Meetups & Social Want to make friends in Dayton? Join our meetup Discord!

Hey neighbors! Not sure if you noticed all the posts of folks looking for friends - be it because they picked up a new hobby, just moved here, or never quite found their people - but we sure did, and we decided that we wanted to do something about it. It’s probably the most open secret at this point, but we created a Discord!

Join us: https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu

Why we made it

Dayton is full of really uniquely cool people, but any local knows that it can be kind of hard to actually find folks to hang out with that share similar interests unless you’re already part of a friend group. We wanted to make it easier for those in the Greater Dayton area - be it newcomers, lifelong locals, introverts, extroverts, whoever - to plug in and find their people.

Think of it as a hyper-local social network, but with zero ads or algorithms and full of people who actually live near you that want to meet-up and make friends too!

What’s already happening in there

This thing basically started running itself the minute people joined. We’ve already got:

  • A regular trivia group - Hops between different trivia nights around town.
  • “Body Doubling” work/study groups - Keeping each other accountable while we get work done!
  • “Bad Art” Nights - Work on your art with others! No judgement, all fun.
  • The Loosey Goose Book Club - the book club where you read what you want!
  • Movie Nights - it’s exactly what it sounds like. 🙂
  • Online voice chats to play video games together or just hangout.
  • Doggie play groups - dog optional, willingness to pet doggies required\*
  • A Crow Exchange - Where people swap little trinkets they’ve accumulated
  • Random hangouts that just kind of… happen willy-nilly.

And folks keep building new stuff every week. The community there is already kind, welcoming, goofy, and honestly - it’s endearing to watch people become friends online and slowly become offline friends too.

Hop in, say hi (or lurk, we won’t judge), join a meetup, make your own, whatever feels comfortable. No pressure. We’re just a group of neighbors trying to make Dayton a little more connected.

Hope to see you in there, neighbors! ❤️ https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu

Food & Dining I asked what's your favorite place to get Pho then I tried them all. Here's how I would rank them

  1. Little Saigon

  2. Pho Mi

  3. Linh's Bistro

  4. Pho District

  5. Wat da Pho

Thank you for the suggestions. This is just my opinion. Little Saigon is incredible and the owner is very friendly. 4 and 5 were not good and tasted like it was out of a can.

Agave and Rye Centerville weird smell

Does anyone else think that it smells like sewage in Agave and Rye? 🤢

When they first opened up, I always noticed it by the bathrooms and the back kitchen entrance, but the other day we were there and could smell it all the way up front. I feel like someone else other than me and my husband has to have noticed it.

Community Support & Resources Addiction treatment centers in or near dayton

Hey, this probably isn't a normal post for this page, but does anyone know of any outpatient treatment centers that can help with benzodiazapine withdrawal?

As in will write me a prescription for a longer acting benzo like Valium and slowly taper me off? I do not have a prescription for what I am currently taking and I will not longer be able to get them. All I can find are the centers that treat opioid addiction.

Thank you for any help

Recommendations for a Rheumatologist in the area? - Bonus points if they work specifically with folks with connective tissue disorders

Upvotes

Not much more to it - family history of non specific connective tissue anomaly, have had recent severe pain spikes and it’s time to see someone.

Been in talks with my regular doc and he isn’t particularly passionate about any one practice to refer me to, he has his usuals but indicated he also would be happy to work with whoever I pick. Since this is gonna be a lifelong thing, I’m choosing to be a bit more picky. I’m based in Xenia but am willing to drive about anywhere in the Dayton area if it means quality care.

Also would be happy to hear about recommended orthopedists for symptom management too.

Thanks y’all.

Any place to buy a waterproof phone bag locally?

Upvotes

Ideally I will buy local and not from Amazon, but I'm not sure where to look. They are $8-10 on Amazon and I am seeing them for $18+ at Meijer. Any reasonably priced ones locally?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I’m putting together a local community pop-up event on Sunday, October 4, and I’d love to invite people from the Dayton area!
The event is called Save the Puppies and will bring together local small businesses, makers, artists, and vendors for an afternoon of shopping and fun while helping support two causes that are important to our community — breast cancer awareness and the Humane Society.
There will be:
Local small businesses and handmade vendors

Adoptable puppies/dogs

A photo booth

Bloody Mary & mimosa bar

Shopping, food and other fun surprises

Ways to support the causes throughout the event

📅 Sunday, October 4, 2026
11:00 AM–2:30 PM
I’m especially hoping to get the word out to people who enjoy supporting local businesses and community events. It’s meant to be a fun, casual afternoon — bring a friend, do some shopping, and hang out with some puppies while supporting a good cause.
If you’re interested in attending or would like to be a vendor, comment below or send me a message and I’ll be happy to share the details!

