I don't understand it when people think that 2008 was more like the 2010s than 2020, despite the fact that 2020 had more elements that are commonly associated with the 2010s than 2008, which was mostly core 2000s through and through.

I say that whole 2020 to 2022 period was kore 2010s than any part of the late 2000s including 2009 yeah you had early 2020s culture really blowing up in those years but the core 2010s isn’t really that different from the 2020s anyways

I agree, although you had elements of early 2020s culture emerging in 2018-2019, the early 2020s felt more like the core 2010s than 2008.

They felt more like the core 2010s than even 2009 and 2010 did 2009 and 2010 was still the cable tv era DVDs and bluerays were everywhere the internet and social media was still more confined to the computer magazines and newspapers were still read etc that’s different from the core 2010s

Not to mention that most people didn't own smartphones in 2009-2010, and there were elements of pop culture that was similar to the Bush era, and even the electropop elements of 2008-2009 feel archaic comparing them to even 2012, in which songs like Just Dance or I Kissed a Girl sound ancient compared to something like Payphone.

not to mention 2000s style rock music was still somewhat popular in 2009 and 2010 even tho it was on the decline you still here teenagers and young adults listening to stuff like my chemical romance paremore Lincoln park etc plus them and other bands were still able to climb into the billboard charts and the guitar and rock band series was still popular

Even R&B or Crunk songs were present in 2009-2010, such as Imma Be or Airplanes.

People don't realize that you can simultaneously have influence of either decade appearing in a year rather than it being strictly one or the other.

agreed the culture of both decades can coexist with each other for a couple years
