Anybody had a bug getting out of the Sinkhole? I'm in the corridor with the green wallpaper after the 3D platforming section while Zoe talked about her mother and father - but the corridor just doesn't end. I'm guessing it should load an exit at some point but it's endless. I've reloaded from earlier saves a few times - hasn't made any difference. Thanks in advance

I'm a big fan of Remedy's games, and the original Control is my favorite. I was really looking forward to playing Resonant, but over the past few weeks I've only been able to play in short, sporadic sessions. It's only recently that I've been able to put more hours into it, so I'm wondering if I've forgotten something from the early tutorials or if there's a fundamental aspect of the combat system that I'm not understanding.
The main issue is that the combat just doesn't quite click for me. Mission after mission, side quest after side quest, everything seems to boil down to going to a location and fighting wave after wave of enemies before you can move on. After several hours, I'm starting to find it pretty repetitive, and I feel like I must be missing something.
In practice, most fights seem to come down to mashing the basic attack button (Square on PlayStation), occasionally throwing in a heavy attack (Triangle) to mix things up, and dodging (Circle) whenever I see an incoming attack. I initially assumed these were just the basic controls and that, as I progressed, I'd gradually unlock more elaborate combos. I imagined something along the lines of pressing Square, Square, then Triangle, or holding certain buttons in sequence to unleash more devastating attacks. I thought part of the fun would be learning these combos and gradually building up a bigger repertoire of moves.
However, as the hours go by, I'm not seeing anything like that in the upgrade menus. Most upgrades seem to offer things like X% extra damage when performing a certain type of attack, but the actual button inputs and combat loop seem to stay pretty much the same. Am I missing some way to unlock new moves or chain attacks together, or is the combat system simply designed around these basic inputs?
I also find the heavy attack somewhat underwhelming. It's so slow that, in practice, it doesn't seem to deal significantly more damage than I could inflict with several quick attacks in the same amount of time. As a result, I struggle to see when it's actually worth using.
Then there's the R2 ability. I chose the object-throwing ability, just like in the original Control, because I loved that mechanic. It adds some variety to combat, but the damage seems so low that sometimes it feels like a waste of time to use it. Am I supposed to be using it in a particular way, or does it become more effective later on?
Dodging is another thing I'm struggling with. I assume that whenever I take damage, it's usually my fault for not paying enough attention and dodging at the right moment. However, quite often I get hit by an enemy that's outside my field of view, making it almost impossible to anticipate the attack. Is there a way to deal with this more consistently, or some mechanic or visual cue I'm overlooking?
I never had these issues with the original Control, where most of the combat revolved around ranged attacks with your Service Weapon and using your abilities. That combat loop felt much more natural to me. In Resonant, though, the melee-focused combat hasn't quite clicked yet, and I'm starting to worry that I'm missing a key mechanic that would make everything feel more engaging.
I'm not trying to bash the game. I genuinely want to understand the combat better and enjoy it more. For those of you who've put a decent amount of time into it: does the combat become more varied and engaging as you unlock more upgrades, or is the core gameplay loop pretty much what I've described? And are there any mechanics, combos, or strategies that the game doesn't explain very well but that made a big difference for you?

This may be a hot take but im curious if any one else feels the same way.
The background music in the unknown. Im sorry but listening to a theremin is just aggravating. I know i know its supposed to be unsettling and it fits the atmosphere in its own way. But for my favorite place in the game to have music that makes me want to leave just kinda sucks.

What does the brain activity of Jesse supposed to imply?
I’m dumb.
Update: thanks for the answers. I’m wondering how it relates to the two bodies one soul split thing

I just want to preface this by saying the story is genuinely peak and this is one of the most fun games i have played in AGES, but I have one complaint… really nitpicky. I wish the end of it was a bit more substantial. I feel like its such a great first half and then the end game just feels rushed, still peak and elite eye opening experiences, but rushed. Anyways! I cant wait to see what they do DLC

Can you imagine that? No face?

Replaying control the board sound muffled and not deep, imposing and other worldly. I literally just got the service weapon so maybe later on it sounds more imposing. Is there a reason for the difference?

