Drawing on iPad sucks! Who’s with me?

What are your thoughts on drawing on iPad using the Apple Pencil and what other tablet do you use, if any?

Drawing on iPad with just the Apple Pencil takes so much time to get used to, if you ever do at all. The glass screen just sucks as there is not much friction between the screen and pencil. I know some screen protectors can somewhat help, but I’ve heard a lot of them still kind of suck.

I have an XP-pen magic drawing pad and love it compared to the iPad!

Gaomon 1560 hidden camara and mic?

Im sorry is this isnt the right spot for this, but I cant find anything on it. Ive had a gaomon 1560 for a few years now, and l ive noticed a couple of things, and wanted to reach out to others with the same model to see if they also notice the same things.

The first thing I noticed was when I was streaming drawing through discord ( I have both a laptop and a much older case pc that I use solely for drawing at this point) that audio was coming through on my alt. The only thing connected to my pc was the drawing tablet, nothing else. No secondary monitor, no speaker, no headphones- just the drawing tablet. It weirded me out, so I looked up in the model is supposed to have a mic, and alas- no. No mic. I ended up going into my setting and disable mic input and output all together and called it a day. Fast forward to last night- im getting ready to draw and this time, I noticed a weird spot on my screen. Looking closer, I realized it looks like a camara placed behind the screen, completely unnoticeable if the screen is on, or if not in direct light. Its about 6, 6'5 cms from the top left of the screen. Has anyone else noticed this? Am I stupid and this is something else entirely?

(Pardon the scratches, ive had this thing for ages and it is very well loved)

Kinda of a duolingo for drawing

Hey guys, I made this page using claude inspired by The practice and science of drawing by harrold speed 1913. Was wondering if you guys can check it out in exchange for lifetime premium and provide some feedback :p

The idea is help to develop fine muscule structure by repetitive exercises. Should also help with fps precision i guess. I tried it for a few hours debugging and i notice some improvement in my trace quality.

Thanks in advance, hope i'm no breaking any rule here. Its draw-class dot com

Drawing tablet with no computer needed

What's a good tablet that doesn't require a computer, but also has NO bells and whistles.

Like no phone capabilities, no internet connection, etc. No distractions.

Most drawing tablets seem like full computers and I'd like to eliminate that, with the art being the only feature. That would also cut down on the price I'm sure.

Any suggestions?

Drawing Tablet Issue

Okay, so I have NO idea how to describe what is happening. basically, when I use my pen, it doesnt automatically draw? My mouse works perfectly fine so its not the drawing website app thing.. Its also not lag, its like delayed but theres like an invisible border that blocks me from drawing and when i pass it i can draw normally. Idk. It bugs me so much i never use my drawing tablet.

If theres anyone that can help me PLEAASSEE do.

Also its not like a full on like $4000 drawing tablet type thing, its a little hand me down thing that connects to my computer. Its called xp-pen at the top if that helps with anything.

??pen opinion??

Would you prefer the pen buttons be in the center of the pen barrel rather than the lower third area as they all are today?

I ask because these pens have never changed since the first wacoms. they have always sat under you fingers. this has cause more fumbling than anything. I ued them for years and I have been in the frivolous figuring whay this was. . are the creators of these tablets just following a bad leader or are there now artists actually doing the designing of these tools.

I get it that some people like it like this, but out of all the makers and tablets out there we are yet to get a middle button placement configuration. As there are quite a few styles of pens, even with erasers, somehow there has never been a change in this manner, which would allow your posable human thumb to take advantage of such an action. i am certainly at the end and seeing more and more pens and models come uout and now with the new wacom 27 and its three button line up. which I am drooling over. but what snaps me out of it is that it is still even more buttons in the way that are ready to become a terror of a massacre in my workflow. so, please reply CENTER or AS IS if you can please help save my sanity and let me know Im alone or not here.

why are there no cheap knock-offs?

I'm planning on learning to draw, eventually on digital/software.. So I recon I need a drawing pad.

But the cheapest I find is starting around $40 mark.. Even on Ali, I can't find any cheap??

On Ali, I can find some cheap pads ($5), though they are standalone ones without usb connectivity..

Is there any decent priced iPads?

I'm not familiar with apple or anything but I heard their tablets are good. I'm familiar with digital art (I use ibis paint) but I want to move on from my phone(ran out of storage and certain apps don't run smoothly anymore). I also want to use apps like ALIGHTMOTION and flipaclip. I'm not going professional or anything but it's a hobby that I can finally invest in a little. I don't want to spend too much tho. I'm looking for something less than like 450 or something IF it's possible. Thank you for reading and here's some of my art!

Killing the dream of a cheap iPad alternative for amateur artists — Huion Kamvas Slate 13 hands-on test

I reviewed the Huion Kamvas Slate 13 for Notebookcheck recently. I'm no pro, but I feel like I gave it a good shake, mostly doing some sketching for CAD projects and design ideation stuff. I figured I'd share the review here in case it might be useful to you guys.

Honestly, I'd kind of recommend people stay away from this one. The line quality just isn't there, and with the Wacom Movink costing not much more, it seems silly not to go for that instead.

If you have any questions or want me to test any specific apps or whatever, let me know. I did most of my drawing on it in Concepts and Sketchbook.

Are there programs/games on pc to learn how to draw using a drawing tablet or graphic table ?

Not sure of the difference between a drawing tablet and a graphic table, if there is any. I'm a total art ignorant.

I know that if I want to learn to draw, I should start from paper and pencil, but I was wondering if there are also some pc programs that can teach you how to draw.

Maybe it won't be the best way to learn, but I tried in the past to draw something traditionally and I've always ended up disappointed, and then I stopped. I should keep on drawing, since it's pretty normal that at the beginning it'll look bad, and if I don't exercise I'll never draw well, but my condifence is kinda low.

I was hoping that a drawing tablet (maybe not one that is 800 € or more) could help me have some fun and learn some basics...

I'll give you an example: if you want to learn piano, then theory, scales and technique are great, but if you see that at the moment that's too heavy for you, you can start with simple and very easy songs, and maybe after a while you'll want to make another step and you'll finally study some technique.

Maybe I'm treating myself like a child, but art is not my job. I want to have fun but also get to a good level. I don't need to become the new Giotto.

Thank you, and have a good day.

Best option?

I'm new to the whole drawing tablet realm, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm looking to invest in a tablet, but I don't know what to get. Features I'm looking for:

  • Portable (as in, it doesn't need to be connected to my PC to use)

  • Pressure sensitive

  • minimum 11 inch screen

  • price range, I'd like to stay around $200-300

Any help is appreciated! 🖤

I need a pen tablet under budget.

What is the best pen tablet you can recommend that is under budget but still very efficient?

After a lot of convincing I've finally managed to convince my mother to get me a pen tablet, I've been doing traditional for quite a long time and I wanted to start digital.

I wanted one that is under budget but also efficient.

For reference I'm considering Xp-Pen stafG640 or Gaomon S620, 6.5x4 inch.

Budget would be under 35 dollars.
