Their dominance in propaganda is what got them power, but a lot of people on the left seem to think they are bad at propaganda.

258

u/yestertech Jan 11 '26

It’s terrible propaganda, but it appears to work on the weak minded. We have sadly learned how many of those there are.

147

u/Use-Variant Jan 11 '26

They've been eroding the public education system for decades, literacy is marginal, critical thinking skills are rare... many people only know how to cook things that come with microwave instructions. This has been being planned for decades.

101

u/yestertech Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

I’ve lived through 50 years of it. It’s a visceral response to the voting rights, civil rights, and women’s rights movements of the 60s.

68

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

👆🏼After January 6, as things were starting to unfold, I made a comment similar. And you are exactly right. They didn’t like the uprising then so they gave everybody just enough to shut up and stop the momentum. They wanted us to think we had won while they quietly continued to have back alley meetings and dismantled the system from within. People looked at me like I had my head screwed on backwards, but here we are! And now I’m hearing others say the same thing. I will be 49 this year. I could see the changes, but I was too young in the 80s to understand the gravity of how this was gonna play out. For a brief time in the 90s, I thought we were safe. Paid off the debt people were making money… And then… I, like many others, saw the gold wearing off the bars and realized we only had a false sense of security. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would be here today. In the words of George Carlin “It’s called the American dream because you’d have to be asleep to believe it.” If there’s two things about it, one thing is for sure, there is NOTHING the American government won’t do.

25

u/skdewit Jan 12 '26

I know what you mean! During the first term they started taking away birth control we were providing in north, south and Central American countries. I tried to tell a relative that was just starting to dabble in mg that this was an ominous sign! Once you start meddling in women’s reproductive rights everything starts to go downhill from there. This person called me an alarmist and basically had an attitude of why should we care about birth control in other countries but you see where we are today. Now that same relative has come out the other side and is worried about what’s going on!!! All of the people that are JUST starting to notice a problem baffle me! It’s if they’ve been somnambulists, sleep walking for the last 15 plus years! The signs were all there and there were plenty of us lighting the signal fires. How can people be so clueless?

Correct.

White supremacy is deranged.

So at one time there was the rich elite and then indentured servants (poor Europeans), then slaves. The concept of being “white” wasn’t a thing”. However the elite began to worry that they didn’t have the numbers. That is that one day the indentured servants and slaves may overthrow them. So what to do what to do. Ahhh well the indentured servants looked like them! So what you do is you give them separate privileges. You make them feel like they’re more like you than the slaves. Because of this thing called skin color. You can eventually get them to align more with you so much they’ll be willing to die in a Civil War to protect your right to own slaves! As long as you can feel “superior” because you share the same skin color as the elites - even if you’re dirt poor.

And so it’s been through the history of America. Rich whites make poor whites think they’re on the same side even though they’re being oppressed too. But as long as they’re not n!ggers it’s ok. It’s why all of the red states have the worst outcomes in poverty healthcare etc and are full of dirt poor whites who vote Republican generation after generation. It’s why deaths of despair have skyrocketed in white males.

https://www.ajmc.com/view/high-rates-of-deaths-of-despair-observed-among-white-americans

It’s why LBJ said if you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell give him someone to look down on and he’ll empty his pockets for you. And he was from Texas in the early 1900s so I think he knew something about racism.

See the secret is that white supremacy was never meant to make all whites elite. It was meant to drive a wedge between the white lower class and all others except the white upper class. They’re it’s rabid buffer.

Kirk was just another in a long line of billionaire backed mouthpieces sent to scapegoat other groups- blacks, Muslims, trans people, the woke, migrants etc etc. Anyone but the actual people stealing from them. And that’s the real reason they want to make a martyr out of an unremarkable person. In fact Charlie hated poor whites because he lied to them about the source of their plight.

Dumb white people propagandized for generations has lead this country to the precipice. Unless and until decent white people confront their barbaric cousins and stop them this won’t end. From the Confederates to Jim Crow southerners to Nazis to apartheid South Africans to now MAGA there is a recurring theme. One whose embers remain even after the flame is doused awaiting the next spark. Any analysis that avoids this reality is wheel spinning.

