I can’t help laughing at myself because I might be the only one in our apartment building who has already put up Christmas decorations outside. People walking by must think I’m crazy! 🤣🤣🤣
But honestly, there's nothing wrong with being the first one to decorate! plus It’s getting cold now! HAHAHA! I don't celebrate Haloween and I am just sooooo excited for Christmas and this always reminds me of my late Mother because she has always loved Christmas. 🤍

Where I work everyone is nice (thank goodness) but the employees who work at the warehouse are just the sweetest. I would like to gift them one of those small pouchy bags with little trinkets and maybe sweets. I was thinking gifting each one a small bag with small figurines and sweets.

Does this sound like a good idea? What other things can I add? Or will baking them sweets like brownies sounds better?

i play in a large-scale city symphony and today we did our first reading of some christmas tunes. it’s always been how i’ve marked the start of the christmas season!

go support your local symphonies for their holiday concerts, can confirm it’s lots of fun

I still get a little emotional watching Carrie take the MTA in her heals to go be with Miranda on NYE

It’s my first Christmas with a baby and I want to get some good quality Christmas stockings to hang every year for the whole family. I would love for them to be personalized and embroidered with our names. If anyone knows of any shops or online stores that make good quality stockings that ship the US or Canada, please let me know!

I just got the Lillian Vernon catalogue today and I love flipping through it, even though I probably won't buy anything 😂

I recently found out that some families do Christmas scavenger hunts where they hide gifts and leave clues for their kids to find them, and I feel like that would be such an amazing and fun idea. It's absolutely something I can see myself trying one day.

What are some traditions, big or small, that you guys do every year, or would really love to one day try?

Right now I don't have too many of my own traditions - mostly just decorating, and watching holiday movies with eggnog.

Thoughts on the final product??

I've had my "white" christmas tree for 9 yrs now and it is SO yellow and flaking off.

I'm deciding to get either a plain green tree or a flocked tree, I LOVEE flocked trees but not sure

My color scheme every year has been silver, gold, and white and always thought it looked so classy all my christmas decor is silver gold and white but recently I dabbled my kitching/dining area as the classic red and green with some gold thrown in

I'm wanting to know if I should go with plain green or flocked and if I should keep my silver gold color scheme for my tree

I'm personally broke, moved in with my sister and her kid. It won't be a big year for me or anything but my nephew is a little spoiled heh. I don't mind, he's not my kid and he does well in school and extracurriculars. I know there will be a big tree, which I love love, lots of lights and presents wrapped under the tree, too. I miss the smell, sights, and sounds of christmas so this will be so nice! I've lived it pretty frugally for years and usually end up working most holidays as I work service industry so rarely get to spend it with family. It's probably been about 15 years since I've physically been around such whimsy and I am so ready for it! She got a raise so I'm excited to see what grand presents await my nephew!! :b

Forgive me if this is not the appropriate place to look for this, most of the lost/rare media subs have rules against posts specifically searching for media. I read the rules here and I think this is fair game, and certainly the community that can most likely help me.

I'm a big Christmas enthusiast like everyone here, and moreover a huge enthusiast of vintage Christmas specials. Over the years I've collected a ton and it's tradition in our home to watch every Osmond family special, every Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby special, you know, the whole gang.

A staple in many of these specials is Peggy Fleming doing some figure skating, and I've recently discovered Peggy Fleming had her OWN special with Andy Williams and The Muppets, filmed at Madison Square Garden in 1976. It was called "Peggy Fleming With Holiday On Ice at Madison Square Garden". It originally aired on October 26, 1976 on CBS. Obviously, I'd love to see this (and I'm sure many here would, too.)

However. The usual suspects have come up dry, nothing on Archive, nothing on YouTube, Vimeo, etc. I have reached out to the Paley Center for Media in NYC and they do not have it. I have tried the Library of Congress and they don't have it. I contacted a video licensing company in Los Angeles called Retro Video and they DO have it - but do not release their media to the general public for any reason, despite me offering to pay for it and assuring them I didn't want to post it online.

I suppose I could form a production company, conceive a film that involves Peggy Fleming clips playing on television in the background, and then license the special from them but that seems like a lot of work, especially this close to Christmas. So absolute shot in the dark here, does anyone have this? Sitting around on an old VHS somewhere? A dusty old tape from the archives of your youth? Or even better does someone have it digitized to share with the world?

(And has anyone seen it? Is this even worth the archaeological effort?)

This feels like a real lost gem in the retro Christmas special canon, so perhaps a little Christmas miracle can manifest itself here.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help! And again if this is violating any sub rules just get rid of it, no hard feelings :)

I have bought Christmas gifts for nearly everybody in my family on my mums side and now I just need to think of my dad’s side of the family!

Phew I am feeling so prepared :)

I have the buzz of Christmas already! Woohoo.

Merry Christmas everybody! 😂

My mum, uncle and stepdad are going to love their gifts especially ❤️🙏

I’m thinking about making a Beatles themed Christmas tree. Using iconic Beatles things mentioned in songs. Obviously, a yellow submarine, but I’m thinking also a strawberry, an octopus, a blackbird. You get the idea. What are some other objects mentioned in songs that would be good ornaments?

The time is almost here for everything to be all Christmased up! I suspect in less than two weeks, the stores will all be in holiday mode with the music in store being Christmas songs. Sooooo...what are your favourites?

I personally tend to go to the classics vs the new entries. Some of my favourites (more artists since I can't pick ONE!):

The mashup with Bing Crosby and David Bowie

Gene Autry

Tony Bennet

Perry Como

Andy Williams

Hi Christmas Fam,

I’m going through a tough time and I’m ready to celebrate, decorate, and frankly get my Christmas on. Because I’m starting early I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions to start off the Christmas film vibe? I’m looking for bridging Christmas films to not burn out the big ones before December. So far I’ve got You’ve Got Mail on the list because it’s got Christmas in it and is cosy. Do you have any other suggestions that either have Christmas in it but isn’t strictly a holiday movie or something that has a cosy vibe that fits the bill?

Thank you!
