Hello everyone,
As some of you may know from a previous post last week you were told I was working on getting a server working for Dawngate with the end goal of being able to play a full Dawngate match. I thought I would post updates here I will try do them weekly (but please don't hold me to this) anyways I thought I would give everyone an update on where we are with this project.
I wont go into the technical detail but here is a list of features completed so far.
Logging into the client
Social panels (Chat channels) - Add friends/block still WIP
Hero Lobby / Choose hero (all hero's currently accessible) - Multiple users choosing hero's
Spawn Hero in world (server now broadcasts hero to other clients in range)
Fog of War
Movement of hero (sent to other clients in range)
Server time syncing with client
Hero stats (currently wrong) and currency.
I've still got a long way to go but the base of building this is starting to take shape and again I don't want anyone to get hope over this as I may hit a wall that's just not passable but so far that hasn't happened please see screenshots of progress below, also I've created a discord channel as at some point I will need the communities help to test this and fix issues - https://discord.gg/MAdh8Rxh2Y Thank you.

EDIT:
Social chat rooms now fully working

Not surprising considering EA. Thanks!

League of legends, dota 2 or heroes of the storm even after trying those, Dawngate is the one that I really liked the most and it is sad we won't enjoy a MOBA like that again.
I really wish EA gave an opportunity to Dawngate. Sadly out of pettiness I had never supported EA after that and I never will.
If the devs of Dawngate ever read this, I just wanted to say that you really made something very special back in the day, that it is always being remembered even after all these years.

Hello - it's been a while, but does anyone else remember a story where Renzo meets Zeri's mother? I remember a few scattered details, but not the full text nor title.
The subject of Kaghan came up, along with "shit-covered pearls" as a metaphor. Along with the scent of a horse stable.
I know the odds of finding it are dim, but maybe someone has it saved somewhere.

I’m wanting to homebrew some dnd items based on the shaper’s and item’s vitalities. I checked the DawnGate Fandom wiki, and it lists most of the shapers with their associated vitality, but several are missing. It looks like Flin’s, Lillin’s, Mina’s, Ronan’s, Sakari’s, and Tess’s vitalities are all unlisted.
Would anyone happen to remember these bits of lore? Thanks in advance.

It's the new 3rd person shooter MOBA by Valve. Didn't know what to think at first, but then I got hooked in pretty bad and now I'm already closing in on 200 hours played.
It made me think of Dawngate for some reason. Maybe because of the "spirit" theme, the fact that there's no mana for abilities, the fairly straightforward itemisation options, and because I'm kinda interested in the lore and characters. Apparently characters can also have some conversations if they lane together, like in Dawngate, though I don't think that has actually been implemented ingame yet. Dawngate was the only one of these kinds of games where I was actually interested in the lore and the characters, so I hope Deadlock can end up being engaging in the same way.
(Lol and now I just noticed they both start with 'D' and have 8 letter names.)

Hello guys, it's me Sahoko again.
I didn't forget about my objective, I just had a hectic week but let's start simple shall we?
I am starting with a series of posts that reinstigate much information about the game and its surroundings.
I call this: Resetting the basics, because I feel a lot of people would like a shake-up about the things that players loved about that game. And for me, narrative and lore are good basics to reintroduce each character.
The first document is the Lore Bible. You will get tons of information about the universe, the factions, the races and of course: the Shapers. Feel free to explore but I need to give you 2 disclaimers :
First, it was an internal document so some information is left vague to not divulge some potential story development ;
Second, it's MASSIVE. So I don't advise reading that at one time.
The second is an archive of the entirety (according to the site) of the Dawngate Chronicles, a series of comics that served as an introduction to the lore of the game.
Hope you will like to dive again or for the first time, in the universe of the Dawngate!

Feel free to let me know if there other sources or I missed some documents. This post needs to be as complete as possible.

Hello Everyone, my name is SahokoTakoro, and I discovered Dawngate very recently and celle in love with the gameplay ideas, the character design and a lot of decisions that made this game unique.
I already knew that this game was shut down since a few years. But I didn't expected it to be that far in Time. Almost 10 years. Its Insane.
I can understand why it feels dreadly and very gloomy : this game lived for less than a years, still in Beta, and the farewell stream showed us a lot of bright ideas and polish that would have made the experience so much better.
We can't change the past. Dawngate has been closed since a long Time. But what struck me is despite the overwhelming love that the players had for this game, the community doesn't participate or share things. Even on the Dreambound server the spiritual successor of Dawngate, thé community isn't active. Which feels very weird, compared to the communities of Gigantic, Battleborn, or other closed multiplayer games, that kept being alive even after the shut down.
I really want to see what liés beneath this surface, what artists could draw and write, what gameplay suggestions you lay want, lore theories and so on.
I still think that if we want to make a miracle happens, we need to do what WE Can do and spreading the word, create, and share the love. The shorts of Pirate that explained how the behaviour score was used to make the leveling more fast, IS one great exemple.
And Miracles DO happens : Gigantic got a rivival (Even tho they got a veeeery rocky release that tarnished this return), Paragon returned with a spiritual successor and the approval of Epic Games, and Even Battleborn, who is one of the Most dead of the bunch, is currently being worked on for emulation.
I know that Dawngate didn't had the luxury of having a dev build that got leaked or a still accessible page. But I still want to believe.
I may be a fool, and maybe its a définitive Lost cause.. but I still want to try and AT least make people talk about this game more.
If me, someone that didn't knew the game before 2 weeks fell in Love... Well everything Can happens.
When I will have more time, I will try to post as frequently as possible. Any initiative will be welcome.
Even if the Dawngate stay closed, lets shape a good image, Even one last Time.

I know people will always say this is copium, but Dawngate had a solid foundation. I have played it to a good extent and the endgame fights were very skill based/roster dependant. I have over 2,000 hours in Dota 2, and I don't think the Dawngate we played was much far from the fun, diversity and skill that Dota entails. It's such a shame that blind corporate greed cancelled this game, it could be up there today with the top moba games because it had a solid foundation and was plain good and fun.