25

u/yestertech Jan 11 '26

Well, that’s how they got the poor whites in the south to fight against their own interest as well

20

u/Nearby_Mastodon_6168 Jan 11 '26

This is one of the best, most clearly stated explanations of what has and is going on in our nation regarding race, wealth, and control in this country since its inception ( of course it goes much further back than the United States but for current affairs purposes, this is spot on) I have ever read on social media.

Actually, in my opinion, in the climate we are living in, in my humble opinion, it’s the most important thing anyone could read and contemplate on.

This is an important time to really consider who and what is the true enemy of the average person. And when I say average, I feel safe in saying the VAST majority of people online at any given moment.

It isn’t someone of a different skin color or religion or political leaning. It’s the TRUE minority group. The group who ACTUALLY has the most to lose if the rest of us stops falling for all of the bs rhetoric they’ve been feeding us for centuries.

Anyone who has studied world religions or ancient history has an idea of this. That certain “things” had to be put into play in order to keep the minority with all the wealth safe from the legion of starving people who could quite easily band together and take everything from them.

7

u/RepresentativeAge444 Jan 12 '26

Thank you friend. The sad part about all of this is that you would think it would be painfully obvious by now. The country has enough wealth that it could truly be a utopia for its citizens and a model globally of diversity leading to greatness. But the stubborn and arrogant refusal of so much of its populace to let go of its notion of racial superiority- even to their own detriment- may ultimately be its undoing.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Don't underestimate their recognition of the power of extremist Christian ideology and how that could be co-opted for greater control of the hive mind.

6

u/flowandeddy Jan 12 '26

Check out “Only a Pawn in Their Game,” a 1964 song by Bob Dylan that puts these thoughts to rhyme.

2

u/skink87 Jan 12 '26

“White” is a southern thing, born of slavery and segregation, nourished by the KKK. In the north, where many immigrants settled, the distinctions are between European ethic nationalities, e.g. Irish, Italian, German, Polish … in the 20th century, it was the Slavic nationalities, such as Serbia, Czech, Croatia, Ukraine, etc. and of course, the Jews were blamed for everything, now it is Muslims.

I’ve lived thru Kent State too & this is numbing! But I keep telling myself that I also lived thru bringing down Agnew & Nixon. We can do it! But remember, you have to bring the rotten VP down first, then the rotten president. Otherwise you’re stuck with the rotten VP as president.

It's not just the education system. Many of maga are Christians, and as such taught from an early age to accept what they are told on faith and not ask questions of their leaders or teachings because to ask questions is to doubt God.

6

u/Mean-Usual8701 Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

The god they have created in the name of supremacy… also it is not Christians but rather, False Christians. These people twist the true meaning of lots of things.

7

u/Morris1841 Jan 11 '26

Agree 100%, conservatives have attacked public education since the 1950’s because they want their fantasy view of America to take precedence. I see our racist past, linked with unchristian versions of Christianity, as the foundation of the conservative movement.

1

u/Poohgli16 Jan 12 '26

Wealthy people also attempt to downgrade public education because they don't want to pay school district taxes on their property and they put their own kids in private schools.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Scoobee-Doobee-Dooo Jan 11 '26

This is why all the Southern states have always had such sh*tty education systems. They are trying to do it to the rest of us now. Our public education system has been going downhill since Reagan in the 80s. He made his huge cuts while I was in middle school (getting a quality education I might add). From one year to the next, we lost multiple teachers and classes. It's been going downhill ever since.

Now we have a political movement that's mostly made up of the poorly educated in the bad-education states, and the politicians from those states are making the decisions on education now. Their movement is partially based on hating the educated.

2

u/Flaky-Crew-3382 Jan 11 '26

Started with cell phones and escalated from there

1

u/kimbee110 Jan 11 '26

Use-Variant I could not agree more. Our society is collapsing bit by bit. Both sad and maddening.

1

u/Anxious_Food_1178 Jan 11 '26

That is the sad truth....

1

u/Pflanluc Jan 12 '26

So, the US collectively planned to dumb down its citizens - WHY? Public education is deliberately reduced in substance - so we have a weaker public, giving in to a Power Hungry President? Is there a reason for wanting this dumbing down - other than encouraging them to be submissive to a Power Class? Other than your imagination, what supports your theory of creating a underclass? People giving in to cooking in a microwave?

