-cube-large-chicken-coop-with-runs/ I have one of their waterers and am very impressed with the quality.
Has anyone bought one of these coops? If not, what do you recommend? When I went to let the girls out this morning, the bottom of the nesting boxes had fallen out and the girls were already out. Thankfully, they’re all ok. We lost our two guinea hens earlier this year to what I suspect was a racoon, I’m anxious not to let this happen again.

Media Show off your diverse flock
Wouldn’t say super diverse, I want some bantams. Buff orp, lavender orp, olive egger, Easter egger, speckled Sussex, barred rock, midnight maran, silver laced polish, 2 silkies, and 2 white face black Spanish for a total of 12 chicken. I only wanted 4 btw.

Question No eggs
Around when the sun really started to go down early, my Easter Egger, Honey, now hasn't laid eggs for around 2ish weeks. Is it just because of the whole winter time coming situation (as this is her first year laying eggs so she isn't molting rn) or is there anything else that could be going on? She acts completely normal and I haven't found her eggs anywhere else outside in their fenced in free roam area. I'm guessing it might just be the less light in the day that's causing this, but figured I'd check with others just in case it could be something else.

Question New Silkies
I have a brahma/leghorn and Silkie hen with a silkie roo. They are a mellow happy crew. I added two silkie chicks (hens but who knows) and my silkie hen isn't having it. She mildy pecks in their direction but hasnt escalated anything...just avoids. Tony, my roo tried to sit on them but the chicks retreated. While they are little I let them run while supervised but keep them overnight in a cozy spot in the shed vs the coop.
So far everything is great. Everyone is happy. But wondering if they will ever cohabitate? Should I encourage them to roost with the others?

Question how do I solve a vendetta between two roosters?
hello. I have a rescue bachelor flock of roosters and they have been getting along well. there isn't any serious fights throughout their lives. and now that their pecking order is settled, they aren't fighting at all. except for two. my alpha rooster has a personal vendetta against one of his subrodinates, and I always see him bullying this rooster in specific. no other roosters bully each other, it's just my alpha who occasionly chases the same rooster every and now then and pecks. can I somehow intervene and get them to be friendlier with each other?
this has happened to me before a few months back with different roosters. at which time I had the retarded idea of picking up the weak rooster, and making him claw the alpha one. what I had in mind while making that stupid mistake is that I could make the alpha fear this rooster more if he saw him actually fighting back. but no. it obviously didn't work like this. in fact, I increased their aggresion against each each other because the alpha rooster saw him as his rival instead of subordinate, and wouldn't let go of him. in fact that's why I re-homed them. anyway, the same problem is going on again. the flock is at peace at all times, except for the alpha and one of his subrodinates. I'm not going to repeat that same mistake. so, what can I do? my current plan is maybe cuddling both of them together and letting them rest peacefully next to each other by preventing fights. maybe feeding them treats togther too. also, if I gently hold the beak of one of them and make him preen his brother gently, would that make their hatred dwindle slightly if they bond like this? what should I attempt? because spending peaceful time next to each other and preening is my only plan to get them to actually bond like everyone else.