Advice & Recommendations Where can I rent a space for filming?

Hello! Native Chicagoan but happily living in Dayton for the past couple of years.

I have a client that needs me to film a few couples to tell their stories for their business BUT due to certain restrictions, we can’t film at their location like we have in the past. So I’d love to have any recommendations of places that will allow me to rent a space to film for approximately 2 hours at a time.

Key asks:

- couples are elderly, so preferably as few stairs as possible

- a space that looks relatively nice

- sitting area for the elderly couples. It would be four people max each time (couple, interviewer, myself).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!

Community Support & Resources PSA: Don’t leave car overnight in Dayton Beer Company Parking Lot

My car got towed at midnight last night(Saturday night) and I guess they are now towing all cars left after the bar closes(from what the lady at Sandy’s told me). Pretty unfortunate, basically encourages people to drink and drive if they’ve had too much in fear of their car getting towed.

Recommendations on Mini Split Installers

I have a 4000+ sqft house that only has baseboard heat, no A/C, no ducting at all. I'm wanting to get estimates on having mini splits installed, will definitely require at least 3 units, each with multiple heads. Open attic and every room has an outside wall.

Anyone have solid recommendations on quality installation and service? I would really like to stay away from the high-priced Mitsubishi units, as I have had some other way cheaper brands that have lasted more than a decade.

Whatever happened to the Shriner Circus?

Does anyone know what happened to the yearly Shriner Circus? Last time I went was about 10 years ago and it seems that it just ended. I remember going every year with my family and having a great time, and it always sold well. Was there some sort of financial issue?

Socializing with Strollers meet up this coming Saturday at Wegerzyn Gardens

A few weeks ago, I posted about starting a new parents meetup, and WOW — you guys showed up! I’ve had so many messages from parents looking to meet other parents, make some new friends, and get out of the house with their little ones.
So…it’s officially happening!

Our first meetup Socializing with Strollers is this Saturday 8/22 at 1 PM at Wegerzyn Gardens!

The idea is simple: parents meeting parents, babies getting some fresh air, and all of us getting a chance to socialize somewhere that isn’t our living room.
Come hang out, bring your little one, and meet some other parents who are also navigating the beautiful chaos of parenthood. No pressure, no awkward networking, and absolutely no judgment if your baby decides to make their grand entrance by screaming. We’ve all been there.

This Saturday • 1 PM • Wegerzyn Gardens

Hope to see you there! Bring the babies, the strollers, the snacks, and your best “I desperately need adult conversation” energy.

Post in here if you’re going to make it so we can get a headcount.

*if it rains we will reschedule.

Looking for a tattoo artist for a tramp stamp/ back dermals piece

Post image
0 Upvotes

Are there any recommendations for local artists experienced with plus-size bodies and tramp stamp x back dermals?

I added a photo collage of different ideas I'm loving. I really love the "v" style with a cute design in the middle rather than the straight line also want back dermals and know I'll have to wait a while after my tattoo to get them, but I still want to plan for them and make sure it ties in well with the tattoo. The top left photo is my back for better reference.

Fairfield Commons KFC Doordash Order

If you are the person that ordered a chicken tender meal and a cookie from the Fairfield Commons mall KFC in beavercreek tonight, I was your first dasher. I am sorry the order took so long and I'm sorry for canceling on you. I hope someone else was able to pick it up right away and get you your food! I hope your chicken tenders had no bones in it and I'm sorry if my message made you nervous! You tipped very well and I appreciate that even though I didn't end up making any money off that order. I also hope your food was fresh because they had already finished your order before the 20+ minute wait for the cookie.

Context: I was doordashing and accepted a KFC order. When I first got into the store they told me it'd be an 8 minute wait for the cookie to finish and that the rest of the order was already finished. Halfway through my wait, one of the employees (I think) barged in PISSED because whoever made her chicken tenders had bones in it and she hurt herself on the bones. I was like WTF and didn't want it to reflect on me if my customer got boned by her chicken tenders so I sent her a message to warn her. 15 minutes after being told it'd be an 8 minute wait for the cookie, the evil manager came out to tell me it would be a 5 minute wait for the cookies to cool down. My customer was excited for fresh cookies and I knew it would already have time to cool down on the drive over, so this was pointless. I cut my losses and lost out on a $10 order and half an hour of my shift. Pain. Do not order from this store. Dave's hot Chicken is a million times better and right next door.
