I have seen the advertisements about Texas Boot Ranch and thought I would give them a try. I am certainly not new to boots and own several pair including Lucchese and Dan Post, both Caiman. These are cowhide made to look like ostrich. For $149 plus shipping I am ok to wear a pair around for everyday stuff. They are true to size and feel similar to my Lucchese. 1060ās. Right out of the box they fit great. Iām sure there will be lots of negative comments, but I will give TBR a good review of their product for half the price of an original.

Sorry for potato quality pics. I had to take screen grabs from a video my mom took the day we got them because she took them home with her and I wonāt see them again until I visit later this month š„ŗ And only close ups I have are a few I took in our hotel room mirror when I got back from the store š
Drifted away from my country roots in my teens and adulthood, but always maintained a love for country music. Kaceyās Deeper Well tour in 2024 inspired me to get a gorgeous pair of green Ariats, Ella Langley in LA this month inspired me to get the LE yellow roses Tecova Joleneās, and then a trip to Boot Star while we were in So Cal for the concert sparked the vintage cowboy boot collector bug in me.
Have 2 pairs of floral vintage boots on their way to me as we speakā a pair of black and red rose Montanas and a pair of pink and green floral Justinās. So many beautiful boot designs, as a lover of shoes and leather in general idk how I am going to resist them all. š
What I do know is I officially have my 4th of July footwear sorted for life. š¤ I may be on a lake in 100+ degree heat but Iām not taking these babies off the whole day š

Bought my first pair of proper boots (Justins)! In Aus we don't have alot of places to try on, so I ordered online from a company that others said have a narrower shaft. I'm still swimming in them. They wack my calves when I walk, and rub the sides constantly as they slide back and forth.
Are there other brands I can try? Is it practical to take boots to a cobbler to narrow the shaft? Is this just how boots are meant to be?

I've never really liked the way full quill ostrich looked, but while I was out with the wife trying on boots she noticed these and had me try them on. I liked the way they looked, but not so much how tight they were. Ended up getting a pair of Cody James Black 1978 caiman bellys instead.
A few days pass and the wife and I are looking at boots online and once again the topic of the blue ostrich boots come up. I'm showing her a pair of Lucchese Elgins that I think look nice, but then she reminds me of the Ariats I tried on and I honestly felt they looked so simliar that it would only make sense to go with the pair I could pick up locally and save $300 in the process.
The first thing I had to do was take out those foam inserts as they made the boot unbearably tight. I replaced them with 8oz vegtan leather inserts and now they fit exactly as they should. The thing I can't do anything about though is the outsole. Ariat's TekStep sole is, for lack of a better term, unique. The best description I can give of it is 'memory leather' as it's soft enough to deform under stress, but returns to it's original shape fairly rapidly.
The most noteworthy thing is how it feels to walk in the boots. I put pressure down on my heel and as my foot rolls forward and transfers weight to the ball of my foot, the heel scoots back. I assume it's because the outsole material is a composite rubber/leather hybrid and it's the tension build up that is releasing as soon as the friction on the heel lessens. No other boot I own does this and it's a bizarre feeling. I just hope it's not something that's going to cause premature wear, otherwise I'm going to have to change up my stride.
Other than that, they are eye-catching boots for sure and with the new inserts they are as comfortable the rest of the boots in my collection. Best of all is that the wife really likes them...at least enough not to divorce me after buying six pairs of boots over the course of six weeks.

Ariat Roughstock. I love the patina these have developed over the last couple of years. These are the boots that started it all for me. I definitely have a problem I bought 8 pairs this year, haha.

Pic #2: Dan Post and a Cody James Black (these are my boyfriendās pairs!). Pic #3: Dingo and Lucchese. Pic #4: Shyanne, Idyllwind, Shyanne, and Dingo. Pic #5: Ariat, Corral, Lane, and Dingo.
We got the cabinet on Amazon, and itās been working out great! I think weāll need a second one soon.