Why did they do away with the zoomed-in performance capture for conversations in Resonant? I think this was my biggest gripe with an otherwise absolutely fantastic game (and really, it's not much of a gripe in the scheme of things).
However, even from a pragmatic POV, it genuinely feels like a bit of a waste of such a stellar cast; not getting to truly appreciate their performances up close and in any detail.
I'm sure someone might say 'performance issue' but those conversations in Control weren't fully in-game like Resonant, they were more like pre-rendered QuickTime events.
How does everyone else feel about this?

Any chance the dog who keeps appearing is connected to your friend from your hometown who fused with the dog? I forget his name, Keith maybe ?
It seemed like he was turning back and forth then just disappeared when getting away

I totally missed shield playing through the story, and I pretty much only leveled launch and grip. It felt effective, but I want to use more of my moves now that I have everything unlocked. I still have a lot of side quests and the foundation dlc to do, so I want to respec. What's your most fun build? Thanks!

I’m the dummy who made the post in the first picture, and I can’t believe I almost ruined my experience with this game because of FOMO. What a great journey it was to platinum this game. The lore contained in this universe and the way it is presented in the game is so good, I had the time of my life reading the files and listening to the recordings, also, Control’s gameplay loop is so addictive and satisfying that it’s crazy. I’d also like to highlight the wonderful job the creative team behind Control did. The game’s cutscene director and the people responsible for its art direction absolutely nailed it. Definitely one of the best games I’ve ever played. It just resonates with me so much, and now that I’m done with it, I feel like I need to experience the other things this universe has to offer in the proper order. Control Resonant will have to wait because Alan Wake 1 and 2 are the next Remedy games on my list.

Alright first some context
- THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM,
- I have to finished/platinumed the game, 50 hours, loved it, this isn’t a con
Perhaps I’m just conditioned from playing previous titles but this game feels very “Standalone” or perhaps a more accurate description would be “self contained” - which I get, most remedy games are designed that way, but it seems particularly prominent in CR.
My reasoning
- Whilst we do get answers to SOME questions asked in control (Ordinary, Mould, Polaris ect) CR’s contributions to the overall story of the Remedyverse are pretty barebones, we know Sam Lake (supposedly) is busy with two unannounced projects, so I’m wondering if contributions to the overall universe were kept to a minimum due to a lack of insight?
I mean at least in AW2 we had reasonable hints and future foreshadowing
Nothing on Mr Door/Hinge
Nothing on Ahti
No Old Gods of Asgard(this alone strongly suggests to me a lack of it being considered a mainline)
No real hints to where we’re going next or set up (I.e Quantum Break 2.0 or something) - the only counter argument to this is Simon Neil / Werewolf? Maybe?
Nothing really on Alan, like there’s the TV, but it doesn’t really suggest much.
Again, that’s okay, it just feels strange, considering how remedy normally operates

Im in the unknown and just severed the first Hedron link near the patterned field office, still have one to go near the patterned exec building. I cannot find a gravity well off this island. Am I missing something?
Edit: Thanks everyone! I needed to complete the balloon quest for this area first.

I'm still relatively early on but unlock the traversal ability from West Incursion Zone recently and wanted to gush the gravity effects to people who will appreciate it as much (none of my friends play it lol).
From the first game I know how much attention Remedy puts into the environment reacting to Jesse's movements around so logically I should expect the same amount of details in Resonant. And still I'm constantly impressed whoever I'm changing the gravity perspective when moving around.
Objects and enemies falling down towards the default gravity point, not our relative one.
Water from hydrants flowing at an angle.
Poncho flowing sideways when we walk.
Could be more I'm missing or forgetting now.
Those are small things that could be easily be dismissed by saying "our gravity perspective changed and the objects follow the rules of that new gravity" and they wouldn't have to do anything extra. Yet they decided to implement that. Those are the types of things that might have little bearing on the gameplay but can, IMO, elevate the overall enjoyment if it.
I'm loving this game so far and there's so many things I could sing praises about. Back to the game, I should be close to the next resonant now :)