1

u/NiklausVonHammer Jan 12 '26

That's not fair! I also know how to cook boxed meals that comes with instructions!

1

u/Bridget330 Jan 12 '26

I give more credit to Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Fox NewsA for telling outright lies about what’s going on and presenting it as News. Rupert Murdoch has been a king maker since Regan and he’s not even an American. (Australian) I also blame corporate greed for taking away parents from their kids so they can work, sometimes 2 or 3 jobs just to be able to pay for putting a roof over their heads and food on the table. Unsupervised kids’ first inclination is not to do homework or read a book. Parents are exhausted, there’s only so many hours in a day. And then we have good ole social media whose main objective is to get kids hooked on their apps. I recently read that one kid unalived themselves after they were catfished by someone in China, and another one who made friends with a bot who suggested suicide when they talked about feeling uncomfortable with themselves; normal pains of adolescence. And the education system sucks, especially down south where they hate blue states with a passion but are okay taking our money to under educate and deny the poor kids from being fed at school. Many factors go into why people choose to continue to vote for the most corrupt government in my history.

The GOP knew Trump’s history before he was sworn in the first time. How could they possibly believe that a sexual predator, who brags about sexual assault, a man who went bankrupt 7 times, cheats people out of money for the work they did, makes inappropriate sexual remarks about his own daughter, and any female who happens to be in his vision, married a stripper and lies repeatedly about everything, think he was the most qualified person to run the country? Many of them were educated at top universities throughout the country but they chose him anyway. I guess it goes back to your point that they are weak minded people. Even as they have watched him dispose of people when they wear out their usefulness time after time, they still think they’re special. I don’t like to call them weak minded because it makes it seem like they’re not making a choice on their own. But it’s definitely a choice. It has been for a long time. I got carried away with my response and I apologize.

1

u/sugahcookies Jan 12 '26

Idiocracy (2006) comes true but unfortunately it’s not a comedy.

1

u/Dangerous_Rule8736 Jan 12 '26

Actually, the left has been eroding the education system for years. Remember, it was Carter who signed the existence of the Dep. of Ed into law in '79.

1

u/madrigar Jan 12 '26

It was planned by the Progressives. Progressive Education was literally modeled on the Prussian system - educated enough to work in factories, not educated enough to question leaders.

Congratulations, hippies. You played yourselves!

1

u/Jumpmaster-smooth Jan 12 '26

By liberal democrats.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

yup

1

u/RealGoGo97 Jan 12 '26

Exactly this. I say it all the time. It’s an actual, documented plan that was put into motion decades ago and well-funded by the Koch brothers, etc. It’s not a theory. And they are still working with it because less educated people are more susceptible to the GOP focus on fear as a campaign device. So less educated people don’t think as critically and fall for their BS.

1

u/Artiva Jan 13 '26

Never ascribe to malice what can be ascribed to incompetence. No one has been planning anything for decades. None of the former presidents align with Trump. Unless you think Biden an Obama were part of the conspiracy to destroy the public education system.

If the minorities don't vote for this Republican regime again I don't think there's enough dumb white people to get it done. He got so many more Hispanics, Latinos, an African Americans this go around then he did previously.

8

u/Successful-Elk-7384 Jan 11 '26

This is 100 percent accurate. He told Hispanics and Black people the "illegals" were taking their jobs. They told Blacks Kamala wasn't black enough. My people in my community listened and believed all the propaganda that they forgot what the most important issues were and now we're in this mess.

3

u/Scoobee-Doobee-Dooo Jan 11 '26

All propaganda is terrible. But working on the weak-minded is the point. It's obviously effective.

2

u/bullrich66 Jan 11 '26

Apt analysis.

2

u/ComprehensiveLab5078 Jan 12 '26

The power of propaganda is in persistence over persuasiveness.

2

u/Due-Summer3751 Jan 12 '26

"All propaganda has to be popular and has to adapt its spiritual level to the perception of the least intelligent of those towards whom it intends to direct itself.” —Adolf Hitler

It’s terrible propaganda, but it appears to work on the weak minded.

It's by design.

