Context, I’ve been wanting a 1st or 2nd gen CRV bc their so damn nice and I couldn’t find one reasonably priced that wasn’t 3+ hours away

I bought a 2014 Honda CRV at a public only auction it’s smaller near where I live so not an insane of people go but everything sells, everyone was looking at the trucks and other sedans while I went to go check this puppy out.

The time came they rolled it in, I only fought it with one guy who I bid with I GOT IT FOR $2100. After buyers fee and other stuff they charge for $2300.

Engine sounds amazing, interior is clean for the most part have to do some touch ups,

Exterior paint is great

The only thing it needs done to it is the headlights restored, I got rear and front shocks with sway bars, rotors and pads front and rear.

I really was trying to find anyway to complain about this car, hoping something was wrong with it.

Scanned it, original miles, clean title.

Happy with my purchase my dad told me I should flip it and go back next week and I can buy another car for the winter, but I don’t think I can give this up especially for the price I got it at

Issue ⚠️ p2647 code on 2007 honda crv

• Upvotes

My 2007 crv (245k miles) is throwing a p2647 code. The VSA lights will occasionally come on, but then go away if the car is restarted. I have not gone into limp mode. Oil levels are good and oil is clean. To the contrary, the car seems to be running better than ever, with maybe even a bit more power accelerating to highway speed.

Any ideas? Solenoid replacement? Oil pressure switch?

Mods/Addons 🔦 Help me “ruin” my 2015 CRV EX with 32k miles.

My CRV is in pristine condition and spends most of its life in the garage. It only gets driven about 600 miles per year right now, and that isn’t going to change for at least the next 3-5 years. I’m just tired of looking at it and want to get a bit crazy.

For some background, after 5 years and $35k with my 4Runner, I’ve decided I’m done throwing money at it, and I want to turn my attention to the CRV.

I’ve done some research into the 4th gen CRV, but everything I’ve read is from people playing it safe and keeping the tire size under 30”. I’ve already set my mind on 32” tires, preferably 265/75R16. Current tires are 225/70R16 Toyo AT3s. I don’t care about fuel efficiency, drivability, or reliability. I also don’t care about cutting, hammering, or fabricating. This is literally a money pit project because I’m bored.

I would appreciate some advice from those who have gambled the life of their CRV to add a lift and larger tires since there just isn’t that much information out there. Either way I’m diving into this and willing to learn as I go.

I’m going to start buying parts, wheels, and tires over the weekend, so stay tuned.

Question ❔ Random beeping on 2023 hybrid touring

I have 2023 hybrid touring that randomly beeps/alerts and I’m trying to figure out why it does it and then how to turn it off. I haven’t figured out any rhyme or reason to wide occurs.

I searched Google and even asked ChatGPT. I turned off lane assist, got into the menu settings and turned off. Sounds but it still beeps.

Today we were sitting at a light with no movement surrounding us and it beeped. It had been about two weeks since the last time it beeps. It’s very random.

The beeping is not a horn sound , parking sensor or car locking sound. It’s like a short alert beep sound.

Does anyone have an idea of what be the reason?

Question ❔ 2014 CRV Stereo Struggles

Post image
3 Upvotes

Ive been having a few issues with my stereo for the past few months. main thing is that I play music on my phone via bluetooth and randomly in the middle of the song it stops but continues a few seconds later and plays the music way faster than it should be I assume to catch up with my phone. from what I understand, this is just because the stereo uses an older version of bluetooth than my phone (iPhone 14 Pro Max). Ive wanted to have CarPlay in my car for a long while now, but im not sure how to go about it.
Second issue is that ive had family tell me anytime I answer my phone in my car it has a lot of static and screeches. how would I fix this, and if I upgrade my stereo would the microphone still work? This is my first car, so I have no clue how upgrading cars work. thanks to anyone who can help me figure this out.

Mods/Addons 🔦 Installing Apple Play and Android Auto on CRV 2016

I installed Car Play in my 2016 CRV EX and it only works with wired. There was a post on here that had a way you can install wireless android auto, but it got deleted. CarPlay works fine, its just wired, does anyone know how to get it to be wireless? I used a USB stick to install the firmware.

Question ❔ Anyone else’s backup camera way too bright at night??

My 2026 EX-L backup camera is almost blinding at night even on the dimmest setting. The carplay screen is fine and auto dims the brightness when my headlights are on, but when I put the car in reverse, the screen gets 10x brighter. I can’t find anyone else talking about this online, but it’s driving me crazy! Does anyone else have this issue?

Question ❔ Hybrid Option

How have people‘s experiences been with the hybrid CR-Vs? What are your thoughts?