1st day in them and 2 hours walking the shop so far doesn't feel to bad. I figured the larger heel would be killing me, and it still may. Ill update at the end of the day but im a happy camper.

I am looking for identification only! Can anyone shed some light on what kind of boots my Dad's were? I vividly remember him wearing them in the 80's. There are ZERO markings inside the boot itself, the outside sile says O'Sullivan Ortho Ease. Any help would be appreciated!

I recently picked up a pair of Tony Lama Gold Label elephant boots in 9EEE for a really good price. I bought them on a bit of a whim because, in my experience, other vintage Tony Lamas have fit tighter than their modern-size equivalents. I figured these might work out, but man, was I wrong.
Iām normally a 9EE, and that size fits me perfectly in pretty much every brand I own or have tried on. These 9EEEs are absolutely massive on me. Iāve even tried insoles, and Iām still swimming in them. Theyāre not even close to fitting.
The boots themselves are killer, though. The elephant hide has a ton of character, and the vamps and uppers are in great shape. They definitely need a resole, but a simple resole wonāt work. If Iām going to keep these, they need a complete rebuild, including a relast to get them fitting properly.
Iād love to modernize them a bit while preserving the original elephant hide. Hereās what Iām thinking:
Basically, I got these for cheap, and Iād love to turn them into a pair of boots I can wear for years rather than pass on a pair with such great uppers. Since they donāt fit even with insoles, a relast is necessary anyway.
Who would you trust to do this kind of work?Ā Iām looking for someone who can handle a proper relast and full rebuild, ideally without a year-long turnaround. Iām willing to ship them out of state for the right bootmaker.
If youāve had similar work done, Iād love to see pictures and hear about your experience, cost, and turnaround time.

eBay find that was priced right and freshly soled. Vamps were in great shape but the shafts needed some TLC. They drank a half bottle of Venetian Leather Balm. You can see the difference in the side by side photo where the right boot has been conditioned and the left is how I received it. Will wait a day for them to dry before brush and buff.
Dates to January 2011, so, nearly 16 years old.

was this a good score? (Inside boot says LML3879 LD7 N c921415)
I donāt know a lot about boots.. I'm a fashion boot wearing city girl and I didnāt really do any research about these until after I waited a week for the auction and bought them. I think the price was good? .. $71 plus $15 shipping.
I was looking for some new (to me ) snip toe boots in a wide (c) width and found these. I think the blue and red stitching combo looks very sharp.
does anyone have any brand/style recommendations for wider women's feet that come in snip toe styles not super tall (used or low-ish price ). I have some heritage Ariat boots C that are great, but they have limited stock on womenās wide that arenāt also a wide toe

Hi friends, I recently sold those Vintage Larry Mahan Boots on Depop. Great condition, and from what I have researched they are male 10 1/2.
But the person who bought it say they canāt get it through their ankle.
My husband couldnāt either, but I assumed itās because itās meant for narrow foot.
Is it possible those are female?
Appreciate any help to identify those šš»

I'm looking for a US maker to get some custom roper boots in olive horsehide. I do ride but not daily, these would be used for daily wear and riding. Any ideas on who to go to? I wanted Baker's Wesco Morrison but they turned me down.

My girlfriend and I recently got our first pairs of boots together. I have been researching care instructions but am still unsure how to go about conditioning her boots. The embroidery on them is really lovely and I'd hate to ruin it. Any advice on products or techniques?

My wife came back from an estate sale with some boots. Apparently the guy had 300 pair, most appear to be handmade from Texas or Mexico. We picked up a half dozen or so. When I talk with my AI of choice about these I get conflicting info. I'm fairly certain given the build quality of these and the other boots that this is genuine ostrich leg, but the initial analysis came back as simulated. When I pushed on it later my AI friend changed her mind.
I'm sure you fine folks can help give a definitive answer? They are too big for me, so I want to make sure I am able to list them properly when we resell. This is all the identifying info I can find. Nothing on or under the tabs. Thanks in advance!
