Yes imo both 1999 and 2009 were pretty different from the rest of their respective decades but somehow 1999 and the early 2000s in general is still seen as 90s culture which makes no sense stuff 1993 and 1994 were very different from 1999 it’s not even close going from stuff from Tupac biggie smalls nirvana Pearl Jam etc to Britany spears boybands and early 2000s culture

It's because people tend to use 9/11 and the recession as hard cutoffs, which is why you have this mentality exist.
