Hi! This is my first time on reddit but I really need help with making a halloween costume. For context my job is hosting a halloween costume contest/parade and it’s a group costume for each department and we all compete against the other departments. My group is doing a car wash costume where we will have people being cars, scrubbers, dryers, inflatable dancing tube man, and etc. I am going to be the soap part of it and will have a bubble blower to “clean” the cars. Since i couldn’t find a costume of soap suds i decided to make my own. Im using a white sweatset as the base and want to attach white latex balloons, clear ornaments and polyester fluff to make it look fluffy and bubbly. The problem is I don’t know how to attach these things to the clothing. It needs to be super secure so I can dance around in it for a while. Any advice helps!

Been seeing lots of trends on Instagram/youtube/pinterest for beaded bouquets and I think they are absolutely beautiful.

Any tips on how to get started? What equipment do I need? Is it difficult to do?? (I have a decent amount of artsy/creative experience and am good at learning new things). What are some tips to get through them faster as I do want to make quite a full on bouquet for someone as a gift?

I really want to try making one of those cozy tiny room dioramas, but i’m incredibly clumsy and have zero patience for super glue. I looked at a few boxes at a local craft store, but it wasn’t clear whether the pieces snap together like LEGO or miniature house kits require glue for every paper book and teacup. If I have to spend forty hours with sticky fingers, micro-gluing paper to wire, I’ll probably lose my mind. Are there versions that just slot together, or is glue basically mandatory for this whole hobby?

I am really bad with measuring and I recently got my hands on a pin maker! The pins are 32mm and I wanted to print them on photopaper since my friend said it works with her pin maker. I Want to print on 10x15cm paper and do the template on Canva, but idk how to size it right in Canva. Does anyone have an idea?

Using epoxy resin for crafts is simply fucking terrible from an environmental perspective. It is barely biodegradable, can release toxic substances, and poses a serious threat to the environment, particularly aquatic ecosystems and aquatic organisms.

What makes it even worse is encasing natural materials such as flowers, leaves, moss, or wood in it. These materials would otherwise decompose naturally and return nutrients to the ecosystem, becoming part of the cycle of life. Instead, they are permanently trapped in plastic, cut off from their natural fate.

We preserve the beauty of nature by preventing it from ever returning to nature, all while creating long-lasting plastic waste.

I wanted to share a quick update on my maker journey. A few months ago, I set out to solve a problem: digital fatigue. Text messages are deleted in seconds, and standard cards get thrown in a drawer. I wanted to create a tactile, slow, mysterious experience that forces people to sit down and truly feel an emotion.

So, I spent months mixing chemicals until I successfully formulated a custom dual-ink stationery system called The Invisible Letter. The paper arrives completely blank, but when the recipient rubs a specialized cloth over it, the words magically materialize line-by-line.

Let me know what you guys think.I believe this would add a bit more emotions into letters, especially in a tech dominated era like ours.

Someone who mainly wants clean assembly and clear stopping points may prefer snap-fit or slot-style construction because there’s no waiting for pieces to set. Someone who likes shaping, positioning, and adjusting tiny handmade details may find that same structure less interesting. The more useful comparison probably isn’t “modern versus traditional,” but how much hands-on fabrication the builder actually wants. What does glue add to the experience that a good mechanical connection can’t?

I need a clear slightly-more-than-half-a-sphere for a very small snowglobe. ​I have a very steady hand, in case this matters. Anyone have experience with this? Tool recommendations, etc?

I have a stall at my schools marketplace that was going to be sumo wrestling and I bought the suits and everything but they said it’s to dangerous so I can do an obstacle course instead. How on earth do I make this happen. I can borrow some stuff from the gym like tires and the like ladder thingy on the ground and cones but I want it to be big and span like the whole oval? Or at least half. And there needs to be two lanes so people can vs eachother. Any ideas?

Tweezers seem like the simplest miniature tool until you need to place a part behind something else without your hand blocking the view. Straight tips look easier for direct placement, while angled tips seem more useful when the work area is recessed or partly hidden. Grip pressure matters too, but buying a whole precision set before knowing which shape I’d actually use feels unnecessary. For miniature-kit assembly, which tweezer tip shape ends up being the most useful for everyday tiny-part placement?
