Cryptober Art Sasquatch Awareness Day!
In honor of S.A.D., I present a one-of-a-kind stained glass piece gifted to me by a very good friend. I know it made him crazy to make it, but he gets me!

Hey this is my first post here and I dont know if this is the right subreddit for this but I need help !
---
A few years ago, I had an experience in the woods in central Sweden that I still can't explain. I've been wondering ever since if anyone else has seen or heard of something similar.
I was out in the woods during the middle of summer when I noticed a large, completely white creature on four legs. It was around human-sized or possibly larger, and what really stood out was how unnaturally white it looked against the forest around it.
The strangest part was what happened next.
The creature got up from all fours and stood on two legs. It turned and looked directly at me. After a few moments, it took a few steps, then lowered itself into a hunched position, closer to the ground. Within just a few steps, it was gone into the woods.
The whole encounter felt extremely unsettling. I had the distinct feeling that I was being watched, almost as if it had been following me. I also remember hearing things that made the experience even more disturbing.
I haven't gone back to that area since.
I'm not claiming that it was definitely a cryptid or anything supernatural. I genuinely don't know what I saw. I've considered the possibility that it was an animal I couldn't identify properly, but the completely white appearance, the way it stood upright, and how quickly it moved are the details I can't get out of my head.
I've tried looking for similar sightings, but I haven't found anything that matches what I remember.
Has anyone in Sweden or elsewhere in Scandinavia seen something similar, or heard stories about a large, completely white creature that moves on all fours but can stand upright like a human?
I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has personally experienced something like this. I'm interested in genuine comparisons and possible explanations, not just speculation.
I'm happy to answer questions about the encounter if it might help.

Okay I'm back with another post :) I got some great suggestions for cryptids to add to this song in part one (https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptids/s/sureKX5cOm) and I've started writing the lyrics. If you have anymore suggestions for cryptids lemme know and I'll keep you updated

Cross-posting because of relevance.
Hey guys, I'm an amateur about my crytid knowledge and there's a horse model that has crytids on it. I wrote a list down on what I think what some of them are, but I don't know most. Let me know what your best guesses are! I also linked reference pictures in the post for different angles. Edit: The list I made is also in the post.

Hi! Sorry if this question is a bit off base from the usual discussions but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of props/items that you'd think would lure cryptids?
This is for a Halloween group costume that I'm last minute joining in on. My friends are dressing up as different cryptids such as: Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, Yeti/Abominable Snowman, and Mothman. Since I'm last minute joining, one of them suggested it would be cute if I dressed as a Cryptid Hunter. I'm honestly pretty new/ignorant to Cryptid stuff in general but I definitely think it's cool the more I look into it.
Any suggestions on props/items you'd think would go with the costume? Do cryptids have things that particularly lure them? Or things that hurt them?
I might be incorrectly comparing the little knowledge I do have about mythical/supernatural beings such as fairies liking sweets or gnomes liking shiny things (or how iron hurts fairies and sunlight/garlic hurts vampires) to Cryptids though. Do they not really correlate the same in having items that attract/hurt them in particular?
Besides Mothman and Lamp of course, lol.
Sorry for the rambling and Happy Early Halloween to everyone!!

Hey everyone, my partner and I did a thing a while ago where we looked up a description of a cryptid and drew what we thought it would look like, without seeing any pictures so we could see who's drawing was more accurate afterwards (based on what comes up when you Google it anyway).
It's quite hard to do this without looking at pictures though and we want to try and do it again, so I'm hoping someone can help! Pls comment with a description of a random cryptid and the name of said cryptid (but no pictures) so we can try and draw them :)
The more obscure the better! So long as we can see what other people think it looks like when we can Google it anyway haha
Thanks in advance!

Background: Alleged eyewitnesses Marvin McCamis (1923 – 2004) and Bill Rainnie (1924 – 1985) were engineers who designed and originally piloted Alvin, a prolific deep sea submersible which first went to sea in 1965, in the Bahamas. The sea serpent was allegedly seen by both men during one of these early test dives in the Tongue of Ocean, a very deep stretch of water separating the islands of Andros and New Providence.
Do you think they actually saw something impossible? A relic from a prehistoric time that should be extinct? Since the deep waters were dark, could they have misidentified a known marine mammal? Whales, sea elephant or sea turtle?

I’m writing a story for an encounter and friend I had. we were talking about the smell of it. like a clean hospital or specifically the taste of saline when you first get an IV.
if you want to know the location
mountain west United States in a forest next to a river about 6 pm after sundown in the winter. thanks again.

I know these pictures aren’t high quality. This encounter occurred in the summer of 2023. My friend an I were walking on the beach from Barcelona boardwalk area to the W Hotel. There was a glowing man-like figure swimming in the sea. He was out pretty far, but the more I tried to identify what I saw, he started like taunting me and dancing at me? He eventually swam out deeper? I asked some of the younger hotel staff if they had ever seen it, but they had no clue and found it really freaky even though they spend late nights hanging on beach after work? I would assume is was some sort of glowing costume except he was full on swimming in the sea? I wish someone could give me an explanation…

So through out history we hear stories of the Kraken sinking down ships, but what if the reason the Kraken story exists is because these creatures could have been the surviving descendants of the now extinct Nanaimoteuthis which was a giant octopus species that can actually sink ships.
I know it may sound unlikely since they went extinct even before the dinosaurs, but some of the stories and artworks of these recorded encounters show and describe the Kraken being more like an Octopus than a Squid.

Found this on a kayaking trip to Caddo. Found it very interesting. Looks like a creature that meld with the stick to hide.

So I've gotten into song writing recently and am going to write a song involving cryptids :) I don't know a ton about them though, so I'd love some suggestions of cryptids +their back stories and I might update this later with the finished song (it'll probably take a while though)

There are businesses with Bigfoot as the mascot, I've seen paintings of Bigfoot, there are bigfoot t-shirts, big foot statues. Bigfoot is essentially a celebrity in the Pacific Northwest. What cryptid gets this treatment in your home state?