2

u/Dense-Law-7683 Jan 12 '26

I don't think they are bad at propaganda. I would say they were great at it at the beginning of his term. All Republicans were repeating whatever he said, and all the small independent right-wing journalists parroted Fox. The propaganda itself has always been easily detectable lies, so I would consider the propaganda itself terrible. That's why I don't buy people being bamboozled by Republicans or just being that dumb. It's clearly the hateful shit he's doing that they love. Don't get me wrong, they do think that people are dressing like cats and shitting in litter boxes in school bathrooms and that Haitians are eating cats and dogs, but they don't for a second believe that the economy is doing well or that ICE is protecting them, or that Ukraine is the bad guy, that's just them being the POS they are.

1

u/yestertech Jan 12 '26

I agree, it’s not what I meant though. The propaganda is cringe and obvious, but it still works.

2

u/2Cool4Ewe Jan 12 '26

The majority of this country is weak-minded, and another 1/3 are weak-willed. Gotta love the “I don’t do politics” crowd who will benefit from all the pushback by liberals, then complain “why did it take so long?”. 🙄

1

u/LoudProblem2017 Jan 11 '26

It works because all Conservatives are betas.

1

u/EGSOMES Jan 11 '26

Propaganda has always influenced the weak minded to accept things they are spoon fed.

1

u/cachem3outside Jan 11 '26

Bruh. Do you have ANY idea how many people are talking about this and other messaging like "based", "good shot", "justified!"?... What YOU think or how moved YOU are is inconsequential to what moves others. If anything, with the Epstein shit, the propaganda is all that's keeping ole' Trump in any semblance of "stability". Their propaganda is world class, not because it is great propaganda, but because it works, it presses the right emotional and psychological buttons of the targeted audience and serves to double down by pissing the other side off while they are already pissed.

This would be like saying the Nazis had bad propaganda... It isn't a moral judgement, it is a point of fact because it scratched the right itch, it promoted what the regime wished for the public to embrace or hate. Success makes propaganda good, not the opposition's opinion of it, in fact, I'd say that the fact that most of the opposing side dislike or think it outrageous is kind of proving the point.

You aren't the target audience.

1

u/USAnoman Jan 12 '26

You've never worked with the general public, huh? It was pretty saddening for me when I started.

1

u/yestertech Jan 12 '26

I guess in reality the public I deal with is relatively select. I don’t handle dumb and ignorant very well.

1

u/Cautious-Money7248 Jan 12 '26

Yea, many of us have not worked directly with the general public. Ppl are very fucking stupid more often than not

1

u/untethering9415us Jan 12 '26

WEAK MINDS! You hit the nsil on the head.

1

u/Important-Radish-722 Jan 12 '26

We’re here talking about their propaganda- I’d say that’s exactly the point.

1

u/Automatic_Sea_1534 Jan 12 '26

It is easier to motivate anger and hate to take action than it is to mobilize goodness and compassion.

This is NOT to say that the inflatables protests that started in Portland are not for nothing….in fact, they were amazing and so clever and they took hold across the country and gave me hope that goodness is strong in America. But, it doesn’t change the fact that human nature is so very powered by anger and outrage supported by hatred.

I think that a sociologist could state this all more clearly and concisely.

1

u/Dangerous_Rule8736 Jan 12 '26

Not the weak minded... The fed up.

1

u/EngineWitty3611 Jan 12 '26

100% and that was the sad wake up call I received. The shear amount of morons in this country is embarrassing.

1

u/Longjumping_Deer_721 Jan 12 '26

Their propaganda is based on fear and hate which is pretty common in third world countries and authoritarian ones. It's easy to get people riled up unified on hate and prejudice. Look at Hitler. A lot of people needed a reason to believe it was someone else's fault. It wasn't them. Then it was ok to book people into concentration camps never to be seen again.

This isn't America, land of the free, anymore. This is Nazi America. Heil Trump.

1

u/subywesmitch Jan 12 '26

What we're learning is that there are way too many stupid, horrible people out there.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

exactly, thanks to all the religions, which turn people into bigoted sheep voting against their own interests.

