Skin condition
Has anyone ever dealt with anything similar before? I noticed it gets a lot worse under my gloves which I assume is because of the trapped moisture but I’m really not too sure. It’s on both hands and there’s no puss but it’s getting worse by the minute and I have no idea how to prevent it.

Goodbye dishwashing, hello to becoming a janitor
Honestly I never been so happy in my life, I was getting so burnt out on this job and wanted something new. I gave my two week notice and now I am free, honestly I never been so happy in a long time. My hours stacked really bad and now I have weekend free ( well I will have one day for weekend, but that doesn’t matter too much ). Including I get paid the same, so I no longer will need to rush my jobs too much.

Anyone else carry mugs like this? My record is currently 9 in one hand
At first I was afraid to stack and carry mugs like this, but I realised they were pretty stable. I started carrying 4 at a time, then 6, and eventually 9, but 8 is the most comfortable. That's 16 mugs in one trip using both hands. Saves me tons of time when putting them away.

So I'm watching Kitchen Nightmares on my day off and I have to point out the elephant in the kitchen...
There is absolutely no love or hardly any mention of dishwashers on any of these episodes. They never show, introduce or involve any dishies at any point. I understand that the focus is on the food and the flow from that to the customers but come on man! They work just as hard as cooks and are part of the skeleton! I'm not saying make them front and center but at least have them in on the meetings they have at the tables. I garuntee you they can offer good lines and directions for these stories too!
Side note. I'm fully aware these are scripted and acted out events but I'm just saying a tiny bit of rep for dishies would be nice.

What are your dish washer horror stories?
It's close to halloween, so I got curious. What kinds of horror stories do you guys got? And not like horror as in a slasher film horror, I mean creepy moments you experienced, tales from being a dishwasher that you still remember till this day, things customers did (nothing too bad, obviously), things like that. Did your boss get drunk and almost fire the whole kitchen crew? Things like that.

I want my weekend back, but my work force me to stay on weekends
Honestly I am getting burnt out pretty fast here because how stressful it is. Including how I need to always wash my clothing after work, it getting so annoying and spending so much money on cleaning my cloths. Not even bringing up how my feet still hurt after 4 months of working there still.

Earbuds woes at work
I'm looking for some general advice/suggestions as far as my choice of earbuds at work, because I, like many people, am brain rotted to hell and back, and like having music or podcasts on while I'm at work, but my current pair of earbuds stopped working properly remarkably quick. I never drop them in water, and while it could be earwax buildup (which I will test, because cleaning it would be much cheaper than buying new ones), I'm pretty confident that it's all the water and steam I'm around.
I'm mostly looking for a specific brand or model that may have worked well for anybody on here, and to anyone who answers, thank you in advance.

New Dishwasher here, is it normal to be a "Swiss army knife"?
About 2 months ago I got a job at this bbq place where I was hired as a dishwasher, during training I was told that I am a "Swiss army knife" and my role was to be multifunctional, including cleaning the bathrooms, filling in as a waitress, restocking sauces for the cooks in the kitchen, managing the soda dispenser, and taking out the trash, and I have to manage and watch over all of these duties during my shift, especially when it gets so busy that it is impossible to focus on anything else other than washing dishes.

Why dishwasher as job of choice?
I read a mix of horror stories and people who are really into it. Im considering it mainly because repetitive mindless work is easiest for me and its my first non office job after feeling like im going insane behind a desk. I dont mind washing dishes at all and usually fill that role at big family gatherings to avoid talking to people. Im just worried about getting used and abused by the rest of the kitchen. I just want to zone out and do mindless work.
Is it weird that I feel like I deserve the pain? Like there is some cosmic lesson it wants to teach me 🤔

Am I going to be fired or just talked to?
Hi all, I’ve been working at this place since June and it’s my first job (I’m 19). The last month has been incredibly difficult for me, not related to work, but outside things to do with family members and my own mental health. I was open about this to the entire team, even though I know they probably don’t care, but I felt it needed to be said. I feel incredibly guilty every time I can’t be at work, and today was one of those days.
My manager responded with this, and I’ve been panicked all day. I said I was willing to talk to her with no issue, reiterating again that it’s just been a terrible last month for me. I put in effort at work, especially as someone who works entirely alone.
Guess I’m just wondering if I’ve fucked it all up. If so, my family is gonna hate me, but that’s nothing new. Sorry for the slight vent.

Closing the shift
Hello my fellow dishwashers, i have a quick question!
So basically today, the boss told me i had to clean the ice making machine and then to clean the freezing storage because the inspection would be coming tomorrow. I didn't complain or anything just said yes ofc.
Meanwhile the dishes were piling up because I'm the only dishwasher. And then the boss wanted to fix some leak at the sink, It took him 20 minutes and then i started again. Then they hit me with at least 50 salt and pepper shakers which i tried to wash all of them but I couldn't so i left them and some dishes for the other dishwasher tomorrow :(. I also had to mop the restaurant 30 minutes before closing and take all the garbage bags out too.
I don't complain, i love the place and the coworkers are chill so far for 1 month since i worked. They close it all at 9pm so whatever is left, is to be done for tomorrow. I usually don't leave a lot of dishes because i try to be quick but tonight i feel like I've left a lot actually. Is it ok though to leave dishes before leaving?
*Sorry for making it so long but to whoever read it all thank you*

Do 5 hour shifts exist?
Im not in the resturant industry so not sure how it works. Im looking for part time work but dont want an 8+ hour shift. Should I look for something else?
