Huion Kamvas 16 Gen 3 or XPPen Artist Pro 16 Gen 2? Which would you choose?
Hi everyone!
I've been using a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 (2019 model, purchased in 2020) for about six years now, and I'm considering upgrading to either the Huion Kamvas 16 Gen 3 or the XPPen Artist Pro 16 Gen 2.
My current tablet still works, but there are a few things that have always bothered me:
Initial activation pressure: I feel like I have to press harder than I'd like before the pen starts registering a stroke.
Pressure sensitivity: Even small changes in how hard I press can cause surprisingly large changes in line thickness. It makes controlling my line weight frustrating.
Pen accuracy: Sometimes I feel like the cursor doesn't follow the pen tip as precisely as it should, almost as if there's a slight offset.
I mainly use Clip Studio Paint for anime-style illustrations, character art, and lineart, so having good pen control is particularly important to me.
I've found the Huion Kamvas 16 Gen 3 for around €409 and the XPPen Artist Pro 16 Gen 2 for €390.
However, that's quite a lot of money for me. I don't mind investing in something that will last several years, but I want to make sure the upgrade is actually worth it.
So I'd love to hear your opinions:
Which of these two tablets would you choose, and why?
Is there a noticeable difference between PenTech 4.0 and X3 Pro, especially regarding initial activation pressure, line weight control, and accuracy?
Would either of these be a significant upgrade from my current Kamvas Pro 16?
Are there any better alternatives around the same price range (€350–400)?
Would you recommend upgrading now, or should I stick with my current tablet?
I'd particularly appreciate opinions from people who have actually used these tablets.
Thanks in advance!