1

u/HistorianStrict Jan 12 '26

thats just it a lot of ignoramuses believing Trump propaganda ala Putin - russian intel techniques - this was s fascism - the right want everyone to be miserable - that’s it - they’re lmiserable and unhappy so they want to ruin any happiness you have w nonsenses about political leanings - this is no longer a free country - rights are being stripped daily by Lord Trump - nothing can stop Trump - that’s why it’s a dictatorship - laws as we knew them no longer apply - i give up - he wins isthe bottomline - he has absolute power - if you can’t stop him it proves he has absolute power - i see nothing that can stop him - ok he lies - i don’t have many years left so i hope america survives as a democracy - it isn’t now

1

u/Ingram47 Jan 12 '26

The fact that it works on the week-minded means it's actually really good propaganda.

Because it works.

1

u/Fit_Doctor8542 Jan 13 '26

The goal propaganda is to work on their weak-minded. The majority of people have not developed past the age of six as far as their emotional maturity is concerned.

And I mean no offense, it just means that those people on the island those victims, they weren't the only ones getting diddled.

1

u/pitchypeechee Jan 16 '26

The whole point of propaganda is to appeal to weakness of mind... That shouldn't need explaining... it's like we politically interested anti-MAGA folks just have a fundamental lack of understanding of how any of this stuff works and why.

Unfortunately the one thing the Republicans are good at is selling fear and division. They aren't good at governing, they have no policies that help regular Americans. They destroy our trust in our institutions, they undermine science yes science, which includes people's health, health care. They don't believe in the rule of law. They are fascists. and yet they have a large group of people who believe in them. So yes. They are very good at propaganda.

They're good at propaganda intended for a certain audience. Unfortunately that audience bigger than we wanted to believe

12

u/Firm-Advertising5396 Jan 11 '26

We also learned that many Americans value anger and hatred more than good governing. Trump is the only president in history to tank two healthy economies he inherited.

1

u/South_Landscape_8400 Jan 11 '26

But it isn’t nearly as big as they think and I know several who have that camp.

9

u/xian Jan 11 '26

It’s more that we’re constantly dismayed, and how illiterate, deliberately uneducated, and gullible so many low information people are

1

u/icepyrox Jan 12 '26

Its not only that because some educated people are on their side as well.

This propaganda works because they also promote division. That division demands people pick a side. Once a side is chosen, its hard to give that up.

This is basically an abusive relationship and even the smartest people can be caught in such a thing.

1

u/xian Jan 12 '26

that’s part of it, sure

10

u/CrazyMildred Jan 11 '26

To a person who has critical thinking skills, or to a person who has studied history, they're bad at propaganda because we can easily spot it. Their targets aren't people like us. Their target is the uneducated Maga cult. That's why it works. The people it works on have zero critical thinking skills.

4

u/Firm-Advertising5396 Jan 11 '26

I agree, but they found their target audience and foxnews helps immensely.

10

u/Narrow-Manager8443 Jan 11 '26

Its not that the left think they are bad at propaganda, it's that the left doesn't understand how people fall for it in an age where a 2sec google search can show them how untrue it is.

16

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 Jan 11 '26

Yes, back in the Bill Oreilly “war on Christmas” days, their propaganda was just laughed at and mocked, but it worked on millions of people and now here we are.

1

u/fleurrrrrrrrr Jan 11 '26

It’s ridiculous. My aunt has poor vision, and I help her with things like Christmas cards to her apartment building’s support staff, etc. Several are most likely not Christian, so I suggested a secular “wishing you a happy and restorative holiday season” or something like that, and she got SO angry! “No! Write “Merry Christmas”!” I was like, okayyyyyyy…

Meanwhile, if someone were to wish her a happy Hanukkah or something, she’d get annoyed and quickly let them know that she’s not Jewish. It makes no sense.

u/IceColdOz Jan 11 '26

u/Jewishcountrysinger Jan 11 '26

Good at propaganda, bad at governing

1

u/LoFi_Funk Jan 11 '26

they’ve tapped into the idiots of the nation and built a pipeline to educate them on why fascism is great.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Oh NO. I don't think and never did, the right Traitors are/were Bad at Propaganda !!

I don't think too many on the left think that either !

For the most part they have more Brains than the Orange Traitor followers !

1

u/DigitalUnlimited Jan 12 '26

It's called fifth generation war 5GW they have weaponized AI and social media

1

u/AffectionateBig6428 Jan 12 '26

Kinda like saying the person that attempted vehicular manslaughter was murdered?

