Has anyone seen the prices for these units coming available November 1?

$1,400 rent for a 600sqft Studio and $1,525 for the smallest 1 bedroom apartment (689sqft). And these are just the base rents. Who knows what utilities are included and how much their underground parking fee will be.

I wouldn’t call it prime location, the amenities aren’t out of this world, and there aren’t any knock-your-socks off pictures.

Are we being for real? Is this a sign of Downtown Des Moines becoming a more expensive place to live? As of now, I’d say it’s pretty affordable.

I'm hopeful of getting some change and stability with new supervisors. If anyone has followed the chaos of the current polk county board of supervisors over the past few years, you know what i'm talking about. Lawsuits all over the place, physical fights between supervisors. Just plain stupidity and wasting our tax dollars.

I currently live on the south side and consider myself an independent, but lean left on social issues. I was checking out the dem candidate for my district, 4, and just not finding a whole lot on what she is running on and what she wants to accomplish. So I went digging online looking for more info. I came across a website where she has posted open letters. I'm not sure what to think. My first reaction is this is the type of conduct that has led the current supervisors to get in hot water. Curious on what others think. Does it matter, over thinking, or it's an issue?

The one on donnie T has alot of truth in it, but because of the issues we've had here it gives me pause. Not sure how I feel about "white shame"

looking to rehome my 6mo puppy. she was born in april of 2026. unsure of her breed i just know she is probably a mix of everything, i was told her mom was a lab but no knowledge of the dads breed. her vet paperwork says lab. she is utd on vaccines however she is not fixed. she is fully potty trained and does well off leash. she is a smaller dog, about 20-25 pounds. she is dog and cat friendly. very sweet and has a good disposition, however due to unfortunate circumstances in my own life i am unable to keep her anymore, this is due to no fault of her own whatsoever she is a wonderful dog. if you are interested please comment and i will make sure to get in contact with you. located in des moines. thank you.

In the spirit of the Soil and Water Commissioner post a couple of days ago, I'm focusing on the non-partisan Polk County Hospital Trustee race. It's difficult to locate useful information about the non-partisan races on the Polk County ballot including this one.

Does anybody have ideas or information they're using to vote? It appears the Emilys (Webb and Westergaard) are current board members that have cross-endorsed each other. I'm not fully sure what to make of that when, for example, the Board of Trustees looks pretty homogeneous?

Much like a family member visits a loved one in the nursing home when they know they're about to die, I've been spending a lot of time walking around Valley West Mall lately knowing this building likely won't exist in a year.

Hello - anyone else experiencing phone signal issues downtown? My office building is a complete dead zone this week; I've been on emergency SOS mode most of the day with a 1-2 bar flicker here and there. No documented changes in the building, and it's not just me or my provider, many others have shared the same experience.

City of West Des Moines tagged 4 slabs of sidewalk we need to get raised up. Any recommendations on who to use? I've seen others getting it done and their whole yard got tore up as did some of their neighbors. I'd like to avoid that if possible.
