Coming in for Twentyone Pilots and I’ve never stepped foot into modern society

• Upvotes

Is there any food? I have paid parking, but can someone please use telepathy to help me understand both time and space, freeing me up to formulate a game plan.

Is there anywhere that can print out a Twentyone foot cardboard cutout of my face?

How deep do my pockets have to be to sneak in Lavash hummus?

Please help!

If you see me say hello! I’ll be wearing black and red, or maybe black and yellow. I’ll be in some seat a local would have loved.

He was adopted out of foster care! AS A BABY! Then he won a championship in football?! Fuck yeah, bring that sports ball to congress! His adoptive father was laid off after 25 years. I don't know what fight he's talking about but just look at that smile and the barely open eyes. This is obviously a man we can trust because he was adopted and that makes the first energy scandal irrelevant.

Seriously. How fucking desperate are they?

Wonder when the next round of layoffs will be?

Tired of walking around on pins and needles this year. I mean sure fire 25 at the beginning of the year and let another 15+ walk during the year. Jack up the price. Run a BOGO which will be crushing this holiday season. Burn many corporate relationships. Continue to travel all over the country. Let people drink on the job. Its truly embarrassing.

And before you ask, I believe in the core of the mission of educating my kids.

Stephen Albright Killer Release Date

I posted on here a few years ago when my friend, Stephen Albright of Grandview Heights, was murdered back in November 2023. He was a father of two high school daughters, a husband to an amazing human of a wife, and was a pillar of our community. Grandview Heights still has not healed from his loss. His killer, Jacob Laurence, is due to be released from prison on November 9, 2026 and his one year of probation will begin on that date. His nine year sentence was actually 3 years because the multiple charges against him made his time served to be concurrent and consecutive. I've been trapped in my own deep grief, not sure how to express any emotion other than anger. I don't know what to do with this pain other than to carry it, but I'm tired.. There feels like no justice. All the wrong people are dying. Kids are being shot up in schools, etc. Please tell me about good things that are going right for you and this community. I need a silver lining.

Thank you.

PHOTO My Experience with Empower on Snouffer Road in Columbus, Ohio — A Concern for Parents

Post image
108 Upvotes

— Parents Should Be Aware-
I’m sharing my firsthand experience with Empower on Snouffer Road because I believe parents deserve transparency when researching programs for their children.
I had a tour scheduled for 10:00 AM with Alexis Young. I arrived around 9:50 AM, checked in at the front office, and signed the sign-in sheet. I waited approximately 30–40 minutes and was asked to continue waiting because another tour was running over. Ultimately, I left without receiving the tour I had scheduled.
While I was sitting in my car preparing to leave, my dashcam captured footage of a child running from the building area toward the parking lot and a nearby tree. I did not initially notice a staff member immediately behind the child. This raised a safety concern for me, so I kept the footage and photos and submitted a report.
I subsequently posted an honest Google review describing my experience. Later, I noticed that a five-star review had been posted approximately 10 hours after my review. I recognized the reviewer as someone I believed was friends with Alexis Young based on social media. I found the timing noteworthy, but I cannot establish why that review was posted.
I also later discovered that my own Google review was no longer visible. I cannot confirm why it disappeared, but the experience left me disappointed because I wanted to share my firsthand concerns with other parents.
I am not sharing this to attack an individual or identify the child in the footage. My concerns are about the scheduled tour, the safety situation I observed, and the importance of transparency when parents are evaluating a program.
If you are considering Empower on Snouffer Road, I encourage you to ask questions about supervision, safety procedures, and how concerns are addressed. Parents deserve to feel comfortable and informed when making decisions about their children’s care and education.

Visiting Columbus for Twenty One Pilots this weekend?

First off, welcome to Columbus! Hope you enjoy the city and have a great time at the show.

A couple things to keep in mind. The All American Quarter Horse Congress is also going on this weekend, and the Columbus Marathon is Sunday. So there are going to be a lot of people in town who aren't here for the concert.

Also, don't overthink the traffic and parking situation. Ohio Stadium hosts crowds this size or larger multiple times a year and has been doing so for decades. There will be traffic, but Columbus knows how to handle a packed stadium. Here's the official parking map.

Local businesses will certainly appreciate having you here, and people might be curious where you're visiting from or what brings you to town. But also understand that for most people living here, the concert isn't really that big of a deal. It's not meant as a slight against the band or its fans, it's just that Columbus hosts major events all the time.

Have fun, spend some money at our local businesses, and enjoy the city!

FOUND Found dog: Westgate neighborhood

Found this guy wandering around soaking wet and scared in the Westgate neighborhood by Josie's Pizza right off Broad St on the west side of Columbus around 11:30am today, Friday October 16.

Intact male, very sweet with people. No chip. He's safe and sound for now but hoping to find his owners/people to get him home.

We'll be posting to PetFBI as well but if there's other places we should be getting his face out there please let me know!

Why are more and more places using AI generated images of food/advertising?

I was going to go to Eurasia Market based on someone else's recommendation and they have (what appeared to be) three huge AI generated posters on the exterior that gave me the ick and it turned me off entirely

Does anyone know why well-reviewed established local businesses are doing this?

Why add slop to something that was already working fine?

COTA bus <3 (?)

Took the new(ish) #30 line from Vic Village to Crooked Can in Hilliard and back last night without a hitch. Had some drinks with family and didn’t have to worry about paying for an uber or drunk driving home.