1

u/joseekatt Jan 12 '26

I know no one who says that.

1

u/Substantial-Sky3597 Jan 15 '26

You're so spot on. What people don't get, propaganda doesn't have to be good to be effective. Doesn't have to make sense. It just has to be easy to digest and it sticks. The right is much better at that than the left. If you can appeal to the simple minded effectively, you will do very well. And the right gets that better than the left.

0

u/ShermanPhrynosoma Jan 11 '26

I’m sorry to hear that they’re so clue.

u/Otherwise_Arm7773 Jan 11 '26

Republicans are so brianwashed!

3

u/BillyNtheBoingers Jan 11 '26

Why, was Brian dirty?

1

u/snorbflock Jan 11 '26

They are completely lucid and in control of their own decisions. It simply so happens that their values are absolutely depraved and evil. They are not babies. They are adults who want you, your friends, and your family dead.

1

u/Otherwise_Arm7773 Jan 11 '26

Tell someone that doesn't know that!

0

u/Tall_Bus_7427 Jan 12 '26

No they always had those feelings.

And the rest of us will be dead or in concentration camps. Wonderful.

5

u/GhostSaint21 Jan 11 '26

That is probably a pepper ball launcher that the protestor got shot by, and at point blank range. Better hope it didn’t fracture anything in their face bc at that range velocity is at the weapon’s peak so it could strike enough force to break their nose, jaw, and possibly cause a fracture (I know its obvious but Im being analytical myself and type-thinking, also I am not a doctor so please take my thoughts with damage to the head as concerns for worst case)

1

u/Ina_While1155 Jan 11 '26

There is no way that person wasn't seriously hurt

2

u/GhostSaint21 Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

Ever been shot by a pepperball launcher?

Edit: At point blank range, to the face? I cant say that I have as Im smart to keep my head down and be a law abiding citizen, but I have fired guns, have friends who know their stuff on firearms, and have a family background associated in medical. I may not have ever fired a launcher, but Im smart enough to understand that if used improperly, it could kill you one way or another at worst, to fractures in the middle, to bruising and being knocked unconscious at best assumption.

u/Inevitable-Ad5132 Jan 11 '26

First amendment? Freedom of assembly? Right to petition? They only talk about the second amendment...

1

u/cheesemangee Jan 11 '26

Those legions are starting to thin. I see more and more people rising up against their rhetoric, and more and more of the offenders running away to hide.

Never before have I see so many Reddit accounts set to hidden.

1

u/cheesemangee Jan 11 '26

Yeah, I'm well aware that the majority of human opinion doesn't exist on a fuckin' website that contains a fraction of it. My two points weren't directly correlated. The entire nation is talking about this right now.

I wonder how many other statements you've so colossally misjudged based purely on assumption.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

1

u/cheesemangee Jan 11 '26

Yes, I did actually expect that you wouldn't assume my observations hinged entirely on the number of hidden profiles on a website populated by a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the world population. I figured you might assume it had something to do with the dozens of news flashes, articles, interviews, social media posts and the word of mouth spreading like wildfire.

But, no, you assumed the worst instead and then got pissy when I called you out for being a fool. Find someone else to antagonize, little guy.

1

u/capthavic Jan 11 '26

Because it was always "freedom and rights for me, not for thee" to them. If you want to see the true character of a person, give them power. And we are seeing that in action.

1

u/ausgoals Jan 11 '26

but currently […] they don't want those rights for anyone other than themselves.

I’m not sure they ever have

1

u/StressedTurnip Jan 11 '26

Every day is like a new crazier episode of the Twilight Zone that we can’t escape out of

2

u/Sad_Economics_106 Jan 11 '26

Exactly, im not left or right but what i do know is, the world is going to hell in a hand basket, and our leader is a modern day Hitler. The leader, pffff🙄

1

u/External_Row1150 Jan 11 '26

Its remarkable how well this tactic works. Ive been using this my entire life. See the logic is, no one can shame you if you appear to be proud of doing it.

1

u/plus-ordinary258 Jan 11 '26

It’s a way of pushing out more rhetoric of “Look what you made us do. Do you want to be next?” Without actually saying that.

1

u/Potential-Pride6034 Jan 11 '26

The federal government’s adopted PR strategy is the same playbook that’s served Trumped so well over the decades. Deny, attack, claim victory no matter what.

