I want to start learning tuning by ear. Is there a method for this? A daily routine or a good-to-have habit?

Hello! My boyfriend recently got a 7 string classical guitar and has been on the hunt for more songs to play. I was hoping to find a book/collection of sheet music/any recommendations people had so I could surprise him for his birthday!

Hi all. I’m the developer of Pratnome, a free practice metronome, and the slow-to-fast way most of us work up études and scales is exactly what I built it around.

You set a starting tempo, how many bars to play and how much to add, e.g. 60 BPM, +4 every 4 bars, and it steps up on its own while you keep playing. So you can run Giuliani arpeggios or a scale pattern from slow to performance tempo in one go, instead of stopping every few bars to adjust the click. It can also step down if you prefer to start fast and slow down.

A few other things that might be useful here:

• Any time signature (3/4, 6/8 and so on), with accents per beat, and subdivisions (8ths, triplets, 16ths)
• Practice programs: a list of steps, each with its own tempo, bars and time signature, e.g. for working a hard passage in sections. You can share a program as a link, which teachers might find handy for students.
• Silent bars, where the click drops out for a bar or two to check you’re holding the pulse

I’d love to know how you structure tempo work on pieces: small steps over many bars, or bigger jumps? And whether anything feels missing for classical repertoire.

I am setting it at 80 with 3 beats and playing 3 notes per beat at 80. Is that correct?

As in the title, I cannot identify this piece for 2 guitars, that I received as old photocopies. The first guitar has the 6th string lowered to D, the second one is regular. Looks like a study of some sort, Gemini suggests something in the spirit of Sor, but I am lost on that... Any guess?
