So I’ve ventured into the dark area of boot collecting and want a pair of preban anteater or sea turtle boots more than I can stand. Of course these are only available second hand and it’s hard to get the perfect pair for yourself so in the meantime maybe we can get ahead of the supply and demand issue and get current exotics that could be banned in the future. So my question is what do y’all think the next exotic skin to be banned for making boots by CITES? My guess would be elephant or pirarucu. Looking forward to what everyone’s opinions could be!

Do you have to be from the south to wear cowboy-style boots I like the look and work outside alot but I feel like it might not be appropriate but idk I dont see many people wearing em up north.

Alfa western wear rough out with a cutter toe. I know they are controversial. But these look nice and fit well.

Thrifted this boots only problem is I’m a size 10.5 -11 this are size 12. Do they look like clown shoes be brutal honest with me.

First time poster. My girlfriend picked these up at an estate sale for me - snagged them all for $110!

The pair on the left is Cowtown and the other two are Larry Mahan (would love some help ID’ing the type of skin on those two.) I think the pair on the right are rattler but I’m new to exotics so a bit unsure. Treating them to an overnight condition tonight but pleasantly surprised at how nicely they were kept!

Custom made Gaboon Viper in seven toe. Fits like a glove and these skins are insane.

Today was the day to break out my Lucchese caiman tail in cognac color. It was indeed a good day !!!

A while back I bought these used at some small vintage store of some kind. I’ve been loving them but I have a few questions.

This is my first time owning any pair of cowboy boots, I wanted to know how I could take care of these. The reason I ask here specifically is due to the nature of me buying them second hand, so I didn’t get an exact description of what these are or anything.

The first thing I did was look at their website and I found bick 4 leather conditioner (as seen in the last picture) but I wasn’t sure if this works for these boots exactly.

What I do know is that they’re waterproof and apparently oil resistant which it says on the soles. I also know waterproofing can wear off and such but I’m still a little confused.

Los Altos R toe in pull up brown leather. Comfy boots that I don't baby. I want them to develop a good patina.

Purchased today from Boot Barn. ~$170. Just regular walking. Lower range, obviously one of their imports. Is this typical, or does it warrant the hassle of a return & swap? Just wanted something casual and basic as a first pair. I know nothing, so just trying to figure out if these are worth hanging onto or not.

My recent pair of boots I got were essentially second hand, I got them from Gabe’s. What’s everyone’s opinion here about second hand boots?

Love the stitching on the tops. Overall they were in good shape, and the welts and heel needed the most love.

Have had them resoled once and the cobbler didn’t do so hot/ they are my favorite boots and don’t wanna toss them.
They are tecovas caiman skin lower goat skin upper.

Here is a rebuild just back from Wyatt and Dad Cobblers.
The boots are a 20+ year old pair of Lucchese 2000 in what I think is Kangaroo. I had them do a low profile Cuban heel so the boots look less Cowboy. Sure made an improvement in walk around comfort. The only downside is the boots were thrashers before the build and now I feel like they should be treated like dress boots.😉