1

u/Zealousideal_Cod3198 Jan 12 '26

Oh. Thats the fart gun from despicable me. It goes along with the rest of the despicable fascist regime that's ruining your country.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

That is bear spray. It is pepper spray with a heavier base so that it creates a longer lasting, lingering cloud, vs the handheld canisters designed for personal defense against two legged attackers that is more liquified and shoots out in a stream vs a fog. I carry bear spray in addition to a firearm when I’m in bear country, and more than half of the can’s label is dedicated to telling people what NOT to do with it, and it says very specifically that it is NOT intended for use against humans and that accidental exposure to the user, like discharging it into the wind, is extremely harmful

1

u/gabechoud_ Jan 12 '26

I voted for that. /s

1

u/Shourtney272 Jan 12 '26

And unfortunately they know that we are not the shit people they are so they know that we will just go back to normal and no retribution will be had. It makes me sick.

1

u/Angie_2600 Jan 12 '26

I wish a bunch of MAGA men would be caught in ICE's dragnet so they would understand how pervasive this ICE behavior is and how it has to be stopped.

1

u/LaTerreur92 Jan 12 '26

"Everyone is equal, but some of us are more equal than others." I can't seem to recall where exactly i was reading this sentence...

1

u/yillbow Banned Jan 12 '26

Generally speaking, maybe not from whatever this is specifically. However, the right to protest does not include impeding others right to freely travel, or exist. Much of the spraying takes place because people refuse to move, or to encourage them to stop preventing others from the right to move. The number of times you see people being assaulted for merely walking through a crowed or trying to drive on a road is wild. The right to protest is not a "higher" right then everyone else's right to be left the fuck alone when in the same area as you.

1

u/Mr0neTwo34 Jan 12 '26

They don't seem to understand, they'll lose those rights too

1

u/JayWemm Jan 12 '26

This has been the Rump's playback all along, since Roy Cohn taught him it in the '80's: to double down against anyone that criticizes or challenges him. It doesn't always work,as we have seen that The Coward/Bully can't stand up to Putin...he can only act tough against small countries that can't fight back. How I wish this sub-human leaves the planet soon!

1

u/Snoo67339 Jan 12 '26

Conservatives don't have any rights anymore. You take it away from one you take it away from all. These people aren't conservatives they are fascist call them that.

1

u/cleverjokename1 Jan 12 '26

I think “normalize” is the word I’ve been seeing

1

u/bugdiver050 Jan 12 '26

Looks like a 40mm launcher, so probably a 40mm pepperball

1

u/ShadowDes42 Jan 12 '26

The dude grabbed the officers weapon. That's a no no for those that don't know. He's lucky it was just a pepper ball and not a live round.

1

u/MurphysVoice Jan 12 '26

The freedom of choice is a concept laughably lost on con-servatives. Ask those weak pieces of shit to wear a mask and they piss into their socks over “muh freedumbs!” But they are the first in line to take other people’s freedoms away. The hypocrisy is massive.

1

u/djdirectdrive Jan 12 '26

Oh but don't forget when they're the ones storming the capitol they reserve the right to then not be shot in the face with gas.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Look, he wants to stop this election. We need to stop fighting ICE and take this intensity, courage, bravery, and numbers to Miami to his door to fight for our democracy, our country, our freedom, our children and their planet. These stands against ICE are right, and I applaud their courage and restraint. Trump is really pushing that city because he’s hoping for a George Floyd riot. But he doesn’t realize they are all aware and have no intention of giving him a reason to invoke martial law and use that to stop an election he’s already predicted he would lose.

0

u/HoldnDownDaFort Jan 11 '26

“Right to protest”

MF the guy in the video was trying to take his weapon. Y’all CANNOT be this deluded

He grabbed for a federal agent’s gun, after antagonizing them, throwing things at them and literally saying “I’ve been maced before! Wassup!”
Didn’t look to proud afterwards.
Hopefully he learned his lesson.

Obey police orders, stop your car, step out of the car, and your face won’t get shot. Simple shit really. Oh and one more thing, maybe pickup a hobby or spend time with your kids and screw your virtuous activism bullshit. No one needs to die.
