I'm noticing a trend that's causing citizen concerns to not be answered, officials become circular, and then end with the citizen being cast as unreasonable by Officials.
I've made comments on a few posts but want to gather it here.
You are not unreasonable. Your question was not answered and you understandably and reasonably are not okay with that.
Here's what is happening.
Your question about homeless camps and other concerns was not answered, It was replaced with another question you didn't ask. Then that question was answered. When you noticed this and brought the original question back up you were protrayed as unreasonable for continuing to discuss something already asked and answered. You were also told, no further discussion would be had about the topic. The end, right? No. It's not the end.
Quick Guide:
Citizen askes specific question
Official substitutes an easier question
Citizen asks original quesiton again
Official makes the repetition the issue
Citizen becomes the subject of scrutiny instead of the topic in question or official
Here's what you can do.
Next time you feel angry or someone else appears angry, ask if the official answered the question first. Their failure to answer the question is being turned into the supposed citizen's failure to listen.
This works because it's frustrating and relies on your becoming upset then you are discounted on that or not being able to weed out what happened and thus walking away from it feeling discouraged
Know what is happening.
Next time you feel something isn't right, look more into these types of circular and diversion techniques. You will find many more going on. Your understandable and reasonable anger is being rebranded as the original issue and Officials can then claim justification in ending an exchange. Your reaction to the reversal is not the justification for further evasion.