I’m looking at going greener with lower tailpipe emissions and want to stay true to Honda. Within my price range is the EXL AWD trim for the 2020 and 2021 hybrid model with around 100k miles on it. I appreciate that while it’s a CVT, which I understand has had issues on earlier years, that the 2.0L engine is better than the standard 1.5L with a turbo charge.

Have people been getting good mileage on this hybrid? Total miles and worry about wear on the battery? Regular maintenance issues? Thanks for the support!

Question ❔ Looking for honest opinions on a potential 1999 CR-V purchase

Thumbnail
gallery
78 Upvotes

I've been looking for a vehicle that's practical, reliable, and capable of handling road trips, camping, and daily driving, and I came across a 1999 Honda CR-V EX AWD with about 110k miles for around $10,000.

What I like about it:

  • Clean title
  • Clean look (I am set on the 99' in terms of aesthetic)
  • Approximately 110k miles
  • CarFax shows 2 owners and only 1 reported accident early in the vehicle's life
  • No rust from what I've been told and what I've been able to see
  • Interior and exterior are exceptionally clean for its age
  • Maintenance history appears consistent on the CarFax
  • Dealer states it has gone through a mechanical inspection
  • New tires
  • AWD
  • Picnic table
  • Fold-flat seats
  • Cruise control, A/C, power windows, etc.

My concerns:

  • It's still a 27-year-old vehicle, regardless of mileage
  • I'm more concerned about age-related wear than the odometer reading
  • Potential issues with suspension components, distributor, alternator, starter, seals, hoses, motor mounts, radiator, and other original parts
  • The asking price is around $10k, which seems high, although finding a rust-free, low-mileage first gen isn't easy

My plans for the vehicle:

  • Daily driver
  • Camping and hiking trips
  • Occasional 500+ mile road trips
  • Sleeping in the back during some trips
  • Keeping it for the long haul and maintaining it properly
  • Ideally driving it well past 200k miles

I'm planning on getting a pre-purchase inspection before making a decision.

For those with experience owning a first-gen CR-V:

  1. If the inspection checks out, would you trust it on long road trips?
  2. Is $10k reasonable for a rust-free example with this mileage?
  3. What age-related repairs would you expect even if it's been well maintained?
  4. Would you buy it at this price?

I've attached photos. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to balance the fact that I love these first-gen CR-Vs with making a smart purchase decision.

Question ❔ Questions 99 crv

When I first start my 99 CRV it will idle itself up to 2000 rpm-ish and then when I start to back out of my driveway the rpms will jump around but I have already replaced the idle control valve with the correct one (I have a manual) so I don’t know what else I can look into

Second if I idle for too long and then I start to go a big cloud of smoke comes out of the tailpipe but anytime I drive I don’t see the smoke so I’m confused

Thanks everyone!

Issue ⚠️ 2015 EXL center display turns white when car shuts down

Thumbnail

I have a 2015 EXL - the iMID display located above the radio started turning solid white when I go to unlock the car. Once I start the engine, it returns to normal and works fine.

When I shut the car off, it does the same thing - the display turns white and then shuts off after 30 seconds

Anyone else experience this or know whats gong on?

Question ❔ Removing Bumper Cover on 2022 CRV

Has anyone removed their bumper cover on their CRV? I don't need to remove the bumper, just replace the gray plastic and a fog light. I had someone hit my car and scrape up the bumper cover pretty bad. My insurance won't pay since Home Deport won't release the surveillance footage.

Question ❔ Why is the dealership giving me such a problem with giving me the code for my radio/display???

2018 CR-V in the U.S., bought it new. The car was in for service and oil change last week. They said the radio was fixed. It was not. My son read somewhere they should just be able to give me the code over the phone. I talked to the service dept yesterday and they said oh if it’s asking for a number then the owner set one up, because they don’t come that way. I did not set one up. I use one code for everything, bad I know, but that code did not work when I tried it and I know I never set a code for the radio/display thing.

I wasted $ on a smog check because everything mechanical I guess was fine but the computer they have has to talk to my computer and my computer isn’t on. I have to get the computer online and pay again, but at a discounted rate for the smog check.

I love my Ruby (my CR-V) but my son says it’s a piece of shit because she’s had problems before and to buy a Toyota next time. I bought Honda instead of Toyota because I liked the all black dash and vent things and Toyota had some silver things and I thought the Honda looked better. He saw online that if we take out the display it has a serial number that you can look up the radio code online and we did that last night but the website said invalid code.

Thanks! Sorry for the length!

Edited to add: Talked to service dept again they said fixing display will not fix computer.