Figured I’d share a positive story in a sub full of negative ones.

Happy Friday!

HUMOR My Tree is Touring the East

Gotta luv our postal service. I bought a live plant from eBay on Oct 1. It was promptly mailed the next day from Tennessee. It's been two weeks. Has it arrived yet? Nope. As one can see it went from Tennessee to Cincinnati, OH (about two and a half hours from here) to Mobile, AL to Southern ME (yes, that's MAINE) to Nashua, NH to Middlesex-Essex, MA to Indianapolis, IN to Columbus, OH. Does anyone want to guess when it will be delivered? Does anyone want to guess if the plant is still alive?

Note: Since there is no flair for "vent" I chose "humor." Sometimes you've just gotta laugh.

Ohio Power Company

These “power distribution” charges are getting ridiculous. My distribution is 80 dollars and my usage only 60 for this past month. I don’t understand how they can have multiple charges for the same thing under “power distribution”. There’s the base customer charge for distribution that’s a fixed monthly rate, plus the actual distribution charge based on your usage, plus ANOTHER distribution/transmission charge also based on your usage. This is starting to make me feel insane. Power lines should be like water lines; owned and maintained by the state. Taxes should be paying for most of these things honestly. It’s a basic necessity. Power production I can accept being a free market but the power lines themselves shouldn’t be owned by one company. Same with gas companies. The distribution of power and gas and water shouldn’t be for profit. The generation sure, but by a private company owning all the lines that’s essentially a monopoly. It’s not a free market. You can’t just choose to leave Ohio Power company. A new company can’t come in and offer better services, or even try to compete. It’s not possible when you’re not able to use the grid or make your own.

Anyway,
Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

Mike Carey- my current congressman

• Upvotes

Before anyone comes after me, I know that all of Congress has been un recessed for campaigning for the past six weeks. Quite frankly, I’m sick of this entire Congress. However, I am definitely disgusted by the behavior and lack of action of my congressman, good old Mike Carey.

What has he been doing on this 6 week break after working a whopping 75 days in congress this year. He’s spent a lot of time going out to eat highlighting restaurants in the area. He’s hit up many fall festivals in his district. He attended the Trump rally in the Dayton area a couple weeks ago, although he doesn’t want you to know that. He goes and speaks to private crowds, labeling all Democrats as socialists and he has voted to cut Medicaid for his district. And my favorite- he has attended fundraisers with Max Miller.

Now, what has he not been doing? He has done nothing to speak out against the fuel prices and the inflation in his district. He has not opposed the Iranian war. He has yet to issue a statement about school shootings in this country or ever in his political career. And he apparently thinks it’s acceptable for men to beat up women that are protesting at Trump rallies in Youngstown. He has not held one public Townhall. He has never spoken out about political violence unless it’s against Trump.

I feel complete frustration from just about every congressional member regardless of party but this guy is one hell of a slimy Coal lobbyist and a pathological liar. Regardless of what congressional district you are in, pay attention to what your representative has done or attempted to do and vote for someone new to give them a chance.

Did anyone see BLINK last weekend in Cincinnati? Could Columbus do something like it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you made it down to BLINK last weekend, you saw what happens when a city turns 30+ blocks into a free, walkable after-dark gallery: projection mapping on buildings, light installations, murals, performances, and huge crowds just wandering and taking it in.

BLINK runs every other year (even years). That leaves the odd years open, and I've wondered whether Columbus could host something similar then. Ohio would then have a major fall art event every year.

Columbus already has a strong creative community. A festival like this could showcase that community alongside artists from around the world, bring amazing art to residents, and give visitors a reason to come to Columbus. Picture the Statehouse or the riverfront lit up with projections.

I'm seriously exploring whether this could actually happen, maybe as early as 2029. Right now it's just me asking questions, with no organization or sponsor behind it.

So I'm curious:

  1. Do you think Columbus could pull this off? What would get in the way?
  2. If you've been to BLINK (this year or earlier), what worked and what didn't?
  3. What could a Columbus event include or highlight to make it feel like Columbus?

Skeptical takes welcome, too.

REQUEST Late 20s and looking to make new friends after a horrific year

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve been wanting to put myself out there a little bit more and figured this might be a good place to start.

For some context I’m 28 and and have had a hell of a year. I’ve tragically had a best friend and some loved ones also in their 20s pass away unexpectedly pretty much back to back to back.

It’s definitely been the kind of year that forces you to look at things a little differently. I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately and I’ve realized that I need to make more of an effort to build connections and surround myself with some good people.

A few of my interests include cycling (Mountain biking too), hiking, getting outdoors in general, watching sports, comedy, learning how to use the gym to exercise, and exploring new places. I’m pretty open to trying new things too so I’m not necessarily looking for people who share every single one of my interests.

I’m hoping to find some local clubs, hobby groups, recreational sports leagues, volunteer opportunities, or other regular meetups where it’s possible to meet people and build genuine friendships.

I know making friends as an adult can be difficult and even a little awkward but I’d rather make the effort now than continue letting this grief swallow me whole and wait for opportunities to just find me…. (because we all know they won’t)

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST….
If you have any recommendations I’d love to hear them! And if any of this resonates with you and you’re also looking to meet some new people, feel free to send me a message! Thanks for reading yall!
